Title: long-winded, rambling hello
Description: -fair warning-

hi everyone! :) I'm new to this forum. I see some familiar names from other house/hugh laurie forums so that's great to see some spillover. I am a big fan of the simpsons (recent quality decline can't take away from earlier brilliance) so my forums name is runawayhouse, which has recently been shortened to runny.
so, a little about myself. I am from southern california via texas. pretty new to the whole house/hugh appreciation game. I'm making up for lost time now but I hadn't actually watched any episodes of house until "autopsy" in Sept. after that, I bit torrented season 1 right quick and watched nonstop (through the infamous baseball house blackout) until I was bursting full of housely goodness, just in time to attend the hugh laurie taping of "the late late show" in Nov. whereupon a full-blown house/hugh obsession bloomed. not loving british comedies in general, I had no idea hugh's accent was a put-on (didn't even know who he was until recently) but don't really see that being relevant to house appreciation since his on-screen americanization is amazing and complete.
while I have been guilty of adding to forum board detritus like game threads (there are a couple I am addicted to though I see most forum games as space eaters) I am interested in as detailed analyses of episodes and character motivations as the shows can support. I am impressed by the quality of thought that I have seen here in the lurking I have done in the few days since I stumbled onto this site. judging from the paltry active topics board, there seems to be a lull which I am attributing to the dearth of new episodes recently. anyway, looking forward to reading and posting more here.
uh, one more thing... about the no-caps thing. by day, I am an documents editor; by night, I am free to shuck off the bonds of grammar and capitalization. usually, I enjoy grammar shackles (and run-on sentences! ) so that just leaves capitalization as the husk to be shucked (apparently I am okay with mixing metaphors too.) sorry if that makes my posts annoying to read; we all gotta fight "da man" in our own way. :)
who da man? I da man. I always suspected.

Ah, another familiar name! Welcome. we're glad to have you.
Please feel free to dust off some of those older topics and breathe new life into them!! You've got the advantage of viewing older episodes with the mindset of having already viewed more developed characters (does that make any sense? )
You may be able to bring a fresh perspective or even restate and old perspective in a way that will generate new thoughts and discussions.
Thanks for de-lurking and I hope you enjoy your time here!

Greetings! Glad to have you onboard! Remember, long posts make for great reading! I saw that you mentioned Texas, what part were you from? I'm in the DFW area. Terrell to be more specific, however, I'm origionally from Houston.

thanks for the welcome, folks. very nice! my logorrhea kicks in sporadically yet virulently, with me trailing behind helplessly, dispersing punctuation and hard carriage returns. thanks for your understanding.
PPD, we first lived in Temple (close to killeen) when we first moved to TX but I grew up mostly in SW houston/sugarland. I went to UT so I lived in austin for a long while. I miss it a lot. I think terrell has been renowned in the media recently as the hometown of jamie foxx, no? what part of houston?

I know right where Temple is. Lots of logging going on down there. Infact, if you arn't careful when you are driving through, you'll get smacked by one of those huge logging trucks! :o I am from Clear Lake City area of Houston. To be more acurate, Seabrook. My mom and dad live about three miles from the Johnson Space Center.
Yes, Terrell is the birth place of Jamie Foxx. There was a huge 'to-do' about 'Ray' when it was released. Good memory! ;)
Cheers! PPD
