Items of tack stolen from Moss House Farm, Thowler Lane, Millington, nr Knutsford, Cheshire on 29th November 2006.
Saddles.
17.5 inch black dressage saddle, long girth tabs, makers badge near stirrup bars, peculiar marks on flaps, complete with black Sabre dressage girth and sheepskin cover. Specially made for small rider on large horses. Series of numbers on panels.
17.5 inch very dark brown G.P saddle, knee rolls, Farrington make, Crewe Saddlery badge. Complete with stirrups and leathers (one badly chewed!), and in need of seat restuff .
18 inch brown event saddle, small saddle shaped keyring on D on offside. Some water type marks on flaps, which have several rows of stitching on knee rolls. Girth tabs have almost square holes. Complete with leathers and leather Atherstone girth.
17.5 inch almost new brown Derby House Working Hunter saddle, Derby House badges on saddle and also on stirrup leathers, also on brown Atherstone leather girth.
17.5 inch black Lemetex dressage saddle, very light weight, hardly any panel, ‘ Kloster Schontal’ on large girth guards, short girth tabs. Good condition. Red Lemetex badges.
2 x elderly jumping saddles – one black, one very dark green. Forward cut, no stirrups, leathers or girths – can’t remember makes at the moment, but good names.
Also 3 other saddles –event type – 2 x Jeffries and 1 Stubben
3 other bridles – Jeffries – cob size, plain cavesson nosebands, snaffle bits, and 1 running martingale.
Bridles
Cob size black padded headpiece bridle with double row diamante browband and thin leather reins, half-lined rubber. Chunky flash noseband with ordinary fastening. Unusual bit with quarter moon shaped centre and two joints, size 5.5 inch.
Old but serviceable Lemetex cob size bridle. Lemetex stamped on headpiece, bent buckle tongue on one side, making it difficult to adjust. Flash noseband, with ordinary fastening, rubber grip reins, browband has lozenge – diamond – lozenge design, 5.5 inch snaffle bit.
Sabre cob size double bridle in brown. Complete with 5.5 inch bits and rolled lip strap. Crank type noseband fastening. Has leather loop fitted to curb rein so it can be laid on horse’s neck and not used.
In need of an oiling when stolen especially on reins. Curb bit of slightly unusual design in stainless steel, ordinary loose ring snaffle type bridoon.
Black full size German leather bridle, with flash noseband – ordinary fastening and webbing reins with leather inserts. Browband in German team colours of red, gold and black with silver jumping horse on each side. Sprenger training bit in Aurigan (gold metal) size 5.5 ins with two joints.
Black Kavalkade cob size bridle with silver fittings, quite short throatlash – won’t fit many horses. 5.5 inch jointed loose ring snaffle bit, rubber grip reins. Plain browband, flash noseband.
Cob size work bridle, black, dropped noseband which is a little cracked on inside. Silver buckle type fittings, rubber grip reins.
These descriptions were how the equipment was put together when they were stolen. However, because of similar sizing, it’s possible they may appear in different permutations.
Saddlecloths and numnahs
4 x simulated sheepskin numnahs:
1 x cream lined brown quilting
1 x cream lined blue quilting
1 x numed black lines plain black
1 x numed white lined white with red tabs and tartan
Several white dressage type quilted saddlecloths:
1 x embroidered ‘Kinister Competition Horses’ in blue on offside
1 x thick quilt with Hanovarian brand in black. Smaller size than the others.
Also 3 leather headcollars – cob sizes – 2 virtually new, plain black.
One very old – sentimental value only – brass buckles, padded noseband, dark brown and quite tatty. End of headpiece has been chewed.
