Title: Posting Fanfic
Description: Limits on length of posts?

tpel1 - October 3, 2006 05:40 PM (GMT)
I know some boards discourage long posts. Something about bandwidth? I don't know -- I'm a technophobe :)

Anyway, it's never come up for me with regular posts. I'm not that loquacious. But what about for posting fanfic? If I have a chapter that's 14 pages in MS word, can I post it all in one chunk? I could divide it into smaller bits and post them one after another. But some boards don't like double-posting, either. Of course, we're a bit more mellow here than over at some boards. ;) Nevertheless, I don't want to step on anybody's toes.

From one technophobe (peasant, luddite, whatever) to another, greetings. I am pretty loquacious in my regular post and haven't had any squawks from the board yet, so to speak.

You could probably post the whole thing in one chunk, but for ease of reading you might want to break it up anyway. That's my $.02. And please, hurry, we need some way to entertain ourselves during the "House drought" in the US (I mean used to actually sort of like baseball, but now. . .).

I think there is a character limit for posts, but I don't know what it is.

We don't mind long posts at all, and especially if it's fic! :D But, as Aud said, I think there is a character limit within a post. I think sy hit that limit at one point during one of her lengthy fic but I don't know what that limit is. I'll check on that today and see what I can find. I'll post back with any info.

But if you really want to get it up, go ahead and try it in one. If it doesn't work, split it at an appropriate point and make two posts.

And....

WooHooo, more House/Holmes goodness!! :D
