Title: What music are you listening to now?
Description: Let's face it, music is one of...

Alameda - April 21, 2005 06:18 AM (GMT)
Let's face it, music is one of the best forms of expression; Whether it be politics, historic reflection or future asperation.

Right now I've gone back to my roots.

David Bowie.

We all know his classics, yea...Rebel Rebel, Time, Changes, Ziggy Stardust

Then we had Scary Monsters, Blue Jean, Ashes To Ashes and Let's Dance etc

I could really go on all night listing his greatest hits.

But right now I'm rediscovering his later works.

c.1993-Present.

Incredible.

Here's a play list I'm working on:

Disc One
Always Crashing In The Same Car (BBC Live 2000)
Stay (BBC Live 2000)
Survive (BBC Live 2000)
Seven (BBC Live 2000)
Let's Dance (BBC Live 2000)
If I'm Dreaming My Life (Studio c.1999)
Try Some Buy Some (Studio c.2003)
Everyone Says 'Hi' (Studio c.2002)
Slip Away (Studio c.2002)
Days (Studio c.2003)

Disc Two
Segue - Ramona A. Stone/I Am With Name (Studio c.1993)
Pallas Athena (Amsterdam Live 1997)
The Heart's Filthy Lesson (Amsterdam Live 1997)
Hallo Spaceboy (BBC Live 2000)
Little Wonder (BBC Live 2000)
I'm Afraid of Americans (BBC Live 2000)
Seven Years In Tibet (Studio c.1997)
Brilliant Adventure (Studio c.1999)
The Dreamers (Studio c.1999)
Segue - Baby Grace/A Horrid Cassette (Studio c.1993)

(I know there are a couple older tunes there, but they are redone live today, so they count :P)

Anyway, music is a real window into the soul.

I'll get back to you in the future with what other types of music/bands I like.
(hint.... Kein Mitleid Fur Die Merheit! hehe) ;)

Peace.

(BTW, most of my posts are edited because I'm a freakin perfectionist and can't live with public typos or bad grammer!!! Anal, I know LOL)

Miborovsky - April 21, 2005 06:46 AM (GMT)
Well I'm not listening to anything right now, but I can tell you what my iPod playlist looks like...

Propaganda. Propaganda. More Propaganda.

I have, erm, at a rough glance, 80 different versions of 'The Internationale', including 6 French versions, 4 German versions, 6 Chinese versions, 3 Russian Versions, multitudes of other languages, but unfortunately only 1 English version. :( There's even 2 JAPANESE versions of the Internationale in my iPod, see how much I value Internationale Camaraderie over petty nationalistic squabbles? )

3 albums of Nazi Kampflieder and Marches, including Das Horst Wessel Lied, BANNED IN GERMANY!!! :)

140+ national anthems of various countries, including staple fare such as Star Spangled Banner, Gimn Sovetskogo Soyuza, Deutschland über alles, God Save the Queen, La Marseillaise (favourite of the month), March of the Volunteers (worst national anthem in terms of tune, ever.)

A whole load of American patriotic songs, which sound really cheesy and are nowhere as inspirational as, say, the Soviet National Anthem. Even though I understand barely half of the Soviet Anthem.

Misc. pieces of propaganda, like Woody Guthrie's Jarama Valley, The Real Hussein by someone whose name I forgot, and Star Spangled Bannered, which is the lyrics of Star Spangled Banner sung over the music of the Soviet Anthem. (roxx0r!)

That's practically 15% of my iPod songs, am I addicted to propaganda or what? B)

Spot the public typo. :P

The Blue Danube for me, at any other time it'd probably be a game or movie soundtrack. When on the road, we listen to the Beatles and I'm kind of starting to like David Bowie.

Well it is getting to the point where he has been around so long, it's kinda hard not to notice him , huh. I think his 1st professional release was in 1967! (BTW, you do know he co-wrote 'Fame' with John Lennon, right? ;) )

Mib, you're going to be a virgin for life unless you find a woman (or guy) who has the same tastes. :D

Just listened to the French anthem, nice song, although it reminds me slightly of the American national anthem.

Yeah well my mother was 5 years old in 1967. I wasn't even conceived of until 23 years later.

The Real Hussein by someone whose name I forgot,

That song rocks! B)

American HiFi-Maybe Won't DO

For some reason that repulses me but atracts for its weirdness, this song sounds like the Brady Bunch.

I was born in 1969, I'm going to go cry now.

Peachy Carnehan - April 21, 2005 05:22 PM (GMT)
Well, right now I've been listening to some Pantera, notably the album titled "Vulgar Display of Power."

Later I'll probably pop in some Tool or Opeth. But my tastes vary from time to time.

Justinian - April 21, 2005 05:32 PM (GMT)
La Marseillaise (sp?) has a really great tune. I had it stuck in my head for days ... <_<

Mostly I listen to the Beatles, somehow the Smashing Pumpkins are being played as I type this (nargh), a bit of Radiohead (2+2=5) was playing before I started writing this ...

I listen to a lot of stuff.

But I won't tell you what I go to sleep at night listening to.

British Lion - April 21, 2005 11:36 PM (GMT)
"The Queen is Dead " by The Smiths,a little melancholy, but great music.
anything by "Portishead".
"Keane "are quite good too,in the same sort of vein as "Coldplay"
And you can't beat a bit of "Girls Aloud"!I wouldn't kick Kimberley out of bed on a cold night!Phwoaarrr!! ;)

Ok, it's time to show my dark side.

What do you think of KMFDM ?

Rip The System!
Throw it away!
No legislation
Can stand in our way!

Anti, Anti In the USSA!

It's a long story that started when I was 15 in 1984...always stuck with them.
I don't agree with them politically very often (*I am for legalizing pot tho).
But it's thier delivery I always admired.
They want change, so they go out and try to make a difference.

Gotta respect that, even if the message is a little absurd at times.

(*I do not in any way condone the use of pot, but it's silly to fill our jails up with potheads that sit around watching TV and eat snacks. Yea, there's a violent criminal if I ever saw one. Not.)

Miborovsky - April 22, 2005 06:03 PM (GMT)
Kein Mitleid für die Mehrheit?

Not my style.

Alameda - April 22, 2005 06:16 PM (GMT)
Believe it or not, you probably just put a smile on Sascha Konietizko's face. ;)

He doesn't like to be liked.

(P.S. He's the founder/programmer/singer for KMFDM)

And it actually stands for Kill Mother FU$&ing Depeche Mode.

Lord Rahl - April 22, 2005 10:14 PM (GMT)
When your either one of those you feel like you can interpret the song better. Like you have never before (especially stoned). You feel like you know what the song means.

Pink Floyd, The Wall, then Dark Side of the Moon, then Wis You Were Here.

It's a German band, and stands for Kein Mitleid für die Mehrheit, or is it Kein Mehrheit für die Mitleid, can't remember which. Mehrheit translates to majority, Mitleid I forgot (German 1 skill, hehe.)

Kill Mother F-cking Depeche Mode is their 'English name'.

Alameda - April 22, 2005 10:33 PM (GMT)
Dude, I've been a fan of thiers since 1984, don't you think I know that already?

I was being facetious.

(If you look in my other post somewhere here I alrady hinted to you Kein Mitleid Fur Die Merheit.

AKA NO PITY FOR THE MAJORITY!

Kill Mother Fu*&ing Depeche Mode was NEVER a real name for them. Here in America or anywhere. It was a rumour and made KMFDM chuckle. But they have stated it's always been Kein Mitlied....

Good lord, here.... http://www.kmfdm.com

The truth is a messin'
The politics are pissin'

We need a revolution
To Rip The System!
Millions are starving
And the rest are missin'

More & Faster
Here we come
White and trashy
And incredibly dumb

Enjoy yourselves
Crash, Boom, Band
The final solution
KMFDM!

(That's about the extent of my rap tastes hehe)

Cliomhdubh - April 25, 2005 03:53 PM (GMT)
rap is poetry and the reason i like it is that most of the time it tells a story unlike '000h i wann *** u' like some britney spears crap
eg akons ghetto

QUOTE
These streets remind me of quicksand (quicksand)
When your on it you'll keep goin down (goin down)
And there's noone to hold on too
And there's noone to pull you out
You keep on fallin (falling)
And noone can here you callin
So you end up self destructing
On the corner with the tuli on the waist tight just got outta the bing doin stay time
Teeth marks on my back from the canine
Dark Memories of when there was no sunshine
Cause they said that I wouldn't make it
(I remember like yesterday)
Holdin on to what god gave me

[chorus]

Cause thats the life when ur
Living in the (ghetto)and
Eating in the (ghetto)or
Sleeping in the (ghetto) (ghetto)
Cause thats the life when ur
Living in the (ghetto)and
Eating in the (ghetto)or
Sleeping in the (ghetto, ghetto, ghetto)

eminems the way i am
QUOTE
sit back with this pack of zig zags and this bag
Of this weed it gives me the shit needed to be
The most meanest mc on this -- on this earth
And since birth i've been cursed with this curse to just curse
And just blurt this berserk and bizarre shit that works
And it sells and it helps in itself to relieve
All this tension dispensin these sentences
Gettin this stress that's been eatin me recently off of this chest
And i rest again peacefully (peacefully)..
But at least have the decency in you
To leave me alone, when you freaks see me out
In the streets when i'm eatin or feedin my daughter
To not come and speak to me (speak to me)..
I don't know you and no,
I don't owe you a mo-ther****-in thing
I'm not mr. n'sync, i'm not what your friends think
I'm not mr. friendly, i can be a prick
If you tempt me my tank is on empty (is on empty)..
No patience is in me and if you offend me
I'm liftin you 10 feet (liftin you 10 feet).. in the air
I don't care who is there and who saw me destroy you
Go call you a lawyer, file you a lawsuit
I'll smile in the courtroom and buy you a wardrobe
I'm tired of all you (of all you)..
I don't mean to be mean but that's all i can be is just me

Chorus: eminem

And i am, whatever you say i am
If i wasn't, then why would i say i am?
In the paper, the news everyday i am
Radio won't even play my jam
Cause i am, whatever you say i am
If i wasn't, then why would i say i am?
In the paper, the news everyday i am
I don't know it's just the way i am

the Black Prince - April 25, 2005 03:55 PM (GMT)
westlife??? goood?????

as if

how on earth can you compare westlife to girls aloud? westlife were sucvessful, god knows how, but they were, but i hated them as much as i loathe rap and hip hop...

eminem is, i admit, a very talented person though, and i do actualy like some of his songs, but thats because he writes song... not a rsaping dirge... likje i say, he has talent, unlike most other hip hop and rap (errr to use the word very loosely) artists

Cliomhdubh - April 25, 2005 04:00 PM (GMT)
how were west life sucessful pretty simple they wooed all the little teen girls with their poncey looks and wooed all the old women by singing old songs they should have been called boyzone 2 but without the nasal singing.
they give the irish a bad name, except brian he just is a bit dim i mean who would leave kerry katona seriously, although delta has her charms
