Title: Cold War RPG
Description: Any interest?

Frontovik - January 24, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
I've been thinking about doing this for a while and wanted to see if there was any interest. The game would start in 1955. The Korean war would be on hold due to a ceasefire, but tensions would still be high in the region. Vietnam was divided and the beginnings of the war there were underway. The 1st Arab Israelii war was a year away.

Players who choose to play the superpowers or NATO or Warsaw pact allies would have to invest money and do research to create new weapons such as tanks, planes and submarines, which they could then sell to the smaller nations for profit. If you want to fight alot, the smaller countries such as Israel or North Vietnam would be the better choice, though the superpowers might get into a slugfest in Europe.

Yes I enjoy the Cold War era too.

Problem is there are too few interested players to make a go of it.

Same goes for 19th Century Imperialism (1870-1913)

I wouldn't mind it really, however you simply fall to statistics in your battles I think, if done right it could be very interesting, and I wouldn't mind participating in it.

It sounds like an interesting concept. I would hope the economic aspects get a big emphasis, since ultimately that was what decided the outcome of the Cold War.

Good luck.

I say nuke em just for fun!!!

(No I'm not being evil...but damn man, everyone always 'wondered' what would happen  )

Sorry guys. No time, but I couldn't resist throwing in a peanut gallery snippet. :D

Count me in.

(Ahistorical China?) ;)

Is there actually going to be a game or just talk about one?

Miborovsky - January 31, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
Yeah?

Hmm...

That isn't such a bad idea. I would like a RPG that had a lot of politics integrated in it. I don't know if I would play though since I'm at school most of the time.

The interest doesn't seem to overwhelming, but I suppose we could give it a try.

Looks like a very good game with a little of everything for all tastes.

UN
Nato
Warsaw Pact
Warfare (and it's Prevention)
Diplomacy
Intrigue/Espionage
Weapons Deals
3rd World Powers
Marxists
Rebels
etc..................

There are many positions to suit your gaming preferences.

I'm in as South Africa and I also have a International "Merc" Battalion called the "Dogs of War" who are Soldiers of Fortune and will kill a Commie for God anywhere in the world ........................for a price. ;)
