the shoot i am involved with always has maize growing near at least 1or 2 pens, the keeper always tries and gets a crew to push it through before the cutter starts but we're sure it accounts for a good percentage of poults and partridge. how do others go on?
We usually have a lot of maize and generally some next to one of our main release areas! We always stand it when cutting because obviousley charlie loves it and all these times ive never seen a poult killed and this forager goes at running speed. They just seem to run like hell between the maize and come out of the ends!
Im now riding over the maize stubble feeding on a regular basis and havent seen any evidence of dead birds!
