3.5 years ago when i arrived here we had so many rabbits it looked like Blackpool at night . Once I had settled in we got on to the rabbits and in the early days we were getting over 500 a week but now the numbers are down we can control them and it has stayed steady since. No one would like to see the last of anything on an estate i'm sure .

We seem to be some thing of a rarity according to the shooting press, as we don't have that many rabbits, compared to other years.

I have a suspicion that we have VHD in some of the local rabbit population, but can't be absolutly sure.

I'd rather have them get VHD than Myxi, its certainly quick and you don't have dead rabbits lieing all over the place.

One minuter their threr and the next there gone. Its just like magic, kerboff!!!!

As you might expect I don't eat rabbit stew any more.:-)

Ive found the best way to control rabbits is with rifle and moderater lamping at night as ive found more bunnys spending more time on top of ground in day light hours . So ferriting is'ant helping me .We still get a good price for them from the butcher.

Big fish, hows the rabbiting going. My lads have had a couple of nights out and getting 70-80 a night but having to cover a lot of land. A friend of mine shot 225rabbits with a .17 one evening then the next day two of them went to shoot some pigeons and without putting out a decoy shot over 300 flighting over a wood throughout the day. The odd thing to this is that it was in Cornwall!
