Title: The Library
Description: My own RPG
drag-5 - January 30, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
I had started an RPG on my own site when I didn't realise how easy going all you guys are!
Now I know how relaxed this place is I have had an Idea.
I Found that the RPG that I started is becoming rather DEAD.
So I thought maybe I could start the same one here.
Obviously only if you guys are interested in the concept.
It is called the library and it is about this Interdimensional library where different characters from different universes can coincide.
So you can have guyver with Kamen rider or whatever.
here is the link to the current guise of the Library.
http://www.theguyver.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=74It would be re-started of course to allow for you guys to have a fair running.

So for this rpg you basically become a character from a book or something like that right? It's an interesting concept I would probably join this one.
But I have two questions
1. Is this another self insert rpg like battle cube and mad guyvers? These can be fun but I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea to have two of these sorts of rpg's running at the same time since it might cause some people to neglect one of them in favor of the other since some of the concepts behind it would be the same.
2. Do you get the skills of the character you merge with? Obviously you get the powersw of their bodies, but for example if you merged with a samurai or something like that would you get all his sword skills?

This is intended to be written about someone else. so while I used my own name in the story, it could just as well have been anyone else.
also the books contain information, and the information is passed on.
Basically if the book contains just a physical description then that is all you get. alternatively if the book goes into great detail explaining technique etc. then you get that also.
The possibilities are endless. Within reason of course. if you are using a character you must use their weaknesses as well.
One thing i'd like to point out though. characters can be altered slightly to level them out so as not to have an unfair advantage. for example, the undertaker would normally be as strong as one man but if he were a fictional undertaker then we take his fictional powers into account. he would be able to perhaps take peoples souls if he beats them in a fight.

Ok I read through the rpg and I think I get whats going on better now. I thought you would just get almagalmed with a character from a certain universe but from what I gather in this rpg you could make your own original zoalords and guyvers, etc as long as their based along the rules set up by the universes they come from right? Also would we be able to make a character that mixes elements from two different universes? For example bloodstorm had a guyver pokemon character awhile, back would something like that be able to exist in this rpg?

well if you look at my example then yes. the guyver came out of the book and tried to merge with a book about dragons. the result? drag-5 or dragon guyver.
Also yes you could make your own character or use a pre existing one. like dekared is a sentai hero from a show called dekaranger. he just is the next generation of it (almost like ben reilly to spiderman)

Hmmm, sounds interesting. Can I by any chance be a character from a Japanese book called Parasite Eve????
And also, when taking on the traits of the character do you become that character or just obtain the powers and such?
Mr Zektoll - January 31, 2005 02:42 AM (GMT)
Ok I think I came up with a pretty good idea for my character.
One more question , how often would we be able to travel between the universes? Would this be something we would be able to do regularly or would it only be something that happens infrequently?
drag-5 - January 31, 2005 08:50 AM (GMT)
you could be a character from parasite eve. i am not familiar with it and maybe other people arent so you would have to provide basic data as to capabilities and important traits etc. it all depends on what type of character it is. if the caracter is defined by personality then you would probably have to become them. if the character was defined by an attachment like guyver then you could make up your own character.
It is perhaps possible to travel between universes if it serves the story line. generally it would take place in the hub universe where the library originates from.

Are the characters were using all originating from the hub universe, can we bring characters out of one of the other universes into the hub universe? Here's the idea for my character.
My idea was for a character from the universe of the manga/anime Keroro Gunso (the english version of this is Seargent Frog, not entirely an acurate translation by the way) The character I had an idea for is Keronese, which is the race of frog aliens from the Keroro Gunso universe. Anyway he merges with a book about paper magic (the type of magic used by Yomiko in read or die) and volume 3 of Alien 9. After doing so he gets paper magic and a sunflower symbiote.
Anyway I already had some ideas for my characters background and stuff. I could make a simialer character by having a human find one of the keroro Gunso books becoming a keron but then he would be different from the character I had already thought up. So what I'm wondering is if characters from the other universes can come out of the books into the library.
Here's some basic data about the Keronese, the sunflower symbiotes and paper magic.
The Keronese: The keronese are frog like aliens, each about 3-4 feet tall. Their tech level is very high, among the standard equipment is what is known as a keron ball which is a good example of keron technology.
The keron ball can create any object in its datbase from the molecules of whatever happens to be lying around. It also can shoot bolts of lightning as well as a heat ray. The Keron Ball also possesses something like a tractor beam, its bit different though, for example it can grab on to a section of an object and completely cut it off. The keron ball can also teleport objects and levitate them. Lastly it can send communication signals.
Keron physical stats: I'm not entirely sure how strong they are, but they are stronger then humans. I'll send you a couple pics of examples of how strong they are and you can decide on the bench marks based on that. Some kerons can also fire energy based attacks. Also when it gets really humid their streingth triples.
Sun Flower Symbiote: In the alien 9 universe there are a number of alien symbiote races that seem to have formed some sort of rivalry with each other vieing for the right to merge with the human race. These include the drill clan, yellow leaf clan and the sunflower clan. The sunflower alien symbiotes camp onto the head of the person they are merged with and can defend them with weapons such as monowire whips, and bio shields that resemble sunflower leafs. Unlike the guyver armor the sunflower symbiotes are sentient and can communicate with their hosts.
Paper magic: A paper user can manipulate any paper they touch in lots of strange ways. The papers molecular property can become as tough as diamond or elastic depending on what the paper user is trying to do. Paper users can also form the paper into things such as creatures that are made completely out of paper that can be controlled mentally, or weapons like swords and bows. Paper users are usually big bibliophiles although there are exceptions.
If you want more detailed info about any of this I'll pm it to you.

Yup thats fine. It's completely up to you. I wil set up a data file for the characters. If you wanna send me the pics or even a link to a website i will come up with some statistics. or if you want to suggest some statistics that would probably be easier, i can then verify them.
Mr Zektoll - February 4, 2005 02:10 AM (GMT)
Ok in that case ill make my opening post when I get back. I just wanted to check about that first.
