Jeez, I know some players have scored 100, but its not exactly done every day. Makes you wonder if they could block him or what?

Im surprised they didnt lose anyway. His whopping 6 assists (against...45, IIRC, shots) shows just how much of a one man team the poor Lakers really are. I wonder if theyll trade some of their trash away for Artest.

From what I hear it almost seems like that would simply create more problems. I don't really know much, though, I don't pay much attention to basketball.

Well...Artest has a good chance of causing problems to whichever team he ends up with. The thing is, the Lakers really do only have one consistant scorer (and really only one consistant PLAYER). Other than Bryant, Lamar Odom is the only even DECENT player on the team, and that just generally wont work come playoff time, assuming they even get that far.
If they can get Artest over there, theyll get a guy who can score AND defend pretty damn well. The problems with his attitude may be able to be overcome by Phil Jackson, etcetcetc. Artest is a complete prick, but he can PLAY. With a guy like Jackson to (maybe) keep him under some semblance of control, the Lakers could have a good chance of going pretty far.
I wouldnt say they can win the Finals, but they at least would have a shot at being there.
I also think it would be quite interesting to see the personalities of Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest collide.

Wilt Chamberlain is the ONLY player to score more than 81 in a game.
He scored 100 once (regulation game) and something like 79 once (in triple overtime).
81 is the second highest point total for a game in NBA history. Whether it's a one man team or not, it's hard to take anything away from that phenominal accomplishment.
Was Wilt Chamberlain a selfish player?
Noway.

Wow, he was the one I thought of, but I thought it had been done two or three other times. :o

My mistake...My memory isnt what it used to be. Bryant had 2 assists (not 6). He had 6 rebounds. Still a great achievement.
Also...it was the highest percentage of a teams overall score in the shotclock era, according to Sportscenter.

On that note, I want it known I agree....he's a selfish player. But sometimes I wonder if he get sick of seeing his teammates miss shot after shot and tries to take the Lakers franchise into his own hands.
Is he the greatest player ever? No way. Look how Jordon made EVERYONE on his team better. I don't think you can say the same of Kobe.
But the dude has GAME that is simply and utterly undeniable.

I cant believe Im showing sympathy for a (THE) Lakers player, being a Spurs fan and all, but yeah...thats got to get old. The team as a whole shot 47% in that game. Thats pretty good, right? Yeah....right up until you see that Bryant took 46 of their 88 total shots, and made 60% of those.
Lamar Odom went 1 - 7 (IIRC) for 8 points. Thats simply unnacceptable for the supposed second best player on the team.

Exactly right. The truly greatest players of all time (Jordan, Magic, etc) make the rest of their team better. Kobe Bryant, for whatever reason, simply doesnt do that. The guy that did that for the Lakers, and brought them all sorts of success recently, was Shaquille O'Neil.
NEXT DAY EDIT: Peja Stojakovic has been traded to the Pacers for Ron Artest. Interesting.

Yeah, he pretty much is crazy good. Did you hear the interview after the game?
