Title: Anglers support

I am aware that during the long protracted debate that resulted in the banning of hunting with more than two dogs some anglers publicly distanced themselves from hunting, probably in the belief (mistaken or not) that this would deflect any anti attention from their activity. Did this snub/avoidance ever cause a rift between the hunters and the anglers?

I don’t think a rift has formed it’s just media hype of a few insignificant people’s opinions. :ph43r:

You may well be a bit dismissive there Simon, I think that the objection raised by the anglers regardless of their numbers would have seriously harmed the fight that you had at the time, however that is old news now and we should all look to the future. Having heard Mr Cameron and his colleagues in the Conservative party suggest that if in power they would review the present hunting ban do you think that they would be true to their word and would we see a return to hunting as it was?

I don’t trust any politician a great deal and to be honest the hunting ban is best left how it is. The hunting ban works perfectly and is a complete failure depending on what side of the fence you sit and how far away you sit from it.

I don’t think the conservatives will change it as there is no political will and what would it achieve?

I just think people could find more worthwhile things to do that would probably be more beneficial to society than to go and become self appointed hunt monitors for the day. :(

That’s something of a shrouded answer there, which leaves a lot to the imagination. Forgive me if I am wrong but reading between the lines you’re opening sentence suggests that some people aren’t abiding by the spirit of the act and could be in breach of the law.
Personally I think that the Conservative party would re visit this emotive subject but would do so carefully and be extremely guarded. I don’t think that the hunt methods of old will ever return but possibly the middle ground that was once on offer namely licensed hunts could be a get out, what do you think?
