Title: Song during last night's final scene
Description: music

If anybody is interested, that song that played during the final scene last night when House was seated at his piano contemplating whether to give in to his pain pill addiction was "Desire" by Ryan Adams.

It nearly floored me when it started to play. Ryan Adams is my favorite musician and that song is just soooo good. If anybody wants to know more about Ryan or his music, feel free to ask ... I'll be more than happy to turn one or two of you into Ryan fans. :)

I too loved the song. Had no idea who it was but this is one of only a few times when I thought "I've gotta get a name and check out whoever it is".

I immediately came to work, looked it up and put in my PO! It'll be in my hot little hands Friday and we can talk.

Was the version they played on the show the same as on the CD? I know they have had different versions done for the show (the Elvis Costello/Christina ???whatever her name is song for "Autopsy")?

I'm getting the "Demolition" CD as that's the one CathyNH listed in the "Skin Deep" thread below and the song is on the track list of that album.

Amazon had a partial clip of the track posted -- I used that to verify that I had the right song/artist -- it sounded like what they used on the show...

You should be happy. Ryan Adams is very, very good. (And very, very prolific. I think he put out four albums in '05)

The closest he's come to a "hit" he's had is with the song "New YOrk, New York." YOu may remember it because the video was shot two days before Sept. 11, with the twin towers in the background of the shots.

Glad the song generated some interest!! :)

Indeed, the version played in the episode is the one from the album. One thing you should know about Demolition ... The "album" is but a mishmosh of recordings culled from four different sessions Ryan did seperately. Officially, it is a bunch of "demos," so that's why the album lacks a certain cohesiveness. You'll see what I'm saying when you listen to it. But it is an incredible gem.

The songs range from pop to pop rock to country rock to folk to punk(ish) to blue grass and back again. And there's even a slow percussion-based sadbastard beauty of a song called Jesus, Don't Touch My Baby that is like a mainline straight through the man's heart.

The good news is ... Demolition is just a mere scratch on the surface of the music catalog of the one the only, Ryan Adams.

He released three albums in 2005:

Cold Roses (May)
Jacksonville City Nights (September)
29 (December)

But Cold Roses was a double album ... and I think there was a total of 12 b-sides in 2005 (that number could be low). Utterly incredible.

Well, I finally found this thread again and wanted to let the Ryan Adams fans know that I am quite happy with my purchase. A few songs I'm not overly keen on but have no problem listening too, most of them I really like.

Of course I'm crappy with names in general and song names are genrerally only known if I'm looking at a track listing when it plays. So I can't give you specifics on what I really liked and what I felt was so-so but what would you folks recommend I get next? Keeping in mind I loved "Desire".
