Title: Heavyweights
Mr Zektoll - April 17, 2007 12:57 AM (GMT)
On another forum I started getting into a conversation about the extremely dubious weights of the monsters in the Gamera giant monster movies.
http://www.tohokingdom.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14841So what do you all think of this? I've pretty much came to the conclusion that the Gamera weights are made of failure, but how much do you think something that size should actually weigh? Apparantly the monsters in the godzilla movies weigh too much for their size so that's not a good estimate either.
I made full sized Kfive weigh around 10000 tons, but that's based off of guyver universe weight values which may not be accurate either (Right now Kfive is capable of reaching Kahns full size of 100 meters(how big he was in the middle east), half sized kahn at 60 meters weighed a bit more then 5000 tons which is where those values came from)

Now this is something I can sink my teeth in. Well first, look at the size of Godzilla. The guy was taller than most buildings and there's no telling how much of his mass weight was in his tail alone.
It's hard to determine it, but by his size, I'd say 100,000 tons. Just an estimate though.

*whaps slowass*
He just said godzilla monsters ALLREADY weigh to much, and you go out throwing off a huge number like that.. Blaaaa
I always liked gamera as a kid.. before I realised the movies were just long winded public service announcements about how we shouldn't screw up out planet.
Plus some of the monsters were pretty stupid.
Still.. a flying turtle that can breath fire? How awesome is THAT?

Yeah alot of the old gamera movies werent that good, I liked Gamera vs Barugon and Gamera vs Gyaos alot though and also the original gamera where Gamera was the badguy. The three gamera movies made in the 90's though were made of awsome, especially gamera 3. Unfortunatly the new "Gamera the brave" that came out last year looks like it might be returning to its roots being a campy movie about about a giant turtle befeirnding a kid who wears short shorts, but I havent seen that yet so i can't judge it yet.
Showa Gamera was even lighter then heisei Gamera which this topic is about, Showa Gamera was 60 tons even though he was 60 meters tall so that was one ton per meter, he weighed as much as the little godzillasaurus from Godzilla vs King Ghidora!
Incidently when I was looking through the madguyvers datafiles, I noticed that Feargas Leprachaun weighs 60000 lbs, he weighs even less then the gamera monsters

*GB looks around perplexed. Still wondering who hit him*
Go here and look at this. Second paragraph.
http://www.abc.net.au/dinosaurs/fact_files...achiosaurus.htmMy estimate wasn't enough. In truth, if he was real, he'd probably weigh 5 times or more to the that of brachiosaurus.
Mr Zektoll - April 18, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
But you said 100 000 tons, the brachiosaurus weighed 70-80 tons. Also it'd probably be alot more then five, because while the height difference between gamera and the brachiosaur was around five, alot of the brachiosaurs height is due to its long neck, also its body is much slimmer then Gameras.

Well.. his head is hollow... so that cuts down on like.. eleventy billion pounds.

Yeah, those were some typos I put in on purpose. To see if you would go for it.
But anyways, sense brachiosaurus was one of the largest land animals, you could probably get an estimate on how many could fit into one of the monsters like Gamera and find a descent, weight estimate.
BloodStorm - April 19, 2007 03:04 PM (GMT)
Unfortunatly, it doesn't work like that, GB. As size increases, so does mass. It's like an ant. If you had an ant that was 10 times bigger than a normal ant (assuming the exoskeliton didn't implode becuase they can't handle large sizes with the earth's current atmospheric pressure) then it would be closer to 50 times the weight of the original.
This is due to complex things like gravity.. various mathimatical formulas I can't be bothered to remember the names of, but I know they exist.. and also solar winds.
okay, probobly not so much solar winds.
For another example.. Take a 100 pound guy... hell, lets take two, they're small. Put these two 100lb guys next to a 200lb guy. I can almost garentee you that the 200lb guy is NOT twice as big as the 100lb guy. Nor will you be able to fit both 100lb guys in the same space as the 200lb guy.
See! That's Science! Sceince makes it real!
Ghrecki - April 19, 2007 03:13 PM (GMT)
I've seen some stuff like this. mass does increase with size.
two 100 km moons does not equal the mass of one 200 km moon.
and yes I did use an example from a webcomic but it's right.
if you don’t recognize my example than you need to read freefall.
guyver's bane - April 20, 2007 11:30 AM (GMT)
I'm not talking about fitting them inside, I was referring to their mass. How much mass would it take to equal to something like Godzilla or Rodan. You know? How many brachiosaurs would it take to eqaul its mass.
Mr Zektoll - November 8, 2007 12:36 AM (GMT)
So yeah getting back to this I just happened to be looking around in the DF's I noticed Ghreckis ship is extremely light, it makes the gamera weight values look heavy.
| QUOTE |
| Weight: unknown (somewhere between 9640 tons and 6004 tons) |
The two hundred meter tall Kfive (using guyver universe weight values) weighs about 2- 4 times as much as Gherckis ship which is about 250 times larger then Kfives current maximum size.
Ghrecki - November 8, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
I was just guessing there as the ark has no listed weight that I could find.
I'll beef up it's weight sometime soon... or it's estimated weight at least
guyver's bane - November 30, 2007 09:04 PM (GMT)
Check this. To the last Godzilla file. This should end his weight and height debate.

Mr Zektoll - November 30, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
I already saw that, the thing is the toho weight values have the opposite problem of Gameras, their too high for a creature that size.
BloodStorm - December 1, 2007 03:19 PM (GMT)
So, Z.. in your opinion.. how much SHOULD godzilla weigh?
Mr Zektoll - December 1, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
Well a blue whale at 33 meters weighs around 200 tons which is a bit heavier then the gamera monsters which are much larger.
The largest version of godzilla is 100 meters tall which is a bit more then 3 times the length of the blue whale, however he's also much bulkier then the blue whale all around, not to mention his tail which should weigh alot as well.
This is just a rough guess but I would say godzilla should weigh somewhere between 2000-3000 tons
BloodStorm - December 2, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
*looks up the weight according to giant monster rampage, a game by Mystic Eye Games*
.. the average monster in this game is between 30-50 thousand tons..
Hrmmm.. that's pretty fucking heavy.. even for radioactive mutant freaks of nature...
There's even one monster that's pretty much just a giant butterfly and it weights 54thousand tons.
Fun game, but the tonnage is a little off.
