Title: 3 Horses Missing Assumed Stolen

First Light - January 12, 2006 07:19 AM (GMT)
on tuesday night, someone broke into our field and released 13 horses. 2 were recovered soon after and another eight found this morning but three are still missing. The incident happened early evening on tues 10.1.06 at Crossbush near Arundel in west sussex.
The missing horses are a 16hh bay clydesdale cross mare; a 16hh dun skewbald gelding and a 14.2hh dun mare who had a foal at foot who is now seperated from her and very anxious.

Anyone who has any information or has seen the above horses please reply to this message as soon as possible. Thank you.

First Light - January 13, 2006 06:12 PM (GMT)
no afriad not none of the horses are passported, mircrochipped or freezed marked. theses aren't my horses but a friend of mine. i can give you a more detailed describtion. 16hh bay mare with 4 black stocking she is between 7 and 10 i think. she is a clydesdale cross with a blaze. 16hh dun/lemon skewbald with 4 white stocking a wide blaze. he is 6 years old and his mum is the 14.2 dun mare who did have a foal at foot. she has two white stockings one on the off fore and the other on the near hind.

there is going to be an article in the West Sussex gazette about the mare's foal next week. so hopefully something will come from that.

thanks ok here is an article from the argus in worthing

A mother is appealing for the return of three of her disabled son's horses that were stolen from a field.
Sheila Hocking, of New Road in Shoreham, was heartbroken when thieves set her 13 horses free at 6pm on Tuesday.
She stayed out until midnight rounding up ten of the animals in the Arundel area but could not find the other three.
A six-month-old foal called TJ has been pining for its mother, a mare called Oprah, since the theft.
A high security padlock on a gate leading to the field was broken.
Mrs Hocking said the horses were important to her 26-year-old son Richard, who suffered brain damage after he was run over at an accident blackspot on the A27 near Boundstone School in Lancing when he was 12.
She said: "Richard bought the horses with the £10,000 compensation he got from his accident and he needs them for his therapy.
"They are all irreplaceable and I'm desperate to get them back.
"TJ has been very upset. He keeps going up to the other mares but they don't like it and keep kicking him out of the way. It's horrible to see.
"The others were exhausted when I got them back into the field.
"One of them, Dolly a 35-year-old mare, looked really unwell.
"I thought we were going to lose her because she's about 130 years old in horse years."
She said one of the stolen horses, 12-year-old Lady, suffered from the foot disease laminitus and could die if she was not fed properly.
The missing horses are Sebastian, a 16.1 hand seven-year-old stud with lemon and white colouring, Lady, a 16.2 hand dark bay mare, and Oprah, a 12-year-old 15.2 hand dunn-coloured horse with scars on her belly and side from a car accident.
Mrs Hocking said: "I am worried about all three of them and my son is worried sick. I'm only sleeping for an hour and a half at night and he's only getting 30 minutes."
She said her daughter Rosetta, 22, who is partially sighted, also rode the horses regularly and was anxious to get the missing three back.
She said: "If whoever took them could just call the police or the RSPCA and let us know where they are it would be such a relief."
The ten animals found were in a field in Clay Lane, Crossbush, near Arundel.
A police spokeswoman said: "This theft has had a devastating effect on the family.
"We are anxious to hear from anybody who knows anything about the crime or the whereabouts of the horses."
Call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.

It must be horrible wondering after all this time where they are... poor poor owners.... My heart goes out to you...it really does... so sad

First Light - August 7, 2006 02:33 PM (GMT)
what i find most heartbreaking is that when ever he hears a mare call out TJ shouts out in the hope that its his mum, he trys to jump out the field to find her if he hears a mare. somepeople are really cruel

hanadi - August 7, 2006 06:46 PM (GMT)
i really hope they find them soon it is so sad that people will do this and i am sorry if i offend anyone when i say this but i bet it is the pykies it is there type of horse!
i will put the word out and go to the pykies sites in my area see if i can see them i have to say thou with no passports she doesn't really have a leg to stand on if she does find them

First Light - August 7, 2006 07:08 PM (GMT)
if they are found and have good homes there will be no intention of giving them back, this women (who i say is my friend, but actually i really don't get on with her) is about to have her other 8 horses taken off her by the RSPCA, (groos neglact, she doesn't stave them but one is in desperate need of vetrinary care, about 5 of them were on the border of having lami last time i saw them and that was at the beginning of June, 2 are stuck in stables all day that aren't mucked out. and none of them have passports and no way of her actually saying they are hers) if they are in good homes then they will probably be left there.

hanadi - August 7, 2006 08:00 PM (GMT)
well if they would have to go back to that then i hope they are not found they r proble better off where they r now

First Light - August 7, 2006 08:08 PM (GMT)
i want ot find them for my and my friends sake not for this women.like i said i wouldn't tell her if i found them i just want to know they are in a good home

I thought it sounded a little suspicious having 13 horses for one son and his mother. Even if they were his 'therapy' horses, it was hard to find a whole ton of sympathy when he had 10 other horses to keep him more than occupied. I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't have 'pet' horses if they would otherwise be perfectly capable of being ridden. I'm maxed out with two horses. Id hope that mare and foal are reunited, though. Sounds like he was just 'weaned' early. Usually they are over it in a week or two. Even if she was brought back, they probably wouldn't act the same together.

First Light - August 14, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
the foal has moved away from the herd now and lives with Joey, these people are crazy they buy more and more horse but can hardly support the ones they have in winter. then she puts them all in foal

First Light - August 17, 2006 09:11 PM (GMT)
update, we think we may have found one of the 3 horses, the dun mare who's foal now lives with us : CELEBRATIONS :

BUT a gypsy has her and said that even if it is her he won't give her back because he knows what the owners like soo sounds like she's have a good home with a genuine romany

Bobbo - August 25, 2006 10:48 AM (GMT)
    thats fantastic news. would the gypsy not consider reuniting her back with her foal though?? have you been to see her?? did she look happy??

any news on the others yet??

I have to say I've fallen in  with the skewbald cob. He is gorgeous.

First Light - August 26, 2006 09:05 AM (GMT)
sebbie is gorg

no we haven't been to see her the owner has to produce a picture of her before we are allow to see her, i don't think re-introducing them would be a good idea the colt is now 14 months old now and is going to stay a colt.

we have no news on the others
