Not the most pleasant photograph that I have ever seen and is more in tune with a video nasty.
Can I ask you why you feel a need to take such photos? I have no doubt that the fox in the picture died quickly once it had become exhausted and was captured by the pack of hounds but I fail to see the need to photograph the actual deed of the hounds tearing the body to pieces.
georgehare - April 8, 2007 05:48 PM (GMT)
i think its a great pic ramblingrose.
Ogi sorry if i wrong but you seem very anti, do you actually take part in any country sports ?
Ogi - April 8, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
My definition of an anti would be an individual who actively partakes in activities to disrupt any or otherwise interfere with hunting activities, I certainly do not fall into that category and therefore by definition I am not an anti.
I can understand that there may be occasions when the fox needs to be controlled and have no problem with that but I simply cant fathom why anyone would take delight in not only posting such a savage picture but actually taking it in the first place. I of course accept that the picture is an old one as hunting with more than two dogs is now unlawful.
happykeeper - April 9, 2007 12:35 PM (GMT)
I must admit i don't feel that photo's such as that one need to be posted on here and although i make my living out of fieldsports and support most i wouldn't get any pleasure in taken photo's like that and if i did i certainly wouldn't air them to everybody.Happykeeper

sorry if i caused offence it was not ment too, the fox had been shot, so the hounds did not kill it, the picture was taken by request of our retired keeper who at 80 still hates the old charlie,
only added it as i thought it came into the catagory "field sports and related images"
once again im sorry to of caused offence, ill be on best behaviour now!

Ramblingrose, please don’t feel that you caused me any offence in posting the picture, I am on this site to learn and not cause disharmony, I was merely interested in you’re mind set when posting the picture, as I simply fail to see the need to post such photos.
I have seen many photographs on many sights and have become quite hardened by now; also I have lived all of my life in the country and have witnessed countless animal suffering both natural and man educed.
ramblingrose - April 12, 2007 11:44 AM (GMT)
ps
i thought it was still legal to take hounds out to a gun?
Ogi - April 16, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
The legality of taking hounds out to gun is not what we are referring to here is it. It’s the morality of whether such photographs should be shown or indeed taken in the first place.
I fully understand why such photographs should be conserved for posterity and historical reasons but I think that there are more than enough in the photo albums to satisfy any future needs.
You may well view me as an outsider and quite possibly an anti but I regard myself as a mutual and as such have an open mind concerning hunting in all its forms.
Please do not become defensive with the questions that I pose as I am keeping an open mind in all meters concerning hunting.
I would love it if all concerned could actually say it as it is but unfortunately people have too much to lose in one way or another therefore you will never really get the true feelings that people have towards hunting, this is true of both pro and anti hunting.
It is a sad fact that some individuals who otherwise preach democracies will when it suits their needs practice dictatorship attitude and cause wanton damage and disruption, this is true of both pro and anti hunting.
