Cloning and Genetics
Great power and Terrible Consequences
Imagine a new life is brought into the world beautiful and glorious, yet tainted by the fact
that it is a clone not true life but a copy of another. Clones are genetic replicas of a dying or dead
person, but they are replacement’s not original. There is also Genetic engineering which, in this
writers and the opinion’s of many sicenensts and scholars, it is the manipulation of DNA, life
and nature. Genetic engineering can be used to create new species, to play god and mar his
design. Not to mention the fact that cloning is based on stem cells. Which are easiest to find
from fetal tissue. This needless to say is a huge moral issue and is a horrible act. The current
method is to extract stem cells from unborn fetuses. Cloning and genetic engineering are an
atrocity against nature, because mankind was not meant to manuplite and mutilate life.
God created the world as it should be, and by that all his creations are not to be tampered
with. Life and everything in it are balanced, and everything will work out as long as there is no
outside interference. Stem cells are believed to be the keys to this. We all start out as a lump of
stem cells. They are called the “Philosopher’s stones.” Of Genetics capable of turning into any
type of cell. Stem cells divide indefitanlly. The current method to recover stem cells are
controversial and highly debated. These methods involve using an unborn fetus and extracting
the stem cells form it. Or using newborns that have deformities. “What remains remarkable and
disturbing about the current debate is that it remains almost completely devoid of information
about alt. Sources of fetal tissue. The ends do not justify the means.
Clones are copies of another being exactly alike the original in appearance. “Maybe the
child knows it is a twin of dead brother or sister what kind of pressures will he or she feel?
Knowing they were made as a direct replacement for another? It is a human experiment doomed
to failure because the child will not be identical in every way.” (Reasons against cloning.) The
clone will LOOK like the person, sound, alike. But it is NOT the person it was meant to replace.
Everyone has a different personality and will never be exactly like another person. The same is
true for clones.
The theories coming from genetic engineering include: perfecting the human genome,
augmenting human abilities, and mixing and matching animal DNA like a modern day Dr.
Frankenstein basically playing god. The animals created from this are called transgenic animals.
remember all those SC. movies with animals that had several traits from other species, or part
human part animal people. Genetic endearing makes that reality. “Transgenic is one of those
words that used to show up in science fiction but is now part of everyday life. The term means
transplanted genes from one organicism to another.” (Ellen, Genetic Engineering.) But also think
about manipulating the DNA code can have military applications. “What would Hitler have done
with cloning technology if available in the 1940's there are powerful leaders in every generation
who will seek to abuse the technology for their own purpose’s” (reasons against cloning) This is
perhaps the biggest reason against genetic enigeering that it can and will be used as a weapon.
And unfortanally the possibilities or endless. This is not a gift from god but a machination of
man.
In the movie Jurassic park. The price for playing god becomes clear. In this movie that
talks about the concenqueces of man interfering with life we hear several very true phrases from
Dr. Malcolm. “God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys
god. Man creates dinosaurs.” “If there is one thing that the history of evolution has taught us,
it’s that life will not be contained. Life breaks free. It expands to new territories, it crashes
through barriers, painfully maybe even dangerously but huh, well life finds a way.” “This
scientific power...didn’t require any discipline to attain it....so you don’t take any responsibility for
it.” “Genetic power is the most awesome force the plants ever seen but you wield it like a kid
that’s found his dad’s gun.” “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they
could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” (Messages of Jurassic Park.) In the last quote he
makes the distinction of being able to do something, and if you should do something. Just
because we can manuplaite the genetic code doesn’t man we should.
My closing argument about genetics and cloning is this: “This we all know all things are
connected like the blood which unites one family...
Whatever befalls the earth, befalls the sons and daughters of the earth.
Man did not weave the web of life,
he is merely a strand in it,
whatever he does to the web,
he does to himself.” (Genetic engineering-paradise on earth or a descent into hell?)
This quote is saying that whatever man does will hurt him as well as the rest of the web.
Everything affects one another.
In conclusion I refer you to something I said earlier. “Cloning and genetic engineering
are an atrocity against nature. Because mankind was not meant to manipulate life.” “The ends do
not justify the means.” (Me.) The reasons that make this true are clear as day. I have given all of
them in the above paragraphs. And I have backed them up with fact after fact. I will oppose cloning no matter what.
Genetic engineering and cloning are crimes against nature. A final reason for this is that Genetic
manipulation could be used to create new bio weapons. My final word on this is simple. Cloning
is immoral, irrational and unnecessary, for humanity it can be used for good yes but chances are
it will be used to commit unthinkable crimes against humanity. The most heinous crime in fact.
In that we play god and dare to test and tempt the lord.

You forgot one important Detail.
If Chuck Norris was cloned and both Chuck Norris's used a roundhouse kick on the other, it would produce so much energy the universe would explode.
In all seriousness though, sounds like your letting personal beleifs work themselves into your paper.. which isn't exactly a good thing in most research papers, where as the goal is gennerally to gather information about a topic with unbiased eyes...
Personally though.. it's better off we don't have clones. I'ld end up cloneing myself just to make out with me.

Now unless it says otherwise, papers aren't supposed to reflect your personal opinion. Try and keep your personal views out of it, especially that last line of tempting God, I take no stand in this but when you throw God into it your crossing the lines between science and religion, and we all know how well those two get along B)
