So we finally get some Wilson time (YAY!) and it needs discussion. Wilson would talk about it so....so should we, unless you want to sit around bottling up until your leg really, really hurts <_< .
- Julie? She cheated- are we to assume that this a break from the norm? Seems to me that the Julie situation has ended confirming the scenarios that fanfic had figured. She hates House, she isn't sitting home, niave to Wilson's bad boy ways, she kicked him out.
Why does he tell his wives? What is that about? Does it tie in with his bad news breaking. If he lies to cheat in the first place why cough? If it makes him feel guilty enough to confess then why is he doing it in the first place?
- No kids? That's an interesting character detail. Its like the writers decision to give him three, rather than one, marriages. There has to be something to it. He didn't want kids? He can't have kids? Three wives who didn't or couldn't seems statistically unlikely?
- He really wanted House and Stacy to work out but he had no idea how House felt and whether it was a good idea. House told him Stacy was better off without him and that sparked a major fit from Wilson- does he thinks it is always better to have 'something' than 'nothing'?
- Three screwed up marriages? That is a lot of marraige and Wilson isn't yet forty (I'd go for something more accurate but that involves consulting the Timeline Of No Sense) yet.
- Wilson goes to a House rather than a hotel? Why? He needs to be with someone and because he isn't having an affair he runs to House? Security, hiding place, whatever, it is at least slightly strange.
-I've taken off my slasher head. I love it in fic but I'm not so sure I think it would work on the show. That aside and cutting the whole 'to slash or not to slash' sideshow, canon is now raising questions. One of those has to be a sexuality issue. I'm not saying Wilson is gay or has a raging crush on House but maybe he needs something he isn't able to face up to. Maybe he wants to chase the dream that he will be able to have a family and traditional life if he wants it enough. I can see it being totally plausable. Coming out as a bisexual or gay wouldn't just be about other people's reactions. House would most liklely be cool with it, Princeton seems a fairly liberal place (uni town so I'm guessing). Maybe it's the internal conflict of wanting a straight life and to have kids but not being straight enough to make it work? I know the counter is that all Wilson's dalliances (the nurses have all been stereotype blondes) have been with women but I wouldn't rule it out. He's been mairried to three women and each time it has run into trouble. Could equally be that he is straight and f'ed up but bi or gay and f'ed up is a consideration?
As always with this show, a reveal means we now how even more questions than answers. Anyone?
The guy obviously has some issues with love and relationships. We see House as the resident misanthropic miserable bastard of the show, but Wilson has some serious issues with his life as well... begs a lot of questions...

| I’ve got no kids, my marriage sucks; I’ve only got two things that work for me: this job and this stupid, screwed-up friendship, and neither mattered enough to you to give one lousy speech. |
- Thanks to Taru and her wonderful transcripters.
This scene is very telling, both about Wilson and about the relationship that he has with House.
Will post more soon, must rush. Interesting.
B)
Good topic. Unfortunately no time for deep thoughts until the weekend! So I'll be rtlemurs brief here ( :P )
I think alot of the problem has to do with his dedication to his job. Since he is at work so much he is not at home. Therefore wifey feels neglected. I'm sure they've (all 3) had conversations/arguments about this eventually. I'd place a bet that eventually he takes the stance of "You knew this when you married me".
I'd bet this is the point at which he seeks solace in other women. And it could just be an understanding ear and not a warm bed he's looking for. We still have no indictation of actual infidelity other than House's inference that he's got a girlfriend (House is usually right though).
Now once this escalates to the argument level he moves to the avoidance tactics. Either by spending more time at work or just out. He does seem to have that going on as indicated by House's comment "So what are you still doing here at 8 o'clock at night?"
This may also eventually lead to actual infidelity.
Finally wifey gets fed up and calls it a day. Now whether past wives had affairs or just called it a day and divorced him I don't know but this seemed to be a shocking first for him when he told House she was having an affair.
Now the question is why can't he see this and hang on to a wife? Like I said, more thought over the weekend but I do see merit in your argument Benj. You can't so it three times and not realize it's an issue unless your doing it to hide other issues (Does that make sense?).
More later.
