Only the obvious, dont make it too complicated

Make it a tiered system with values created for specific spells or a restriction on how much it can be cast in a certain period, like a cooldown period of say either a few minutes, hours, a day? Also, you'd need to make up a composite list of all magical spells so you know what does what to whom and who can use what. You've got your work cut out for you. Best advice I can give is maybe follow something like FFVII. B)

*falls over* Go research it then, it has a pretty decent system. As for magic types, you have your typical "attack" "defence" "status altering" and "curative" magics, and "summons" would also fit into that category I suppose.

ok, lets see how this works out shall we. right now i only have summoners done up.

sommons are easy prey on their own. they depend solely on their "pets" for both defense and offence. However, the summoner is caple of small feats of magic on their on but nothing that would help them in battle with out their pets.

summons have a total of 100 mp (mana points)
a summoner can summon up to 4 stage 1 monters at a cost of 10mp each.
a stage 1 monster would be equal in power to a normal zoanoid I.E. a vamore.

For a stage 2 monster the summoner must "discard" 2 stage 1 monsters + 10mp.
a stage 2 monster would be a hyper-zoanoid level monster. (2 stage 2 monsters max)

for a stage 3 monster you would "discard" 2 stage 2 monster + 15mp
a stage 3 monster is a neo hyper-zoanoid to zoalord level monster.
-----------------------------------------

ok so 4 stage 1 monsters would be 40mp, 2 stage 2 monsters would be 60mp and 1 stage 3 monster would be 75mp.

100-40=60
100-60=40
100-75=25
-----------------------------------------
status effects

5mp to heal wounds

10mp to add one power of the same level to a different monster. I.E. giveing a power type zoanoid a vamore level laser. (one new power per monster)

5 mp to enhance an existing power.
-----------------------------------------
when a summon monster dies the summoner regains half of the total mp cost of that monster.

If your apparent yugioh style works, I'm all for it, just so long as it doesn't get too complicated and mixed up.

Teknoguyver - December 29, 2005 10:08 PM (GMT)
it shouldn't and what you mean by yugioh?

WarriorZoalord - December 29, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
in yugioh you gotta get rid of weaker monsters to summon stronger monsters.
