Title: All a bit overwhelming!
drag-5 - January 15, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
Hi guys, i just had a look in the main RPG section.
OMG  this is all very overwhelming. i mean how much stuff do we actually need to know? maybe im just being a bit silly and i actually don't need to know anything except the story i want to join? and maybe the datafiles for the characters? is there a beginners guide i have missed maybe?

errm do i need to read all the stories here.... or just the one i want to join?
when i make a character, am i allowed only one or can i make as many as i like?
i read the rules but it still isn't 100% clear.
sorry!
thanks :)

You can join all of them if you wish but the most active at the moment is Mad Guyver. Gathering the Reckoning and Baldur's Gate are at an on one moment and then off the next, as it with most of the others.
Yeah you should read what each RPG is about before you join but Mad Guyvers is technically the easiest as the whole main basis of the RPG is what we (refering to the members of the board) would do if we were given standard Guyver units, so you're playing youself more or les.

Well, Welcome to the rpg section of ... stuff..
Let me answer some of your questions in the traditional admin format.. which is to say.. However I want.
You only need to read the storys your interested in playing.. but your encouraged to read others during the off periods when not much is happening... as each story has it's own brand of enjoyment.
All you really need to play is a good character, with a datafile explaining the extent of their powers.. It's always fun reading about other characters (atleast I think so anyway)
In most rpgs, your free to use as many characters as you like, although some rpgs do have a limit. And while a particular rpg might not have a limit, it's wise to keep yourself to a number of characters you feel confident with that you can support.
Some rpgs will also have thier own rulse on what can or can't happen.. for example, Mad Guyvers.. you can't upgrade your guyver if you just happen to want to upgrade it... Make sure to check with the person running the rpg (if you can't figure it out then ask an Admin to help.. We won't bite if you really need the help) if any special rules apply.
Other than that.. Make sure you have fun.. That's what the main point is.. to enjoy yourself in an environment that you help shape, sorrounded by likeminded peers.

Yeah right now mad guyvers is the only active one, all the others seem to be trapped in limbo right now. From what I understand kaiser is planning to do something in the gathering which is why that is haulted right now.

ummm, i think i started a biginners guide way back when but there wasn't much need for it at the time so i stoped. however if the members of the board wanted to 'm show we could write something up.
riven and blood have pretty much sumed everything up. we got a little ahead of our selves these past few months so have uite a few RPGS running on the board right now.
this is really a good site and new members a.k.a new blood a.k.a hazeing targets are always welcome. :P

okay I started to read mad guyvers, but that is gonna taike me three days solid to get up to the point you guys are at!! are there any others starting soon? or maybe if i could get an overview of what has happened and maybe i could join in discreetly?
I have never done ANY roleplay before so i am really clueless! :invert:

Well Drag-5,I'd advise you to just read the last 5 pages of Mad Guyvers if it'd make things easier. The first 8 pages are mainly setting us all up for whats happening now. If it'd help, either pm one of us or add us to msn if you can. That way we can help you with any problems you have.

Same for me, before I joined up here way back during Time Gaurd and Chronos, I had no idea how to rpg at all either.
I think that maybe except a few a lot of the people who rpg here couldn't rpg very well themselves either till they joined up

Well here's the deal with mad guyvers, right now most of the guyvers are on board 3 ships that are under attack by both the various militarys of the world and a bunch of zoanoids. But you wouldn't be involved with that yet, if you want to start just have your character wake up and somehow discover that he's gotten guyver armor.
As for rpg playing I did do some rpg's before the guyver rpg's....it's just that all of them inexplicably self destructed....And no I wasn't the one who pressed the button (hides self destruct button behind his back)
