Jean Baptiste Jules Bernadotte, Prince of Pontecorvo, King of Sweden and Norway under the name of Charles XIV John in 1818 (1763 - 1844), Marshal of France in 1804.

Good luck.

Krüger - November 18, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
*sigh*, your not very good :P

He's British, and he served in the Peninsula War, and later, India.

Kihameria - November 18, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
I'm not very good-ed for not ansewering within a certain time ?
Well, probably because I didnt want to sound like a fool for thinking he was King Alber the second of Belgium ?
Well, no matter. Is it by any chance Picton ?

British Lion - November 19, 2005 12:44 AM (GMT)
Is it Lord Kitchener?
A brilliant soldier!......I've got that famous poster of him on my wall! :D

Krüger - November 19, 2005 05:45 PM (GMT)
Kitchener? lol...

Frontovik - November 19, 2005 06:34 PM (GMT)
Hugh Gough maybe?

Profler - November 19, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
It's not Viscount Combermere is it? Can't think of the face, but can recall the service.

Krüger - November 19, 2005 08:58 PM (GMT)
Frontovik, you bloody genius!

Frontovik - November 20, 2005 03:38 PM (GMT)
Wow, that was a guess after I read a bit on the Sikh war. I'll start looking for mine.

What is the class and nation of origion of the destroyer in the picture?

Looking at you profiler.

Krüger - November 20, 2005 07:11 PM (GMT)
Ceuta/Huesca class destroyer?

Frontovik - November 20, 2005 07:48 PM (GMT)
Nope, here's a hint, its not a European one.

Profler - November 21, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
Her lines look Japanese, inter war or WWII, though Soviet wouldn't be impossible. Afraid I couldn't hazard a guess as to the class.

Frontovik - November 22, 2005 02:22 PM (GMT)
You've got the nation of origion right.

Peachy Carnehan - November 25, 2005 12:56 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm not going to get this one. My expertise in terms of naval history stops at the difference between a carrier and a battleship.

I'm starthing to think no one will, If no one objects I'll post the answers tomrrow.

Falastur - November 25, 2005 11:20 AM (GMT)
heh. My expertise in terms of naval history stops at the end of the 18th Century, or thereabouts...and even then, my "expertise" before that is hardly "expertise".

Frontovik - November 27, 2005 11:00 PM (GMT)
Well its a Fubuki class destroyer, first launched in 1928 by Japan. Since Profler got very close (right nation and era) I say he gets the next question.

Two Royal Naval Officers deep in conversation, first to identify both of them gets a cookie.

Emperor Napoleon - November 30, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
hmmm, the guy on the left reminds me of the Freaking Kaiser

Falastur - December 1, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
The guy on the right reminds me of Roger Moore (a little)

I think I know the guy on the left, but it took me a little researching to work it out, so I won't say. Also, I'm not sure I could find a challenging-enough picture if I won this "round" anyway, so someone else can claim the glory.

Krüger - December 1, 2005 07:26 PM (GMT)
I know that on the right is Admiral Beatty.

So the guy on the left is probably Jellicoe?

British Lion - December 2, 2005 12:01 AM (GMT)
I differ with Mr Kruger slightly.
I say Jellicoe on the right and George V on the starboard side
Pre Battle of Jutland..possibly?
