Title: Warriorguyver hacked

Mr Zektoll - October 6, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
These same guys tried to hack another message board I sometimes go to about a week or two ago but only managed to take out the general discusion area before they got stopped, seems they got a bit further here. Anyway, since there was a link to guyvers lair on the wg message board that means guyvers lair could be a potential target as well so all the admins should be on the lookout for trouble, and we should all make sure important info is backed up,especially that whole weird fantasy sequence with Riven in Mad guyvers that I posted recently.

Unless one of the admins here has a really easy password to break, we should be safe. As brute forcing an account open is pretty much the only way someone from outside can get in due to the security that the IF team has around the servers, in fact only the owner has direct access to them.

SHHHH!!! Don't say that, if any hackers read this they'll probably take it as a blatant challenge to hack the site!

Now that I think of it , I probably shouldnt have posted this in the first place because just about anything anyone might post here will be taken that way by these guys, I know how these sorts of guys think and that's how they'll take it, if they are in fact reading our forum which they probably aren't but it is possible that they have come here from the link. Also passwords arent always enough, back when I was the rpg mod on wg, sully made sure everyone had tough passwords by deactivating the account of anyone whose password was easy to guess, but it didnt save them in the end.

Anyway if any hackers read this, please don't hack our board, were a bunch of downtrodden hobos who live in card board boxes, shunned by society we feed on filth, we have no mittens and weve lost our kitten, you will get no glory from hacking us, only the shame that you hacked the site of someone who has no mittens...

EDIT: If any admin read this to be on the safe side I think this thread should be deleted or if anyone still wants to disscuss it, moved to a secure area of the board only members can see.

Mr. Z, it was just a guy who used the same software as WG.com used. There is a program hole in the purchased boards software. On this board the 'Script Kiddy' that Matt mentioned would need to hack our accounts directly. And that requires YEARS of randomly generated codes to get. Even so, Only ONE of us has the rights to delete or augment the board permanently in such a fashion as what happened on WG.com. For safeteys sake I won't say which Admin has such rights, but if someone hacked an account here they couldn't do a helluva lot of damage.

All we need to do is just keep our passwords odd and unguessable with strings of letters and numbers that only we know.

ChrisOfTheDead's SAFETEY TIP OF THE DAY...

While some say it's good to use the same pasword for alot of stuff so it's easy to remember, when using a Message Board, ALWAYS use a different password or code than other things such as your E-Mail or instant messanger service. I personally have a different password for every account, e-mail, and messanger I use.
