Title: UNBELIEAVABLE

I happen to have a litter of Border terrier pups for sale, having sold all but a solitary male pup I re-advertised in the local press. Imagine my shock and horror when I answered a call from a an interested party who’s first question was “how much will you take for the dog”, the advert was clearly laid out with a price of £350 for the pups. This individual offered me £200, saying that I was not bartering on the price the caller said “I want him for badgering” Not quite sure that I had heard him correctly I asked him to repeat himself, but again he stated that he wanted him for badgering. I informed the caller that hunting badgers was illegal whereby he replied, “there’s a lot about and all my dog’s will hunt. I informed the caller that my dog’s were not available for illegal activities.

Are you sure it wasn't someone trying to catch you out? HK

It sounds like an anti ,seeing if you would take the bait.

The caller withheld his number so unfortunately I cant trace him, I hadn’t really thought of the possibility of the caller being an anti trying me out although I doubt it as he came across as being too thick to be able to disguise his intent. My reply was somewhat blunt to say the least made more potent by the recent “begging letter” I recently received from those officious representatives from the pauper pirate inland revenue who are intent on sucking the very marrow of those with nothing else to give.
I am pleased to say that the dog has since been sold as a pet to a wonderful family from the Machynlleth area.

Most people that do badgers are very very quiet about it and would not tell someone they dont know, especially over the phone that they want a terrier for badgering. You can be pretty certain that it was someone having you on or an anti.
Do the parents work just out of interest ?

I had an interesting chat with an individual today and when I recounted the phone call he immediately suggested that this could be the work of the R.S.P.C.A. investigation squad. Having thought about it I can’t really see anyone openly suggesting his intent as this caller did which means that it must be something more sinister. Does anyone else have any knowledge of this kind of incident?
Hi Georgehare, the dam is from a working background but she has only ever been a pet, the sire is predominantly a show dog but is regularly used by working terrier men..
