WOW
This game is alot more than I ever expected it to be after Sons of Liberty. The combat system is a bit clunky due to inability to strafe in or out of first person mocde. Still, the stamina system is amazingly innovative. I've never really played a console game where character upkeep affects so much. That, and in my first radio transmission Snake(Voiced by our favorite Guyver, David Hayter) and the Para-Medic have a twenty minute conversation about Godzilla!
The weapons in this game have pretty damn accurate physics. Snake first real gun is a 45. similar to the one I own and the recoil action is exactly the same inscreen. It can also be used to your advantage when going up against those damned hoverturret enemies.
Ingesting certain food or animals can actually decrease health and stamina, and useing the new 'cure' system is simply amazing. Snake actually does the self recovery on screen. When you set up repair for a gunshot wound, he actually uses his combat knife to take the bullet out right on screen in full view. Targeting is humanly accurate which makes for great fun as you have to constantly adjust for unexpected shaking or muscle jerks.
The voice acting is top notch(and I expect no less from Mr. hayter). The animations are flawlessly transitioned from cutscene to gameplay. All in all, this gets Xenons stamp of approval. And for the record, I dont like these kinds of games. So, they did something very right to make me like it this much.
