HOUSE's first all-new May Sweeps episode, "Euphoria; Part 1" airing Tuesday, May 2 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), is the first part of a special two-part, two-night installment. A police officer is admitted to Princeton Plainsboro in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head and odd symptoms that include unexplained giddiness. After House dispatches Dr. Foreman to the officer's apartment to dig for clues and causes, Foreman begins to exhibit the same symptoms and is put in isolation with the patient. As the police officer's condition deteriorates, Foreman is forced to watch up-close as the officer descends into unbearable and unmanageable pain, while the team races to find the cause of the illness before Foreman's condition takes the same deadly path. (The conclusion of the special two-part, two-night HOUSE will air on Wednesday, May 3 at 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT.)
The following Tuesday, May 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), House and the team take on two cases at once when they attempt to save the lives of a young mother and her newborn son in the "Forever" episode of HOUSE. When Kara has a seizure while bathing her child, she nearly drowns her newborn. House and the team scramble to find the cause of Kara's seizures, while simultaneously trying to bring the infant back to life. Meanwhile, Chase admits he needs a break, and House investigates why Cuddy has asked Wilson on a date.
D.B. Sweeney guest-stars in the next all-new May Sweeps episode of HOUSE. A 16-year-old female Hurricane Katrina victim suffering from hallucinations about the tragedy is brought to House by his ex-bandmate Crandall (guest star Sweeney), who recently found out that the girl is his daughter. Despite fearing that his friend is being scammed, House takes the case, and as he works his way through the girl's lies to find clues to diagnose and treat her, he's forced to tell a few lies of his own. Meanwhile, Cuddy asks House to review two medical files, and it doesn't take long for him to figure out that she's looking for a sperm donor. House takes the search a step further and sets Cuddy up for a big surprise in the "Who's Your Daddy?" episode Tuesday, May 16 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).
In the second season finale of HOUSE Tuesday, May 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), as House and his team are working on the diagnosis of Vince, a man with a giant, swollen tongue, disgruntled former patient Jack Moriarty (guest star Elias Koteas) walks into House's office and shoots him. House continues to treat Vince from his ICU hospital bed with Moriarty, shot by hospital security and hand-cuffed to his bed, as his roommate. When aftereffects of the shooting begin to impact House, he starts to question his own ability to properly diagnose. As Vince's body deteriorates, House must struggle through his self-doubt and trust his team to find a way to solve the case. |

Whaaat? They're putting the shooter and the victim in the same hospital, next to each other? That seems a little questionable...
Oh, well. More fun for us. ;)

I hope I'm not the only one who noticed this:
House has been compared to Sherlock Holmes.
Holmes's nemisis is JAMES MORIARTY.
:o
House's shooter is JACK Moriarty.
I think that's frickin' cool, myself.

Now they're just hitting people over the head w/ the Sherlock refs.
221 B was one thing, but now even non-Holmes enthusiasts will go "Ohhhhhh. I get it."
Funny, but silly.
I hope to see more Blackadder references, myself.
And yeah, no way in hell would they keep shooter and vic in the same room. Bah.

I heard rumors that the 'shooting' is going to lead to House's leg being fixed. Hugh laurie is tired of limping. It's giving him back trouble. So, the writers are 'scrapping' the cane for season 3. Remeber, this only a rumor, and Rtlemurs says that it's not from a very reliable source.
Personally, I think it will be the show's undoing. the vast majority of Dr. House's fans are women and women have this natural urge to want to nuture and heal...especially handsome, sexy men! :P House's limp and his problems are a big draw to women. I hope I'm wrong, and if the cane in 86ed, I hope the writers will be able to compensate and keep the show as attractive as it has been in the past.
As far as Hugh Laurie is concerned, well, you all know how I feel about him. He is my favorite actor, and I have nothing but love and respect for him. However, he is getting paid a lot of money to play Dr. House (Probably more, now that's he's a Golden Globe winner) the way he was created. If his back is giving him trouble, he needs to hire a full-time massage therapist or a chiropractor to help him out. Hey, it's just my opinion. ;)
Cheers PPD

I wouldn't worry too much. Apparently, at least as I read on TWOP, the source has been known for taking random details and running with them to disasterous effect. Add to that, apparently, the season finale will be one that plays a bit fast and loose with reality--Jesse Spencer mentioned the Matrix in an interview-- so the chances that House will be permanently cane free are probably small. Most likely the source heard about Hugh saying that playing the limp hurts his back and that House will be seen without his cane in the episode and ran wild with it. If Hugh did anything it was probably to ask if he could be cane free or mostly so, for one episode or something.
Apparently, I have no personal knowledge of this, other screenshots from this episode also seem unreal according to what we know of the plot, and we know that in his dreams House doesn't have a cane (remember the Vogler/Cancer scene in Babies and Bathwater), so it's possible that House is hallucinating all or part of the more improbably parts. At least that's what I'm hoping.

There should be plenty of ways to get around shooting the cane w/o getting rid of it. I will list some in case important cane decision makers are reading:
Film fewer "hallway diagnosis" scenes where Hugh is limping for excessive periods of time.
Let him sit down more.
Shoot him from the waist up so we just assume the cane is there.
Hire a stunt-cane-guy for below the waist shots of him walking.
Use computer animation.
(Ok that last one is silly.)
Let's hope we don't have to start a petition . . . SAVE THE CANE! ;)
