Title: My Grandfather

Riven - January 18, 2007 11:17 AM (GMT)
Um.... I might not be on much for a while

My Pop (grandfather) passed away during the night.

He went in his sleep thankfully and was very peaceful, but right now I need to be with my family so I probably wont be on much, if at all for awhile.

I'll probably be popping in every now and then over the next week or so because my pop wouldn't want me to stop my life and mope around all depressed.

Anyway, I see yahs when I see yahs

Aww, Riven, i'm sorry to hear that. Take comfort in the fact that he died peacefully and in his sleep. The best way to go. Take your time, mourn and think of all the times you had together.

We'll all be here whenever you decide to return.

Well its done

Today we had my pops funeral. It was a beautiful service, had Amazing Grace as the "Entrance" music sung by the guy that played the main character in that british comdey called Some Mothers Do Have them and the song we picked out for the end was a favorite of my pops, sung by Slim Dusty, called Looking Forward, Looking Back and that was really good to.

He was born Octuber 25th 1941, and died January 18th of 2007, he was 65 years old.

Church was packed, had people standing outside even because there simply wasn't any more room at the church and the holiday park where he and my nan live had there flags half masked (I think thats the proper spelling?) which they do for all their residence that have passed on.

We've spent most of the day chatting with family and old friends of the family about the good times, joking and laughing. I think it was a send off my pop would be proud of.

I'm hoping things will return to normal soon now that the funeral is over and done with, we just have to wait for his ashes now
