Title: Home alone

Lazarus - September 11, 2005 06:19 PM (GMT)
Hey all, how's it floating? Well, currently things are pretty shakey for me. My parents left today to drive my grandfather down to Pittsburg. He's scheduled to have a five hour long surgery tomorrow, to remove 15% of his liver and his gull bladder in hopes of removing his liver cancer. Now normally I would be worried, but in this situation, I'm very scared. My grandfather is an alcoholic and has already survived through colon cancer, they're saying that the excessive drinking is probably the cause of his liver cancer.

Well, whenever you go under the knife, they warn you not to eat and/or drink anything except clear liquids, and they especially warned him against drinking alcohol. Well, as far as I know, he has not stopped let alone even slowed down on his drinking. So, if his system doesn't flush before the surgery, he is almost guaranteed to die on the table from blood loss.

I've never really had a great relationship with my grandfather, but I'm still very scared, so I don't know if or what you believe in, but I would really appreciate if you would put him in your prayers. His name is David Heimann.

Well, all I can say is, my condolenses for the situation you're in there Laz, my best to the surgeons and to your grandfather, stubborn as he is. My hopes that it all turns out for the best bub.

Even if you two were not really close, I can understand why you worry about him, he's family. Family is important to everyone. I myself lost my grandmother to colon cancer, I hope your grandfather pulls through, I'll be praying for him.

Damn, your grandpa sounds like my step dad, I can't get him to stop either. He almost had a serious alcohaul related problem too (not cancer though fortunatly) but we got him to quit for awhile (with alot of effort)but then he started up again, not as bad as he used to though. Hope it all turns out ok for your grandpa.

On another note.. am I the only one who can imagine Lazarus doing the home alone face that McCully was famous for on the covers to the Home Alone movies?

Hmm... I vote no on the robbers ^^. But thank you all for the support, I should know either tonight, or tomorrow how the surgery went, so I'll update on how it all went.

God didn't have much to do with it, thank the doctors, nurses, and your grandpappy's desire to live bub.

:$ Well, yeah, I did know to thank the doctors and what not.. just kinda forgot to mention it here ^_^'.

Actually, I got a call from my mom today, she said that he's doing fine, but he had a little trouble breathing last night from all the narcotics they had him on, so they're pumping his blood full of oxygen to flush out the narcotics. And also, this morning my grandfathers older sister died. I didn't barely even know her, but it still makes ya think.
