POLICE ASK HORSE OWNERS TO BE VIGILANT

Police across B Division (Monmouthshire and Torfaen) are asking horse owners to be vigilant after a report of suspicious activity in the area. It is believed that thieves are targeting land where horses are present and leaving fluorescent yellow⁄orange paint markings in the road to direct accomplices to them overnight.
Checks have been made with the Highways Authority to check that the markings haven't been painted by their staff and the result has proved negative.

There have been no reports of horses being stolen but owners are asked to look out for any suspicious activity, such as people making unusual marks on roads with paint⁄spray cans and people taking photos of horses.
