Title: cyborg technology

Here's an article about how its now possible to hook up cybernetic limbs controlled directly by peoples brains. First the stuff with the zombie dogs and now this, we might be seeing some interesting things in the future.

Yeah this stuff is pretty interesting. There's a a few ideas other than this method were they simply put sensors orver the stump of amputed or injured limbs and the sensors pick up the nerve signals going through the remainder of the apendage and a computer moves the corresponding part of the artifical limb. It says in the article though they attached the arm nerves to muscles in his chest so I wonder how that works out as they're not the old remiander of the arm where those nerve signals would normally travel to.

Something else of interest was a method where they tried to restore soemones sight by setting up a camera system in a pair of glasses and feeding any imagy's they picked up into a computer system on a belt at the persons waist. After that the data was sent into the brain where tehy surgicly put in a a kind of pad that sat over the part of the brain that dealt with vision.
it was only pretty raw though, the most the person was able to see was one or two large shapes defined by the angle an placements of white spots, the total number of spots that made up the image the person was seeing ranged from about 15 to 25 soemthing and depended on how many nerves they got the pad in the person head to line up with and stimulate. it finished up by saying there was currently a study into a type of transmiter that partially penetrated that area of tissue in the brain and thus stimulated a lot more correspondong nerves.

Moving to science discussion.

Come on Mr. Z your thinking to small thats not like you what about Nano Machine technology. This tech can allow you the camoflage of your human form while concealing it's true power beneath the surface.

Actually I've read quite alot about nano machines. While I havent heard of anything too extragant actually being made I did recently here about a nanotech based cure for cancer that works pretty well in the animals its been tested on. Also someone else made some self replicating nano-cercuits. Nothing too special so far, but its getting there.

Sweet so maybe someday I can have cool abilities like those on anime like Project Arms.

Don't take this the wrong way Weltall but we are discussing factual possible cyborg type technology. Nanotechlogy like that is still just purely science fictionr ight now. Even right now when Mr Z mentions the nanotech based cure for cancer. The best they could possible manage is a very primitive (perhaps barely even close to being nano-sized) machines designed solely for one singular purpose and having to be pre-programmed then injected into the body. The most they could do right now would be to destroy certain cells and thats about it, probaly cancer cells in perspective to what Mr Z is saying and then they'd gradually be flushed out the body naturally after they went dormant or they're task was done.

But that is precisly my point. The info nanotech we all know of is what has been made avalible to us. For example at any given time we are always 10-20 years ahead of where we are supposed to be interms of technology. So all I was trying to say was there is a chance that the tech exists, and we civilians don't know about it.

Just think people.. in 20 years, I'll be pioneering the robotics/cybernetics feild.. bwa ha ha!
