Chapter 1:
A Meda-Way

Prologue

It was turning to night fast as the young boy walked through the streets with his Medabot, walking along side him. He had cut through an old industrial area, thinking it would be a quick way home, which it probably would have been if he had actually known where he was going.
As he looked up he saw that very dark clouds had rolled in and he could see a faint glow appearing in the distance in the clouds and he knew instantly that a storm was coming. This served to make him speed up his steps.

“I should have just caught the bus” Rune muttered under his breath, already feeling the cool wind sweeping over the city, his eyes then darted from side to side. “Besides, someone’s watching us and I hate being watched.”

He had said it just loud enough for whoever was watching them to hear him, a few seconds later, amused laughter filled the air and he looked straight ahead as three shadows appeared, two guys one no taller then six feet and the second had to have been a good eight feet tall, while the third was a woman about five foot nine. All three wore ridiculous looking rubber suits.

“We are the Rubber Robo gang and we’re here for you rare medal kid, hand it over or we’ll take it from you by force” demanded the smaller guy.

“You obviously have no idea who I am or you wouldn’t so boldly be challenging me to a match” Rune said with a smirk, confident in his abilities.

“We know who you are, that’s why we want your medal!” the woman announced loudly.

“I don’t think so. You’d have to beat me first and there’s no way that’s going to happen, because we have the most powerful weapon on our side and we won’t be beaten by the likes of you” Rune said, taking a defensive stance as did his Medabot.

“I was hoping you would say that” said the smaller man with a smirk of his own. “Juggernaut! Come on out!!”

The ground shook as Rune heard heavy foot steps and looked around in confusion and even a little fear. Then suddenly a car was pushed out of the way as if it were a toy and a hulking Medabot came walking into view. It was tall, had four arms – two on each side – one pair were quad shooters and the second pair were crushing fists and it had two missile launchers on its shoulders, it was a walking monster of a Medabot.

Juggernaut
Medafighter: Crabguts
JUG-35689-0
Illegal Type
Specialty: Endurance
Other Specialty: Crushing and Shooting

“What the hell is that? There’s no way that thing can be a Medabot! Its too huge!” Rune said in disbelief, he didn’t fear losing, he feared for his Medabot knowing that this thing was going to be nothing like any other Medabot they had ever fought before.

“Its one of the most powerful kinds of Medabots, a type that was thought to be too powerful for just any Medafighter to control but that didn’t stop us from acquiring a bunch of these for our organization. Still only the most skilled of the Rubber Robo gangs, like me” the smaller man explained with a satisfied smile.

“Zeri, are you sure you want to fight this thing?”

“Don’t worry about me Rune, I’ll take care of this thing no problem” Zeri said and took a few steps forward.

Zeri
Medafighter: Rune Daniels
DVL-42212
Devil Type
Specialty: Hammer Fist

“Lets go Juggernaut!!”

“Attack Mode, Zeri!”

Zeri ran forward as Juggernaut raised its quad shooters and fired, the smaller Medabot skillfully dodged each attack before one came a little too close and forced him to strafe to the side, avoiding more shots. He sprung into the air suddenly and flipped through the air before landing behind Juggernaut and delivering what would have normally been a finishing blow from its Hammer Fist attack, but Juggernaut barely moved an inch from the attack, whereas Zeri’s arm had cracked from the punch.

“50% damage to right arm” announced Rune’s medawatch.

Suddenly Juggernaut spun around, two of its arms catching Zeri in the side of the head and sending the Medabot flying to the side.

“70% damage to head unit, function cease imminent” reported the watch.

“Zeri, fall back! Get out of there” Rune ordered is Medabot in a panic as Zeri struggled to get back up, its right arm had turned a darker shade and had smoke raising up off of it.

“No, I will not fail you” Zeri replied stubbornly.

“How did you ever win the World Robattle Championships?” his opponent asked cruelly causing his two companions to laugh.

“Zeri, you can’t win this, run the hell away!!” Rune screamed.

Zeri ignored him again and rushed the illegal Medabot, skillfully dodging shot after shot that Juggernaut fired at it, but only by inch. Rune knew if he didn’t think of something quick Zeri was going to be trashed. His eyes quickly scanned the illegal Medabot, searching for a weakness, but its armor was thick enough to withstand a Hammer Fist, so of course he knew finding any sort of weakness would be hard.
Zeri ducked under one of Juggernaut’s punches and slammed his fist into the giant Medabots side but a second later a dozen cracks appeared in the fist and the arm ceased to function. Juggernaut suddenly grabbed the smaller Medabot by its useless arm and simply crushed it beyond repair and threw Zeri into a wall, causing almost 100% damage to the rest of Zeri’s body.
Right then, Rune knew there was only one thing that could work against something like Juggernaut.

“Zeri!” Rune yelled into the watch, pausing for a moment. “Use the Medaforce!!”

Zeri came to a skidding halt a few feet away, taking a couple of seconds to register what his Medafighter has just told him to do. He looked back at Rune and just nodded before closing his eyes and focusing on the power deep inside of him. A dark purple glow started to form around him seconds later as he felt the Medaforce flowing through him.

“Ha! You think you can beat us with that?” the man asked in amusement. “Juggernaut! Use the Medaforce to pulverize these punks!”

“What!!” Rune’s eyes went wide as horror filled his body, then he saw the silvery glow appearing around Juggernaut. “No! Zeri! No get out of there! RUN!”

“MEDAFORCE!” Zeri and Juggernaut both screamed at the same time.

Rune was blasted back by the shockwave, the last thing he saw was the bright combined light of the two Medaforce attacks before he was taken by the darkness…..

He didn’t know how long he had been out to it, but when he woke up it was wet, rain was pelting down on him and his body ached with pain as he tried to move, his body cold and his muscles tired. He lifted his head slightly and saw Zeri’s body laying on the ground across from him. Using every bit of determination, Rune pulled himself across the ground with what little strength was left in him, it took him probably good five or seven minutes before he had gotten himself next to his fallen Medabot. He ran his hand over the back of the Medabot, he found the medal case open, and when he ran his fingers along inside it, he felt the medal missing.

“No” he whispered, tears forming in his eyes as he slumped against the ground, all fight leaving him as he fell against the ground. “Zeri, I’m sorry…………”

Three Years Later

Medabot Museum

A figure in a white cloak, with a black face mask like that used by stager performers in old dramas that had crimson red eyes, pulled open a panel on a security box and using the tools he held in his hands he expertly rewired it and with a hiss the door slid open and gave him access to the vault where his main objective was. Sitting in the middle of the room was a half pillar with a glass box on top of it, and inside the boxy were three old medals that had stuff encrusted on them and one was even chipped.
He was about to step in when he suddenly stopped, his foot hovering barely an inch above the sensor of one of the many beams that crossed the room like a chest board. He pulled a small silver packet from his pockets and pressed his thumb against something hard inside it, instantly it started to inflate and he chucked it into the middle of the room. Not long after the packet busted open and soft blue mist poured out and revealed the red beams across the floor.
He shook his head and after taking a few steps back he ran forward and at the last moment he leapt forward, twisting his body around as his hands went out and pushed off against the floor as he started to back flip across the room to the pillar. He skillfully avoided the beam sensors as he showed off his acrobatic skills before finally coming to a stop in front of the pillar.

“This is boring” he said in a deep voice, before taking out a glass cutter and making a large hole in the top of the box and swiftly removing the medals inside. “All too easy” he shook his head in discuss and then turned around suddenly sirens started going off and he realized that the medals had been resting on a pressure switch. The door was closing quickly and so not bothering to avoid the beams the thief dashed forward, making it out just as the door closed behind him.

“Halt you!” came a shout from down the hall and he looked up to see four security guards running towards him.

Not stopping, the thief rushed forward to meet them, as one lashed out with a baton he kicked his foot out and sent the baton flying into the air which he caught as it was coming down and quickly threw at the guard the furthest away, getting him straight between the eyes with it and knocking him out as he then executed a perfect spinning heel kick that caught a third guard in the side of the head, he then spun around and finished the forth off with a jumping spin kick that smashed the poor guy against a wall.

“You guys need a raise” the thief said and then ran off, running straight for a window, which he jumped through, glass shattering all around him as he jumped out of the four story high building, his cloak bellowing around him with his long black hair flowing out behind him. He looked down and was not surprised to see a group of Rubber Robo trying to sneak across the grounds. Calmly he took out a device and threw it at them, seconds later it exploded the rubber wearing freaks were entangled in a wire web. The thief landed and then rebounded back into the air to land on top of the museum gates before looking back at the guards rushing out onto the grounds and the struggling Rubber Robo’s. “Once again, you have been outsmarted by the Master Thief, Lonewolf! Its been a blast!” with that he threw down a smoke bomb and disappeared from site

The Next Day

“In top news today, the notorious Medal thief, Lonewolf struck again last night, stealing three Rare Medals last night from the Medabot Museum of History. The security contract at the Museum has come under fire as the thief somehow managed to get past all the security guards and made it to the Museum vault where he apparently bypassed the security system which was boasted by the manufactures to be the best in the world. Police are investigating the company that installed the system under the suspicion that one or more of the employees might have assisted the thief. World renowned father of Medabots, Dr. Aki was asked to speak but was unavailable to comment” the female news reporter said emotionlessly. “And in other news, the price of chicken eggs gone up again…..”

“I wish they would catch that awful Lonewolf, he’s nothing but a menace and a bad influence on children” said Rune’s mother as she stuck her fork into her eggs.

“Yeah, but you forget that he always stops any Rubber Robo’s that are around” Cain, Rune’s little brother said as he shoveled some pancakes into his mouth. “Besides, would you rather an evil organization benefit from the money they’d make on the black market from selling these medals or would you rather one guy with seemingly no intentions to use the medals other for the purpose of looking at?”

Rune looked at his brother. For a twelve year old, Cain was one of the most mature kid he had ever known, all the things that other kids his age were into didn’t interest Cain in the least, he was more interested in getting good grades and for someone so young, he was a genius. Rune sometimes wondered if it was healthy for someone like Cain who still had so much time as a kid left to be spending, all his time studying. Rune knew that what happened to him three years ago was in part responsible for Cain’s disinterest towards Medabots. Rune tried to explain to his brother once that just because he had a bad – scratch that, a horrible – experience with a Medabot didn’t mean he would too, but Cain was very stubborn. Rune’s three other halves, his brothers Trey and his sister had had similar talks with him, including their estranged brother, Zeptha had tried talking some sense into him.

“If he keeps Rubber Robo’s from being free then he’s ok in my book” Rune said calmly, calmly taking a swing of his juice, he ignored the combined looks that Cain, his mother, Trey and Kelly all gave him. They all knew he held probably the greatest hatred for the evil gang. They had left a wound in his heart that had never healed and he hadn’t robattled since that unfortunate night, and he had quit all his positions in all the clubs he was involved in. He had retired from all Medabot related events and only helped Trey and Kelly maintain their own Medabots, but he couldn’t bring himself to use another Medabot.

“Do you want one of us to come with you today?” his sister asked carefully.

“Don’t be silly, there’s no need for you to waste you day because of me. I’m only going to be spending a few minutes there and then I’ll be coming back here” he replied calmly as if nothing was wrong, he just didn’t want them to worry about him, but revisiting the place where he had been defeated was the only way he could remind himself not to be so stupid ever again.

“Well, we kind of have something for you” Trey said.

Rune narrowed his eyes almost dangerously. “What kind of thing?” his family had tried several times to get him back into Medabots, but each attempt had failed so far.

“Come on” they said and he reluctantly followed them.

His suspicions were right as usual. When he walked into the room he saw it sitting in the middle of the room, a black Medabot that looked very much like a STG Medabot but somehow, more advanced. Before Trey could react Rune had him by the collar of his shirt and slammed him against a wall with an animalistic snarl.

“Why today?! Today of all days!! Why?!” he demanded as he held Trey a good eight inches of the ground.

“Because your as miserable as ever lately Rune, your grades started getting worse, you snap at people without reason, do you want me to go on, because I can" Kelly explained.

Rune didn't reply, he knew it was true, but he just didn't care.

"Kelly, look at me, do I looked moved by what you've just said? I thought I made it perfectly clear to everyone that I don't want anything to do with Medabots anymore" Rune replied. “What made you think I would replace Zeri with another Medabot? He was one of a kind, there is no way I’ll ever replace him, especially on today, the anniversary of him being stolen you twit!”

Like a crack of lightning, Kelly struck Rune across the face with a powerful slap, catching him by surprise and making him drop Trey, who calmly stood there just staring at his brother carefully.

“Rune, unlike Kelly or myself, you were born to robattle, you have abilities that not many Medafighters have and that was what made you such a great Medafighter, Zeptha is like you as well and even he – as much as he hates you – understands that you need to be a Medafighter. Yes you lost the most important match of your life but Zeri’s gone, he not coming back but he would not want you to give up what your best at because of that. He would want you to keep going, to keep fighting and be the best Medafighter in the world, like you always wanted. That battle you lost was the end of a chapter in your life, now its time to start a new chapter as your story has been left unfinished. That Medabot is the key to the next chapter. This is your story, and you will finish it, even if we have to make you” Trey told him.

Rune didn’t say anything though, he just stood there, his cheek stinging and his hands clutched tight and trembling from anger and uncertainty, how could they ask him to do this? He knew they wanted him to be happy, but they had no idea what it was like to loose a Medabot, they had only lost robattles and medaparts, never their medals. Still he knew they were right, being a Medafighter seemed to make everything right in his life and since he had quit everything had gone wrong, he had lost friends due to his short temper and self isolation and his school work had also greatly suffered, he was at the point where he was going to get kicked out.

“O……… Ok……. I’ll do it” he said slowly, breathing out a deep sigh. Kelly handed him a small dark red box, he opened it slowly and there was a Medabot medal with a red gem in the middle. It was a beetle medal, a Kabuto type. With a small reluctance left in him he took the medal out and stared at the black Medabot, he already had a name in his mind. “Here goes nothing! Activate Arcsaber!!” he yelled as the panel on the back flipped open and he pushed the medal in.

There was a low hum as the Medabots systems started up, and the three siblings stood there waiting for it to start up. Then a pair of red eye optics lit up and the Medabot came to life. It looked around almost in confusion, then it turned around and looked from Trey to Kelly and then to Rune.

Arcsaber
Medafighter: Rune Daniels
STG-19207
Shadow Saber-Tooth Tiger -type
Specialty: Shooting
Other Attacks: Hand to Hand Combat

“I’m Rune, your Medafighter” he told the Medabot calmly.

Surprisingly the Medabot raised its quad shooter at them and started firing. Rune grabbed Kelly and pulled her behind lounge, barely avoiding the lasers as they whizzed past. Trey joined them a second later breathing heavily with a freak look on his face.

“Where the hell did you get that Medal from?!” Rune hissed at his brother and sister.

“Zero at 24M-Shop gave us the Medal. He gave it to us for free when we told him we trying to get you back into Medabots” Kelly explained quickly.

“We’ve known Zero since we were only kids, when has he ever given away anything for free? The only time he does that is when there’s something wrong with whatever it is he’s trying to get rid of!” Rune snapped at them. He shook his head and tried to think of something. “Where’s the medawatch so I can eject his Medal by remote?” Trey went to reply, his mouth opening but no sound came out as a sickening realization came over his face. Rune and Kelly gave him a dry look. “Trey, I swear if you tell me you left it next to the Medabot, I’m going to rip your arms off and beat you to death with them” Rune warned dangerously.

“Then I won’t tell you” Trey laughed nervously.

Rune growled in exasperation as he restrained himself from doing something he would regret later on. Rune just closed his eyes to think for a second, eventually he opened his eyes and sighed, there was only one thing he was going to be able to do, and he didn’t like it one bit.
Without warning he jumped up and bolted out of the room just as a line of lasers blasted away a lamp. Arcsaber chased after him, firing single shots to try and take him down instead of a barrage of lasers. Rune dropped without warning as he crossed the kitchen and slid across the well polished floor like a baseball player and slid through another door into another section of the house, startling the kitchen staff as he did.
After almost a minute of running through the house, Rune came to a large door and without bothering to stop to open it, he just slammed his whole body against it and sent the doors flying open as he crashed into the robattle practice room their father had had built for them when they had all became Medafighters. That had been a few years before he had died.
Suddenly Rune heard Arcsaber coming up behind him and he turned around and backed back further into the room, with Arcsaber pointing its quad shooter at him.

“Ok kiddy cat, your in my territory now!” Rune hissed as he prepared himself, but he knew that this Medabot now had him in his sights, he was at point blank range and he knew he’d have no chance of avoiding the next shot. “Go on you over grown piece of scrap! Shoot me!” Rune yelled at it.

“Shoot you? Why would I want to do that?” came a voice that took Rune a couple of seconds to realize belonged to Arcsaber. Rune stared dumbly at it, blinking stupidly. “I was only having a little fun, you don’t have to yell at me.”

“You….you shot at me!” Rune snapped. “I’m your Medafighter god damn it! You only shoot when I tell you to!!”

“Why should I listen to you?” the STG Medabot asked, turning away from him with his arms folded.

Rune just stood there trembling in anger, his mouth moving but no words coming out, then his attention was brought back to the door as Kelly and Trey came running in with their own Medabots read to fight.

Destiny
Medafighter: Kelly Daniels
SLR-191218-3
Sailor Type
Specialty: Shooting
Medal: Ninja

Ironclaw
Medafighter: Trey Daniels
KBT-11220-2
Hercules Beetle Type
Specialty: Prominence
Medal: Kabuto

“Attack mode Ironclaw!” Trey yelled and Ironclaw ran forward suddenly, charging at Arcsaber at full speed as it prepared to punch, but Arcsaber side stepped the charging Medabot and then fired a blank point shot from his quad shooter that got Ironclaw directly in the head and blasted it to the side with tremendous force.

“Head part function ceased!” chimed Trey’s medawatch as Ironclaw’s medal popped out, leaving Rune, Kelly and especially Trey standing there in complete shock, their jaws all but touching the ground as they looked back and forth between Arcsaber and the defeated Ironclaw.

“H...he defeated Ironclaw with one shot” Trey said, unable to believe his eyes as he stared at the limp heap of junk that was his Medabot.

“Finally a challenging fight” Kelly said with a little fire in her eyes as she stared back at Arcsaber and Rune as their brother still in shock made his way to his defeated Medabot. Kelly suddenly passed Rune his Medawatch which he caught instinctively without even realizing what it was at first, then he stared at her confusedly. “Come on Rune, I want a robattle, just like the good old days” she told him determinedly.

“Your on!” Arcsaber said without waning.

“Hey! I’m the one that decides whether or not your going to battle you little piece of defective trash!” Rune snapped in irritation, awfully tempted to take a sledge hammer to the STG type’s head just to satisfy his own temptation. Still for some reason the thought of a robattle suddenly ignited a fiery passion within that he had never felt when he had tried robattling after Zeri had been taken from him. It was a sensation that he had missed without even knowing, but he wondered why he suddenly felt the same feeling now, with Arcsaber as a member bot and not the other he had tried with three years ago. “Alright, Kelly, your on but just because you’re my sister doesn’t mean I’m going to go easy on you” he warned.

“Nor will I with you” she grinned.

Rune and Arcsaber put some distance between her and Destiny, before he spoke into the medawatch. “Ok, listen Arcsaber, Destiny is no push over so…”

“Prepare to kiss your bot goodbye!” Arcsaber yelled, totally ignoring Rune as he ran forward, bringing his arm up to fire at the SLR type.

“Destiny he’s going to shoot to your right so dodge to the left and circle around to shoot him in the side” Kelly quickly ordered without taking her eyes off Arcsaber, she could see that it wasn’t listening to Rune, or this battle could very well be over in a couple of seconds.

Destiny shot off to the left just as Arcsaber opened fire, her quick movement startled the STG and caused him to falter momentarily before feeling sharp pain in his side, it was then that he realized that he had just been hit. Acting fast Arcsaber jumped into the air and avoided the next volley of shots and flipped backwards several times with the grace of a cat, and then as it finally came to a stop it shot off again, this time running to the side as another blast of lasers struck the ground where he had been standing just for a second.

“Now will you listen to me?!” Rune snapped angrily. “Destiny is equipped with a Ninja Medal making her fast, plus half of her armor has been removed to make her even faster. The power output of her lasers cannons was increased because of it, if your not careful she can take you out with just a couple of hits” he told the fast moving Arcsaber.

“How do you suggest I beat her then?” Arcsaber asked with a little a hiss.

“Your other specialty is Hand to Hand Combat, engage her in it, you will have the advantage but be careful, she know hand to hand fighting as well” Rune informed him.

Arcsaber inwardly nodded and without so much as stopping, rushed towards Destiny who was trying to circle around him but with no luck and his sudden change of direction startled her greatly and gave just the time he needed to deliver a punch that connected with her chest sent her flying backwards.

”Warning! 55% damage to torso!” warned Kelly’s watch.

“Destiny attack with a flying kick!” Kelly ordered.

Flipping up quickly Destiny just managed to avoid a volley of shots and ran towards Arcsaber. She executed a flying kick that Arcsaber ducked under and then delivered an uppercut that caught her in the head as she was landing this sent her flying up into the air and wasting no time, Arcsaber pointed his quad shooter up and unloaded a hail storm of bullets that blasted against Destiny’s body and caused a build up of smoke around her body, creating a cloud. As Arcsaber stopped firing, Destiny’s body dropped to the ground like a dead wait and upon impact her Medal was ejected.

“Dude. I rock” Arcsaber said smoothly.

Later That Night

That night, Kelly and Trey were Rune’s room with Arcsaber, Ironclaw and Destiny all sitting around too. Rune had to admit, winning a robattle had felt good and the match had set his blood on fire, he actually couldn’t wait to battle again. That was when Kelly pulled something out from her pocket and unfolded a large poster with a Medabot on it.

“There’s a City Wide Robattle Tournament being held in four days, I think this would be the perfect place for you to announce your coming out of retirement, of course you’ll have to do it dramatically by winning the tournament first, so no one can know that its you in the tournament and as we’re the only ones who know that you have a Medabot so it will be easy to do” she explained to him.

He stared at her for a moment. “You’ve been planning this for a long time haven’t you?” he asked.

“Un huh” she nodded cheerfully. “I even made you a costume and a mask” she said and ran out of the room, only to return a few seconds later with a black cloak and an almost skin tight white make with two holes for his eyes and one for his mouth. It looked ridiculous. “See, you can wear this and no will ever know its you” she said.

“Yeah but when they find out it was him wearing that they’ll never take him serious again. You can’t really expect him to wear that ridiculous looking thing can you?” Trey laughed upon seeing the costume.

Kelly suddenly seemed to grow extremely tall and very menacing as she towered over her two brothers who were instantly cowering. “What’s wrong with it?!” she demanded.

“Nothing! Nothing at all!” Trey cried.

“Alright, I can’t wait to win this thing” Arcsaber said confidently.

“I would cool down a bit tin head” Rune said calmly, causing Arcsaber to growl dangerously, but Rune seemed unaffected as he stared off into space. “I know of at least one person that will be there that has a chance of beating us, and he hasn’t lost a city tournament since I retired. He’s going to fight hard” he continued.

“Yeah, Zeptha has already signed up for it” Kelly confirmed, growing serious as well as they all thought about their estranged brother, but then Rune suddenly got up and walked towards the door. “Where are you going?” his sister asked.

“Down to the vault, I want to check on a few parts that I might need for the tournament, I want to make sure they’re working condition” he explained, and walked out with Arcsaber quietly following him, unbeknownst to Rune.

It quiet as he walked downstairs, it was almost the middle of night and all the servants had gone to sleep. He walked to the side of the stair case where a metal door was placed, he punched a code into the electronic locking device and with a ping the door opened revealing another set of dimly lit stairs that descended into what had once been a basement. The vault as they called it contained all their Medaparts and repair tools and other little gadgets, and was extended under half the house. All the medaparts were divided on three separate racks, one of which belonged to Trey, another to Kelly and the last to Rune. But the medaparts weren’t what Rune was down here for. On the work bench sad the mangled body of Zeri, its crushed fist, its cracked body and scorched armor plates. It was useless.

“Who was that?” Arcsaber suddenly asked, causing Rune to scream in surprise and fear as he turned around to see his new Medabot.

“Don’t ever sneak up on me you little son of a” Rune stopped himself before going to far and concentrated on bring his breathing back to normal. “If you must know, this Medabot, was my first Medabot” he said somewhat calmly, but there was a little edge in it that told Arcsaber to back off.

“What happened to him?” Arcsaber asked, unfazed by Rune’s tone.

Rune sighed exasperated. “Two months after we had won the World Robattling Championship, we were attacked by the Rubber Robo Gang, they forced me into a submission robattle where the loser would give up their medals. I was so damn confident in my abilities as a Medafighter, and Zeri’s own abilities that I didn’t think I could lose, so I agreed. However they used an illegal type Medabot that was way too powerful for Zeri to beat. In the end I was knocked out and when I came to, Zeri’s medal was gone… That was three years ago” he explained quietly, just managing to keep his voice calm and collected.

“Whoa, that sucks” Arcsaber said calmly.

“Yeah it does. The Select Corps tried to catch them, but this new Rubber Robo Gang is different from the previous one, these ones are more serious and more determined, smarter, stronger and all around more skilled than ever before. Still I swear that if I ever have the chance, I will get Zeri’s medal back, one way or another, I will get my revenge against those three rubber wearing freaks even if it’s the last thing I do” Rune growled lowly.

“I can’t believe you were a World Robattling Champion” Arcsaber said suddenly, though he still a bit doubtful.

“Believe it, I was the team captain of Team Australia” Rune said, just a little proudly.

“Really, who’d you beat?” Arcsaber asked again, this time sounding just a bit more interested.

“A guy called Ikki Tenyro and his KBT type Medabot, I swear that was the toughest match of my life, that duo were just as determined as me and Zeri. Metabee and Zeri went at it for awhile, they took out their right arms, Metabee damaged Zeri’s knee cap and Zeri managed to knock out Metabee’s knee cap. In the end it they both used the Medaforce, the ultimate power of the rare medals, it was a battle of wills, and Zeri’s was just a little bit stronger then Metabee’s. Still I would like a rematch as I don’t think Metabee was at his best that day, I’d seen them fight other teams and something was wrong Metabee” Rune pointed out.

“Are you going to try and get on the next team?” Arcsaber asked.

“Maybe” Rune nodded slowly. “Depending on how well we do at the City tournament because I know there will be a few contenders their that we could have trouble with. My brother is my biggest rival and his own best friend, that bastard won’t lose so easily especially not to someone he thinks is a new comer to the ring.”

“But, Trey knows you’re going to be fighting” Arcsaber pointed out in confusion.

“Not Trey, my other brother, Zeptha” Rune replied with a slight frown. “Trey, Kelly, Zeptha and I are quadruplets. For reasons to complicated and to extensive to go into right now, our father gave Zeptha to a woman he was having an affair with when Zepthha was born, apparently this woman couldn’t have children or something, but anyway, Zeptha grew up with her and for the most part, became an utter asshole. It wasn’t until Trey, Kelly and I became Medafighters that we met him though and boy did the shit hit the fan then. My father’s dirty little secret came out, and we finally learnt that we had another brother. However, during the whole thing, my father had a heart attack and died and Zeptha blames us for putting the stress on our father and has hated us ever since.”

“How did you know that he was your brother?” Arcsaber asked in confusion again, his head spinning from what he was hearing.

“We’re completely identical, in appearance at least, our minds are totally different to a certain extend. We must be on some kind of wave link though because we both chose the same type of Medabot when our father gave us our medals. The only thing that separated me and Zeri from Zeptha and his bot is that they are the most cold hearted fighters on the face of this planet. And until Ikki came along, the only real competition I had. Who knows how strong Zeptha and Zeris have gotten in the last three years” Rune explained.

“Yeah, well they better prepare themselves because I’m going to get Metaphysical on them when the tournament comes around!” Arcsaber declared.

“Exactly what I was thinking” Rune grinned.

Meanwhile

Across town a sudden explosion rocked a museum as smoke bellowed out of the newly formed hole in the roof that been made by a blast, and then seconds later a dark figure emerged from inside and started jumping from roof top to roof top with speed unlike any other. It was a Medabot, that much was clear as the moon shone down upon it.

It stopped to look at the prize in its hand. A Medal with a topaz colored gem in the center of it, it also appeared to be a Phoenix medal. The Medabot chuckled evilly, its crimson red optics glowing brightly.

“One down” he said in a deep evil voice. “Ten to go” and with that it jumped off the building and disappeared, not noticing the other Medabot landing on the building at the same time, this one was crimson red all over and had green optics, with T shaped missile launchers on its head and laser cannons on its arms.

The KBT pulled out small mobile phone punched a number in, and after a few the person on the other end picked up.

“What is it?” came Lonewolf’s deep voice.

“This is Dynast, I think you might want to know, but there’s a new player in town” Dynast told his Medafighter quietly.
