Ok, the other day, I picked up a 1/144 scale Gundum Model of Mobile Dinn from Gundum Seed. And as Matt told me, these models require a fair bit of touch up work with pain, but, when I tried to detail it with paint, the paint didn't spread properly over the surface of the model, it was like the paint was too watery.

Yes I was using Watercolor paints because thats what I'm use to after using Warhammer Paints for so long. Is this the problem, is a chemical used on the plastics that make the waterpaints practically useless?

Try Gundam Markers, they don't smuge or anything, they cost a pretty penny, but it's worth it!

But as for a problem for the water colors on model kits, there is no problem, it's just water colors tend to move from the desiganted area.

Try enamal based paints, they can be a bit tricky to come by but they're usually not that expensive. I used to use them on my WH40K army and some of it turned out pretty well. Another trick is to rub the model parts with some wet rockpaper and then paint them. The paint will hold better then. Hope this helps

I too use enamel paints on my gundam models, but I also putty and primer them before using paints so that the parts fit together seamlessly. It takes a god aweful long time, but the results are well worth it.

If you're trying to do those very small detailed lines on the models that are like the width of a hair, I have been told that micron pens work very well. I stand by this as its worked for me too.

Good luck Riven B)

Thanks for the tips guys.

Although, as for the Gundam Markers, we don't get those over here unfortunately, as it is I'm surprise this model shop I went to even had Gundam models, but then again I forget that anime stuff is becoming much more mainstream these days ^_^
