Has anyone had any experience of using auto; feeders for pheasants, some in our syndicate are suggesting we buy some to improve the returns, myself I'm not convinced .
We have used them in the past (one in each pen) and the birds do get trained to the sounder its something you would need to keep going all year but we do use them in addition to hand and hopper feeding.
Hi Amatex, the suggestion by some members was to start off with the feeders in the pen and then keep moving the out , i pointed out that the birds would stay within the feeder location and not return to the pen at night, so now we are looking to get three , one for the pen and two for out in the coverts, have you used letterbox feeders , the plastic ones , do you know if badgers can get to the grain, its good to know that the auto; feeders can work , thanks.
We use spring feeders in the woods and I use pan feeders on the rearing field as they are cleaner and not so wasteful. We don’t have any problems with badgers and I have no experience of letterbox feeders so let me know how you get on with them. Do you know if they fit those 120ltr plastic blue barrels?
