Has anyone seen that new person on the market selling Aniseed Oil and Aniseed powder? I've been using in the past supplies from other people...birdpuller and also Aniseed Oil from Carrs. The stuff this person is selling is top quailty and highly recommended to stop your birds from wandering. The company are called D Baitz Aniseed Supplies and can be seen in the NGO, Shooting Times and Sporting Gun magazines. If you havent seen the details, I can give you more info.

Well once again I'll be getting my aniseed from the same supplier. www.dbaitz.co.uk.
The guy can be a little tricky to get hold of on the phone as he works full time and this is only his part time hobby.

As a former keeper a little tip regarding aniseed. Some people are under the impression you add it to the feed and the birds will almost want to go to bed with you. It is an additive that birds associate with feed time and so to get the full benefit you need to keep the scent in the wood or the pen areas where you want the birds to stay. Add several drops to a small rag and hang several in places around the holding area. This keeps the scent active which the birds associate with home and food. Top up the rags every few days.

Ratman.
Your theory is right. Both adding to the feed and also to a rag or making a so called "lick" are both very effective. I know one keeper down in Salisbury that had over an 80% return on the birds during the last season by simply adding aniseed to the feed. I know for a fact that he, just like me, gets his stuff from dbaitz.www.dbaitz.co.uk
