Seeing as we had a mass Wilson ep and that is a rare species I thought I'd start a thread because he was so interesting tonight.
I agree that Wilson was more extreme but I'd say his 'inconsistancy' is not a 'WTF' on the part of the writers but something that has always been there and been overshadowed by House being further off the wall.
In Detox, he schemed up the 'bet' but then, arguably, backed away when he had House on the ropes over the Vicodin. Fair enough that he didn't push House further during their confrontation but his statement to Cuddy that followed seemed a huge U-turn.
He also pushed House in Kids and the infamous 'Do Her' scene of Love Hurts before giving Cameron a thinly veiled warning. If he had reservations about her motives, why did he actively encourage House?
Also his 'you need Stacy to like you' in Acceptance doesn't seem to tally with his 'you can't be within fifty feet of Stacy Warner warning'.
It makes me love the character even more because he is so much more than the Beauty to House's Beast. Interesting too that tonight the roles were reversed and rather than House being on the receiving end of an insight from Wilson, his line about 'running to gossip' to Wilson was actually right on the money. Until now anything House has said to Wilson was potentially a defensive move but this time he was calling him out on something with substance.
I really hope this is going to be a pivot for more looking at Wilson - seeing him ruffled was so cool and more could only be a great move.

I had forgot about that one.
All good points Benj. I agree that it is within his character but it just seemed so blatant this episode. I have been thinking about this and I think it has a lot to do with the mess he was witness to last time out. He knows that he's going to have to deal with it no matter how it works out.
Possibly he thinks House would be happy this time, or at least for a while, with Stacy and it would not only make him happy to see House happy but tha it would allow him to have some distance from House.
I'm sure dealing with Hosue all these years has taken a toll and maybe Wilson wants some "me" time. But he knows that "if" it doesn't work out it will be worse than last time.
That is next on my list. a little glimpse of the afteramth from round one. Not only for the House moments and insight but to see just how Wilson handled that and get some insight into his end of the relationship.
Wilson will definitely be an interesting unveil and I believe they will play it as they have played it with House. Deal it out in small amounts and raise so many questions. I hope this isn't too spoilerish but I have heard that this season, possibly these next few episodes, we will be getting more of Wilson's story.
I don't know if it is backstory or current goings on but the producers have said that now that things are stable and the characters and feel of the show have been established they will start to show more of the "outside of work" pieces of the characters.
I'll have t ogo find the article but I got the impression that it will be just as slow a reveal as it has been with House so far. They are such a tease!!

Hmmm, I'd have to watch them all again to really say for sure but I get what you're saying. Why do you think that is?
RT- much food for thought and I guess we'll only figure out some things if we ever get any serious Wilson backstory. My thoughts on it are still just a ramble but it was too good not to make me think a lot. Damn this show :D
Totally agree that this will be best conveyed with the small reveals like we've had with House.

I agree that Wilson's major preoccupation was House not getting hurt -not moral outrage but hyper aware of the consequences of marriage break up. He really wants to see House happy and I think he projects, to a degree, with what makes him happy - relationships. He seemed far more angry with Stacy for dumping House than House was and that has to say something.
It's also really interesting that House didn't call him on the double standards angle at any point, not even when Wilson really pushed him during the rooftop exchange. House munching a couple of pills was his final straw and he did let rip.
As for 'me' time, I think that is what House gives him, time off from his own problems.

That would be gold and I'm wondering if Wilson was being restrained, that things must have been really bad.
I'm wondering if the numerous hints about marriage strike three heading down the tubes isn't going to cause Wilson a major problem and this was the warm-up. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds :)
