MedaDestiny
Chapter 4: High School Blues!
It was a quiet Sunday afternoon, and Arcsaber was walking around the Daniels mansion almost bored as he tried to find Rune, who had already disappeared off somewhere before he had woken up, leaving Arcsaber with nothing to do, having spent a good half hour or so arm wrestling Ironclaw who had lost every single time because the servos in his arm weren’t up able to match Arcsaber’s own, so he had quickly grown tired of that and had gone off in search of his Medafighter.
He walked into the lounge room and found Kelly and Trey lounging about watching tv, some action movie that only caught his interest due to a car suddenly exploding as ran up the back of a truck. He was almost tempted to sit down an watch it, but he wanted to robattle someone more.
“Hey where’s Rune?” he asked sounding rather bored.
“He’s in the Bug Room at the back of the house, through the kitchen, take a left down the hall, when you get to the end of that hang a right and go straight until you come to a T section and go left, you’ll see a red door with Bug Room written on it, even you cant miss it” Kelly said distractedly. “I think he’s meditating or something, I did see him carrying that RHB Medabot with him though, so he’s probably taking it apart and making sure it was put together properly.
Arcsaber growled loudly at the mention of the Rhino Beetle, at the mere mention of it he would become moody and easily dangerous like he had since the end of the City Wide Robattle Tournament. They could all see that he was quiet jealous by the Medabot, despite Rune never implying one way or the other what he was going to do with it, or if he was going to buy a new medal or not. Kelly and Trey didn’t think he would but they weren’t about to tell Arcsaber that as they were having too much fun tormenting him.
Arcsaber suddenly ran off in a huff to find Rune.
“That wasn’t very nice Kelly” Trey said calmly and stuffed a hand full of potato chips in his mouth.
“Oh? And you and Rune putting Ironclaw’s medal in that RHB type and making Arcsaber think Rune had replaced him, wasn’t mean?” Kelly asked dryly, though inwardly she was laughing hysterically as she remembered Arcsaber’s ballistic reaction.
“Yeah, that was pretty mean I suppose” Trey said with a wicked grin.
Arcsaber followed Kelly directions to the letter and finally came to the ‘back’ of the house and came to a stop in front of the red door that had Bug Room written across it in big bold letters. He opened it and quickly walked it and for second he almost thought he had stepped into another world. The room was filled with plant life almost like a green house, but they’re were multiple shelves on the wall and three long table in the middle of the obviously large room that almost had plants on it, but on both the shelves were glass tanks, that when he looked closer Arcsaber could see contained all sorts of bugs. He continued down one of the rows and finally came to what was probably the largest tank in the whole room, and it was three large bugs that Arcsaber instantly didn’t like the look of.
“Anthina thorocica” Arcsaber almost jumped out of his body and spun around to see Rune standing behind him, who was just smiling calmly. “It’s a carnivore, and eats most live food, like mice, frogs, other beetles and the such. This thing is a fearsome looking creature isn’t it? I don’t know why I caught one of these, but for some reason I felt the need to have it in my collection, but I can’t pick the blasted thing up, unless I wear thick gloves, even then its teeth can almost get through the material to my skin. They’re a dangerous bug, being carnivores, though the worst they can do to a human is a few strong and painful bites before they get squashed, but I’m sure even a dog or a cat could be killed by one of these if they don’t shake them off quickly enough. I almost had the top of my finger taken off by one of these things when I first got it, thought I’d be smart and show that I wasn’t afraid to hold it, well needless to say these things get fee from either a long stick or the food is just dropped in.”
“Why do you have something like this if its so dangerous?” Arcsaber asked.
“Well, I think it was because maybe I’ve studied, collected and bred all these other beetles that are strictly herbivores so I wanted to study a beetle that was the exact opposite. I tell you, these things are mean, and good hunters to, I put a mouse in there once and it took these three all of a minute to kill it, granted they started fight for it and ended up tearing it in three pieces. It was quiet, disgusting” Rune said with a slight frown, Arcsaber however just stared at him, which he quickly noticed. “What?”
“You are a strange, strange human” Arcsaber told him, then he looked around again at all the plants and tanks, noticing the humidity was quiet high in the room. “What's with the bugs though and why does it feel like an Amazon jungle in here?” he asked.
“Well, the humidity is so high in here because that’s how I need it. You see, this is the general, natural environment of the beetles I collect, this increases their life span by probably an extra year at the most. As for all the bugs? Well I started collecting them when our parents took, Kelly, Trey, Cain and myself to Japan and I stumbled into a pet shop that sells all types of Hercules and Stag Beetles and I saw this one that was huge, eight inches long, and instantly I was fascinated with them and I begged my dad to buy it for me and finally he caved in. Do you know, kids in Japan go out and catch these things – if they can’t afford to buy it – and they pit they’re beetles against each other in mock Sumo battles?” Rune said.
“Really?” Arcsaber replied.
“Yeah, though its not as popular as it use to be before Medabots were built, now kids can go out and buy beetle type Medabots and pit them against one another I suppose” Rune said with an amused smile. “I on the other hand just prefer to collect and study them, I have no intention of ever putting my bugs in battle, unless its those monsters in there” he nodded towards the tank with the three bugs in it.”
“Right” Arcsaber said slowly before adding. “You are a freak.” He then he walked away from Rune, turning to look at some other tanks, which was when he saw the RHB Medabot sitting on a work bench that had broken tanks stacked on it waiting to be repaired. He growled upon seeing the Rhino Beetle Medabot and spun back to face Rune. “I knew it, your going to replace me with that thing!!”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Rune asked in confusion. “I was making sure it was put together properly and besides I have no intention of replacing you so drop the jealousy crap will you? It was funny at first, now its just annoying.”
Arcsaber stopped, a little stunned and at a loss for what to say next, he couldn’t find any thing to accuse Rune of, nothing he could be sure of without sounding like a moron at least. So he sourly shut his mouth and crossed his arms in frustration.
“There was something I wanted to talk to you about, but it can wait until after I’ve got all the information. I just want to relax before school tomorrow” Rune said as he went to a deck chair he had brought into the room and sat down on it, pulling out a magazine.
* * *
That night Rune sat on the window seal, staring out through the glass at the stormy night beyond it, rain hammering the homes and streets relentlessly as lighting lashed out in the distance and lit the sky up, the thunder booming out like loud bombs seconds later. He stared at the night with a hard gaze, like he had been for the last hour and a half. He had been unable to sleep, feeling restless for a reason he couldn’t grasp and so after grabbing a snack from the kitchen he sat down at the window seal and hadn’t moved an inch since.
“Huh?” came a sleepy tone and Rune turned to see Arcsaber waking up from his spot next to the bed. “Rune, what are you still doing up?”
“I can’t sleep” he said emotionlessly.
Arcsaber looked at him calmly. “What's wrong?”
Riven just looked back out at the window and breathed deeply. “I wish I knew Arc, I just have this really bad feeling that something’s going to happen.”
* * *
After much effort, Rune had finally gotten to sleep, but when he awoke that morning along with his brothers and sister, he was shocked to see that the heavy rain fall from the night before had flooded the streets slightly and it was still raining, though it was no longer thundering or lightning like it had been the night before. However, though the streets were flooded, it wasn’t flooded enough for the schools to be cancelled, much to Rune and his siblings dismay.
“This sucks” Trey grumbled as he ate breakfast.
“Tell me about it” Rune agreed, chewing sourly on his cereal.
“The streets are flooded for crying out loud!” Kelly growled quietly.
“I don’t know what you three are so mad about” Cain said in confusion.
All three of them turned and looked at him in disgust.
“Only you would be happy that school wasn’t cancelled!!” all three of them snarled at him like angry animals, causing him to shrink back in his chair in fear.
“Man, they are scary” Arcsaber said to Ironclaw.
After the four of them had all changed into their school uniforms, consisting of long sleeve shirts and pants, Rune wearing a black overcoat to keep the rain from soaking him, while Trey, Kelly and Cain simply opted for umbrellas. However it was as they were getting ready to leave that trouble erupted.
“There’s no way I’m ejecting my medal!!” Arcsaber yelled.
“We can’t bring Medabots to school, you have to eject your medal so I can call you incase I have a robattle after school” Rune told him, trying to keep his calm. “If you don’t eject your medal you can’t robattle.”
“No!” Arcsaber snapped.
“Fine, I’ll stop by Zero’s, pick up a new medal and use my spare Medabot if that's what you want” Rune shrugged and turned to leave.
“You wouldn’t!!” the Medabot demanded.
“I would Arcsaber, I would” his Medafighter promised.
Arcsaber growled heatedly staring at his Medafighter, trying to figure out if Rune was just tying to trick him or really would do that. Finally he decided that he couldn’t take that chance and with a great deal of reluctance, he ejected his medal and smiling, Rune picked it up and slipped it into his medawatch.
“I knew that would work” Rune smirked, then he touched a button on the side of the watch.
“Arcsaber won’t be happy about that” Trey said as he watched his brother.
“Yeah, well if I didn’t mute him he’d just cause a scene in class or something” Rune shrugged.
* * *
The whole way to the school Rune stared out the limo window at the rain with an anxious look, he still had the same feeling from the night before and it only seemed to become stronger and he didn’t like it. The feeling that something was going to happen made him uneasy and very edgy, though he realized since that night three years ago, rain and storms had a strange affect on him, once he use to enjoy storms, now they made him gloomy, bringing back old memories and opening old wounds.
“Everything ok?” Kelly asked suddenly.
Rune didn’t look away from the window. “Yeah I guess so. Just feeling a little paranoid is all.”
Minutes later they pulled up in front of the school and the four of them poured out of the limo one after another and quickly heading inside as not to get to soaked by the rain. When they got inside though, they found that the halls were empty and they checked their watches thinking they were late, but it was still half an hour before anyone had to go to class. Rune looked around with narrowed eyes, something was wrong.
“What's going on, where is everyone?” Trey said a bit loudly.
“Shhhh” Rune hissed and slowly made his way to a class room and peered in, there was no one in there either, and he repeated this process with four more class rooms and each of them was empty too. He frowned in puzzlement, and turned away from the door to the class room and put his hands on his hips trying to figure out what was going on. “School did start back today didn’t it?” he asked the others, when suddenly something grabbed him from behind and yanked him in to the class room. “Arrgghh!”
“Shut up!” came a harsh whisper and Rune looked up to see Zeptha, with Lisa and Griffon standing next to him, the others running in seconds later.
“Zeptha!? What the fuck do you think you’re doing?!” Rune demanded.
“I said shut up” Zeptha hissed and quickly went to door of the class room and closed it, peering through the small window in it and out into the hall, looking back and forth rather nervously, before he finally turned back to Rune and the others. “We’ve got trouble.”
“What? What are you talking about?” Rune asked, pulling himself into a sitting position.
“The Rubber Robo Gang” Zeptha said darkly. “They’ve taken over the school. They’ve got just about everyone in the assembly hall, a few escaped in the commotion those rubber wearing freaks caused but you know how most of the people are at this school, rather save their own necks then get help.”
Rune looked at his with a hard look, his hands clenched tightly and his body literally shaking with rage as he heard the name of the group that stole Zeri’s medal from him. “Did any of them have a Medabot with them called Juggernaut?” he asked quietly, trying to keep some part of him calm.
“Yeah, why?” Lisa asked, though Griffon and Zeptha exchanged brief a glance as Rune suddenly stood up, his hair blocking his face.
“No Rune!” Kelly said instantly and suddenly went to stop him, grabbing his arm. “You’re not going to fight them!”
Without warning, Rune pry his sisters hand from his arm and shoved her out of the way and into Trey, both of them fall over from the force, and he continued on towards the door, before Griffon suddenly got in front of him and landed a well placed punched to Rune’s face, knocking him backwards.
“Pull yourself together goddamn it!!” Griffon snapped.
“I’m going to get Zeri’s medal back and none of you are going to stop me!” Rune snarled and looked ready to fight them. “You can either help me, or you can stay here and do nothing, either way I’m going to go out there and scrap those bastards, and I will knock each and everyone of you out to do it, don’t think I won’t.”
With that Rune walked back towards the door, this time Griffon didn’t stop him, knowing he wasn’t going to be able to stop him, so instead he followed him.
“I’m going to” Zeptha said emotionlessly. “I’m not going to let those two have all the fun.”
Kelly, Trey, Cain and Lisa watched as the three left, looking back and forth at one another, their expressions saying all that needed to be said.
“Someone needs to keep those three out of trouble, so it may as well be us” Trey sighed, then he turned around and saw that Cain looked like he was ready to come with them. “No way squirt, you’re staying here.”
“No way” Cain said stubbornly.
“You’ll just get in the way Cain, you don’t have a Medabot so you can’t help us, you’ll do more good by staying here and barricading the door” Kelly told him.
“Stop treating me like a little kid! I’m thirteen years old for crying out loud, I can……..” Cain was cut short as Trey walked over and punched him in the stomach, the young boy doubling over in pain and then falling to the ground unconscious. Kelly looked at Trey sharply.
“We don’t have time for this Kelly, lets go” he said calmly.
* * *
Rune, Zeptha and Griffon all ran down the hallway of the first floor, heading towards the assembly hall when they saw two Rubber Robo’s coming down the stairs that went up to the second room, neither of them spotting the three kids until it was too late. Zeptha and Rune lunged through the air and attacked the two men with flying spin kicks and knocked them to the ground instantly. Zeptha landed in a crouch next to the one he knocked down and punched him square in the face, knocking him out, while Rune landed on top of the one he attacked and grabbed him around the throat and stared straight into his eyes menacingly.
“Tell me where the ones are that control Juggernaut rubber boy, before I rip your face off” he snarled angrily.
“Th…. They…. Set up a HQ….. on the eight floor!” the Robo gasped, but even then Rune continued to squeeze the man’s throat, his eyes ablaze with rage and homicidal tendencies.
“Rune” Zeptha said as he watched his brother. “RUNE!! Stop it! I may hate you but you’re not a murder now lets go!” Zeptha snapped, shoving his brother hard to get him off the criminal, whom he quickly knocked out so Rune wasn’t distracted.
“Fine” Rune breathed, calming himself.
Just as the three of them ran up the stairs, Trey, Kelly and Lisa got to the scene, breathing hard as they tried to catch their breath.
“I hate running” Trey groaned and quickly chased after his brothers with the other two close behind him.
Rune and the others all ran without stopping through the second and third level with no problems, all of them silently preparing themselves for what was ahead of them, knowing that there was going to be some tough battling ahead of them. All of them were edgy and cautious as they ran up the stairs to the fourth level, constantly looking around for any Robo’s that might try and stop them. But it was when they were half way through the fourth level, that a sudden explosion in front of them, brought them all to a skidding halt.
“And where do you think you lot are going?” came a deep voice from within the smoke, a shadow appearing as the smoke started to dissipate more and more, until they saw a very tall Rubber Robo, that Rune instantly recognized.
“I knew it had to be you! Where are your buddies?!” Rune growled.
The Rubber Robo looked at him closely for a few seconds then laughed. “Well if it isn’t the little Medafighter we beat three years ago. Come back for more have you, well I hope you’ve got something better then that piece of junk Medabot you used last time.”
Rune growled and went to charge at him, but Griffon stopped him, Rune looked back at him and his friend shook his head. “Me and Trey will take care of this guy, you four keep going, get Zeri’s medal back” Griffon told him.
“You sure?” Rune asked.
“Yes, now get going” Trey told him.
Rune nodded silently and then he charged forth, with the others behind him, charging past the Rubber Robo before he had a chance to register what was happening, but he didn’t try to chase after them, he knew that his fight was with the two in front of him.
“Transport Medabot!” all three of them yelled.
Ironclaw and Cyberdog appeared in front of Trey and Griffon with the light exploding off the Medabots, while in front of their opponent, his own Medabot appeared.
Maveric
Medafighter: Squidhead
KLN -111214-5
King Loin Type
Specialty: Shooting
Other Attacks: Smashing
Medal: Kuwagata
“Whoa, a Mk5 King Lion type” Trey said in awe and a little fear. “I’d only heard stories about these Medabots, they’re suppose to be as powerful as five Mk3 DVL medabots. This may have been a mistake, its not too late to back out you know.”
Griffon smiled faintly. “No way.”
“Good, then lets smash him apart” Trey smiled.
“You two are going to regret the day you challenged me, Squidhead to a robattle!” their opponent announced, but then Trey and Griffon suddenly started laughing uncontrollably. “What’s so funny! Why do people always laugh when I announce my name!?” Squidhead demanded angrily.
“Squidhead? What kind of name is that for a villain?!” Trey laughed.
“Might have something to do with his intelligence” Griffon added and both of the laughed harder.
“That's it, go Maveric!!” Squidhead ordered, slipping his Medabot’s medal into it.
Trey and Griffon suddenly stopped laughing as the KLN Medabot powered up and put their own Medabot medals into place and prepared for battle. As Maveric lunged forward driving its large fist at the two medabots, Ironclaw and Cyberdog jumped out of the way as the big Medabot caused punched a large hole in the floor that went through to the hallway of the third floor. As the two landed, Maveric spun around and fired blast after blast from its quad cannons on each hand, forcing Ironclaw and Cyberdog to focus on evading.
“Ironclaw, use your Tri Cannon on it!” Trey ordered.
As he glided out of the way, Ironclaw fired beams of blue energy from his Tri Cannon, but Maveric was already moving, dodging the blast and coming straight after Ironclaw with its fist drawn back. Then out of no where Cyberdog landed a kick to the side of Maveric’s head and knocking it to the side while Ironclaw moved out of the way.
“Nice job Cyberdog, now lay into it with a barrage of laser fire!” Griffon ordered.
“You too Ironclaw!” Trey mimicked.
Ironclaw and Cyberdog braced themselves and started firing laser blasts at the KLN Medabot, a cloud of smoke building up around it as the two continued, before Maveric suddenly lunged out the cloud of smoke and punched Ironclaw out of the way with one hand while it grabbed Cyberdog with the other and lifted it up off the ground and then slammed it back into the ground.
“Cyberdog!” Griffon cried.
“Ironclaw, initiate Prominence power up!” Trey ordered. “Griffon, you’re going to have to have Cyberdog keep him busy while Ironclaw powers up, if we’re lucky we can finish this with the Prominence attack.”
“Good thinking” Griffon nodded. “Ok, Cyberdog, keep it busy until I tell you to move!”
Cyberdog nodded and latched onto Maveric’s arm and started laying into him with multiple punches, raining them down like a violent storm while Ironclaw charged up, energy crackling around his large horn. Maveric turned this way and that trying to shake the DOG type off, but to no avail.
“Power up complete” chirped Trey’s watch.
Trey smiled confidently. “Prepare yourself for the flames of justice! The Prominence!!”
“Cyberdog move!!” Griffon shouted.
Cyberdog jumped out of the way as Ironclaw fired the blast of fire from its horn, which raced through the air at Maveric and engulfed it in super hot fire.
“Yeah! We got it!!” Trey yelled triumphantly.
“Don’t be too quick to celebrate” Squidhead said calmly.
“Huh?” Trey turned and watched as the Prominence dissipated and revealed Maveric, a little singed, but otherwise unarmed. Maveric stood up from its kneeling position, its visor optic glowing bright red as it looked straight at them and aimed its laser cannon. Trey groaned and replied with. “Oh shit.”
* * *
Rune and the others emerged on the sixth floor, all of them looking a little exhausted from all the running, and running up stairs wasn’t helping either. Already waiting for them though on the sixth floor was the woman of the group of Robo’s that had stolen Zeri’s medal and Rune knew he was getting closer to his primary goal. Rune growled and skidded to a halt with Zeptha and Lisa on one side and Kelly on the other, him and his brother instantly going for their medawatches to call Arcsaber and Zeris but Kelly grabbed Rune’s arm and he turned to look at her.
“Nope, this isn’t your battle” she said with a calmly smile. “Me and Lisa will take care of her, you and Zeptha go on and face Juggernaut and its Medafighter, this way Arcsaber and Zeris will be at top fighting condition.”
“You sure about this Kelly? You and Lisa have never really gotten along before, and this battle will require the two of you to work as a team” he pointed out.
“We’ll be fine, now get going, I want to see Zeri’s medal in your hands when you get back here, you got that?” Kelly told him.
Rune turned to the woman. “You should be lucky its not me you’re fighting bitch, I’ll see yah next time, if Kelly leaves any of you left alive.” And with that, him and Zeptha quickly rushed past the woman, who let them go without a second thought and faced Kelly and Lisa with an arrogant gaze.
“You little girls have no idea who you’re messing with” the woman said. “I am Fingirl, and you’ll lose your medals to me, as well as your lives! Go Arcangel!!”
Kelly and Lisa watched a violet beam shot out of Fingirl’s watch and then exploded in the sphere of energy as the Medabot appeared.
Arcangle
Medafighter: Fingirl
ANG-792316F
Angel Type
Specialty: Flamethrowers
Other Attacks: Redemption Fire
Medal: Bear
It looked nothing like your classic angel though, it actually looked more like a scantily clad succubus then anything else, except it was wearing all white and had a cross symbol on its chest while in its hand it held a staff that had an opened end, and the Medabot also hovered off the ground like a PHX Medabot. Kelly and Lisa had never seen a Medabot like this one before, in fact they had never seen anything like it in any Medabot catalogue before either, but then again, this was the Rubber Robo Gang, they probably knew people that could build custom medabots for them.
“Transport Medabots!!” the two girls cried out and transported their own medabots and loaded them up with their medals.
“Fatalis, get in close and rip it apart!” Lisa commanded
“Destiny cover Fatalis!” Kelly ordered.
Destiny ran to the side and started firing blasts from her laser cannons while Fatalis charged forth, jumping from the floor to the wall and then rebounding off it with the speed and grace of a CAT type Medabot. Arcangel spun its staff around and deflected all the blasts and then at the last moment swung the staff around to smack Fatalis in the side, before flying backwards slowly and rising into the air. The Medabot pointed her staff at the Destiny and suddenly a beam of fire blasted out of it and raced towards Destiny.
“No, get out of there!!” Kelly yelled.
Destiny only had time to brace herself though before the beam of fire smashed into her and sent her flying backwards down the hall with her chest glowing white hot as the metal started to melt from the attack.
“Warning, 95% damage to torso, system overheating, function cease imminent” Kelly’s watch warned as she ran to her fallen Medabot.
“Fatalis, Alpha pattern!” Lisa suddenly ordered.
As Arcangel turned to attack Fatalis, the STG type was already moving, lunging forward and then jumping to the side, landing against the wall before rebounding off it and somersaulting over the ANG Medabot and landing behind it before thrusting her Flexor Claws forward, but instead of her claws sinking through the armor, the claws shattered, much to Lisa’s surprise.
Fingirl laughed arrogantly. “Arcangel’s armor is reinforced, your puny attacks won’t make a dent against her, so you can try all you want, but it won’t make a spit of difference in the end. Arcangel showed them how a real Medabot fights!”
Arcangel spun around with her staff sweeping through the air and caught Fatalis in the side, smacking her into the wall with shocking force, then calmly placed the end of her staff at Fatalis’s head and Lisa’s eyes went wide with horror as she realized what was about to happen.
“Fatalis! NO!!” she screamed.
“Destroy it!!” Fingirl commanded.
But then a laser blast smashed into the staff and sent the flamethrower flying from Arcangel’s hand as it turned to see Kelly holding Destiny up in a sitting position with her arms aimed straight forward and smoke rising up out of the cannon, and her chest sparking from the damage it had taken.
“Isn’t that thing done yet?” Fingirl asked irritably.
“It isn’t over till the fat lady sings bitch” Kelly hissed.
* * *
Finally Rune and Zeptha emerged on the eight floor, where they were confronted by a small army of Noctobats which floated around in the sky and two mk3 DVL types all massed spread around the very man that Rune had dreamt about ripping apart with his bare hands for the last three years. He growled dangerously and the only thing that stopped him from charging head first into the mass of medabots was knowing that they’d rip him apart in seconds, and Zeptha had grabbed him by the upper arm and held him back.
“Give me back my medal!!” Rune shouted at him, struggling only a little with Zeptha.
“Your medal?” the man asked, looking at him suspiciously, then his lips curled into a cruel smile as he obviously realized who he was looking at. “Oh, the Medafighter we beat three years ago? You don’t look like the little weakling we beat then, you’ve grown and got stronger to it appears” he said, as Riven pulled off his overcoat and threw it to the ground, his taut muscles almost seeming to pulse with rage, then the man smirked. “You even managed to clone yourself, how amusing.”
“Don’t push it buddy, I don’t have anything against you yet” Zeptha said coldly.
“Are you going to give me back my medal or am I going to have to beat you into a bloody pulp you rubber wearing freak!” Rune demanded.
“I guess you didn’t learn your lesson three years ago did you?” the man said with tone that sent shivers up the two brothers spines. “Fine, then I, Crabguts will show you a new level of suffering! Get them!”
“TRANSPORT MEDABOTS!!” Zeptha and Rune yelled as a wave of Medabots rushed towards them.
Seconds later Arcsaber and Zeris appeared in front of their Medafighters and their medals were slipped into their backs. Their optics came to life and the first thing they saw were the Noctobats and DVL Mk3’s charging towards them like a wave of terror. On impulse Arcsaber let loose a hail storm of laser blasts at the Noctobats, while Zeris charged the DVL Mk3’s. As one drove its fist forward, Zeris raised his hand and caught it, then had to the same when it attacked with its other hand, and was soon being pushed backwards slowly by the DVL, until a laser shot whizzed past Zeris’s head and got the DVL straight between the eyes, snapping its head backwards while Zeris took advantage of it and spun the Medabot around and ripped open the medal chamber and smashed the medal to pieces.
Within minutes and much to Crabguts surprise, Arcsaber and Zeris stood upon a field of victory, with the bodies of all the evil medabots littering the ground around them, and neither of them had a scratch on them.
“That's it?” Arcsaber asked disappointedly.
“Disappointing” Zeris said emotionlessly.
Crabguts growled in annoyance as Rune looked at him with a sneer. “Alright then, Juggernaut, get out here and destroy the lot of them!!”
Suddenly the wall of one of the classrooms exploded outwards and Rune and Zeptha raised their arms in front of their faces as smoke and debris rushed past them, but soon after they looked forward and saw the smoke dissipating and standing there was the thing that had haunted Rune since that night three years ago. Juggernaut.
“Holy shit” Zeptha said in a shocked voice, and then noticeably gulped. “That is not a Medabot” he said.
“No, its monster” Rune said quietly. “Arcsaber, you ready to go to work!”
“You know it!” Arcsaber nodded.
“Prepare to be defeated again! Only this time the stakes are much higher, unless your lives mean very little to you that is” Crabguts smirked.
* * *
“Arrgghhh!” Cyberdog cried out as it crashed through two class rooms.
“Cyberdog!” Griffon rushed into the ruined class room.
“Function cease imminent” his watch warned.
Maveric came crashing through a section of wall that was still intact and let an animalist roar and leveled its lasers at Griffon who was in the middle of trying to get Cyberdog out of the way. Griffon saw the lasers and jumped out of the way with Cyberdog in his arms, both of them crashing to the ground as volley of laser blasts ripped into the ground where they had been seconds earlier. Despite getting in a few good hits, the fight was not going in the two boys favor as Maveric was running them ragged.
Griffon grabbed a chair and ran at the Medabot, yelling out in rage and desperation as he swung the chair around and smashing Maveric in the side of the head, putting all his strength behind the attack which had enough force to knock the KLN type over side ways, its arms flailing around trying to stop itself. Griffon quickly rushed over to it and started raining down blow after blow with the chair, loud clanks of metal on metal ringing loudly, over and over again, until Griffon had no more strength left and fell backwards on his ass, breathing heavily.
“Griffon are you ok?!” Trey asked as he came running in, but came to a halt when Maveric suddenly started to move again.
“Oh piss off” Griffon groaned.
“Ironclaw, get in here quick!” Trey called.
Maveric got up, dented all over from the multiple hits that Griffon had given it and seem to give Griffon the deadliest of stares as it turned to face him. Trey came up behind Griffon and grabbed him, pulling him backwards as Maveric fully stood up.
“Tri Cannon!” came a booming voice and blue beam smashed into Maveric, barely moving him an inch. Ironclaw kept hammering away with the blasts, but they barely affected Maveric which just stared at him annoyingly and fired a single laser blast that cut through a tri cannon blast and raced inside the cannon, which exploded a second later, taking Ironclaw’s left arm with it. Ironclaw roared in what medabots felt as pain and grabbed at its severed arm and fell to one knee.
“NO!” Trey yelled in horror.
“I told you, you can’t defeat Maveric” Squidhead smirked as he walked into the damage classroom, his arms folded across his chest.
“This thing is too powerful, its armor is too thick” Griffon said in defeat.
“Its not over yet!” Trey growled and pointed his watch at Ironclaw. “Transport Medapart!!”
The beam hit Ironclaw’s right arm and it changed into energy as it was replaced with another part, this one was one that would do a lot damage no matter how thick Maveric’s armor was. It was a bombarder part, that caused Squidhead’s eyes to widen in realization.
“Ironclaw, FIRE!” Trey ordered.
Suddenly half a dozen missiles flew out of the bombarder and raced through the air at Maveric, which realized all too late what was happening and let out a scream as the six missiles smashed into him and exploded, the shockwave blasting Trey and Griffon back while Squidhead braced himself held out against it. Smoke filled the room but Ironclaw kept going, blasting away with missile after missile until the everyone was just about choking to death on the smoke and Trey managed to choke out a, stop.
It took almost a minute before the smoke started to dissipate, pouring out through the windows that had shattered from the blast. Trey and Griffon continued to hack and choke on the smoke which they tried to wave away with their hands. They looked up carefully and much to their joy, Maveric was slumped over a broken desk, with his medal laying beside him.
Trey looked at Squidhead with a smirk. “Is it over now?”

Fatalis and Destiny were slammed into a wall one after the other as Arcangel threw them backwards with her staff, which she had managed to get back again during the course of the battle and was once again dominating the two on one robattle. Destiny slid to the ground, barely able to stand with her body wrecked with damage, twitching every time apart of her body sparked. Then without warning Arcangel drove her staff straight through Destiny’s chest and pinned her to the wall.
“NO!!” Kelly screamed.
Arcangel tried to pull her staff back but suddenly couldn’t move it, and Lisa saw that. “Fatalis, take her out now!” she yelled.
Fatalis jumped from where she was with blinding speed, seemingly disappearing for a second or two before reappearing behind Arcangel, grabbing her around the neck with one arm and punching into her back with the other. The three bolts extended out slightly from the Hammer Fist and dented the armor as Fatalis laid into her, after a few minutes the punches took their toll and the armor on the ANG type’s back cracked in a spider web pattern. Arcangel screamed out with each punch and then some how through all the pain, managed to shake Fatalis off.
“Destroy that annoying Medabot!!” Fingirl ordered.
Arcangel hovered over Fatalis and held a hand aimed at Fatalis, the palm of which opened up and a small tube extended out, a blue flame hissing around it and it became quiet clear that it was another flamethrower. Just as the inside of the tube started glowing with red hot flames, a missile came screaming out of nowhere and smashed into the side of Arcangel’s head and exploded, sending the Medabot flying to the side as half of its head blasted open. Everyone looked up and Trey, Griffon and their medabots standing at the top of the stairs, with Ironclaw pointing its bombarder at the not “dead” Arcangel.
“Now that's what I call divine punishment” Griffon commented with a straight face.
“If you think you’ve won, think again! Squidhead will make mince meat out of the four of you” Fingirl declared.
“Oh, you mean the big guy we just kick the shit out of until he passed out and tied up with an extension lead?” Trey asked.
Fingirl went pale and was obviously weighing up her option, then she screeched in frustration and look at them angrily.
“This isn’t over you little twerps!!” she yelled and grabbed Arcangel’s medal before running off down another hall before they could stop her, probably going to take a fire escape, but they didn’t care, least of all Kelly who quickly went to Destiny’s side, who was twitching badly, but making no attempt to pull the staff out, in she was mostly limp except for the spasm caused by her malfunctioning inners.
“Those monsters, how could they make Medabots like that!!” she said quietly and then grasped Arcangel’s staff and with a mighty yank, pulled the flamethrower staff from Destiny’s body, which immediately collapsed to the ground in a heap. Kelly closed her eyes, forcing herself not to let the tears out before she said in almost a whisper. “Go help Rune and Zeptha.”
* * *
“Arcsaber, watch out for those claws! Don’t let it grab you or its all over!” Rune snapped into the watch as Juggernaut almost grabbed Arcsaber’s arm as he moved around it. The massive Medabot had been modified over the last three years, it was now faster then it had been then, of course its speed was no where near as fast as Arcsaber’s or Zeris’s but it was still quick enough to cause them some troubles. While his Medabot was busy keeping the thing distracted Rune was busy analyzing its movements, trying to find a weakness that he could exploit and he was pretty sure Zeptha was doing the same thing.
“Zeris attack with a Hammer Punch to its right side” Zeptha ordered without warning.
Rune was quick to analyze the medabots right side but he couldn’t see anything that would make him attack it, he wondered what Zeptha was up to. Zeris launched himself at the massive Medabot and drove its fist home but at the last minute Juggernaut swung all its arms around to swat Zeris away, leaving itself open. Rune’s eyes widened.
“Arcsaber! Get in there and attack its left now!!” Rune shouted.
Arcsaber saw what was happening and quickly got in close and blast at the medabots side at point blank range, but he only managed to get in two shots before Juggernaut swung its arm around at him after battering Zeris away. Arcsaber tried to jump backwards but Juggernaut managed to snag Arcsaber’s foot and started swinging the Mk 3 STG around above its head.
“Arcsaber no!!” Rune cried out, then an idea suddenly struck him. “Transport medapart!!”
The beam hit Arcsaber’s legs and they were quickly replaced with the bottom of a PHX type Medabot and Arcsaber slipped from Juggernaut’s grip, flying through the air before he realized he basically fly and slowly floated back down to the ground. Rune was quick to switch his legs back, but at the same time he changed Arcsaber’s left arm with his sword arm. Arcsaber jumped through the air, raising his sword above his head for a downward strike, screaming out like a classic samurai. But Juggernaut was quick to raise one of its laser arms and fired, the rain of laser blasts smashing into Arcsaber and knocking him out the air. Zeris suddenly jumped on Juggernaut’s back but it wasn’t long before one its crushing hands found Zeris’s neck and pulled him off, throwing him through a class room wall.
“Jesus Christ! What does it take to damage this thing!” Zeptha said in frustration.
Arcsaber had managed to get to one knee before the massive Medabot stomped over to him and picked him up before throwing him through the same class room it had Zeris. Arcsaber crashed through desks and chair which helped to slow him down as they had with Zeris, and he came to a violent stop against the wall on the other side of the class room, which cracked upon his impact, already cracked from Zeris’s impact against it.
“This is starting to look pathetic” Arcsaber groaned.
“Tell me about it” Zeris agreed, struggling to get up.
They looked up as Juggernaut came crashing through the wall it had thrown them through and didn’t stop for a second as it continued towards them. They managed to roll out of the way as it made a grab for them but they didn’t have much left in them and they didn’t know how much more they could handle under the current situation. Juggernaut let out a roar as it picked up a chunk of concrete from the wall and threw it at Arcsaber like it was a tennis ball, which Arcsaber hadn’t expected and was hit square in the chest and thrown backwards into a chalkboard. Sticking out of another chunk of concrete was a steal pole which had a jagged end from where it had been broken. Without a pause Juggernaut drove it forward and through Arcsaber’s waist.
“No!!” Rune yelled. “I just brought that Tin Pet!!”
“What?!” Arcsaber snapped in disbelief and tried to move, only to find that it couldn’t move its legs all. “I can’t move my legs Rune!!”
“Shit! That pole must of severed some vital circuitry” Rune said, stressing out, it was almost like three years ago all over again. “We’ve got to think of something.”
“I already have” Zeptha said with a smile and Rune looked at him in confusion. “That armor might be thick but I bet it wouldn’t be able to survive a fall from this high up.”
“This high up?” Rune said in confusion, then he remembered where they were and smiled. “Make a door and I’ll make sure Juggernaut uses it.”
“How are you going to do that?” it was Zeptha’s turn to be confused.
“Just do it!” Rune snapped.
“Fine” Zeptha said in irritation. “Zeris, take out that wall with a Hammer Fist.”
Zeris nodded and jumped over Juggernaut as it tried to blast it, Zeris landed and then attacked the wall where both him and Arcsaber had landed knowing that it was weakest there, instantly the wall away upon the impact of the powerful punch and a gust of wind bellowed in through the hole along with the heavy rain. Zeptha turned to Rune and nodded, and Rune pressed the face of his medawatch, sending a beam out that hit Arcsaber’s laser cannon arm and replaced it with a bombarder type medapart.
“Knock it out the hole Arcsaber!” Rune ordered.
“Juggernaut watch out!!” Crabguts commanded.
“Eat missiles big boy!!” Arcsaber yelled. Missiles poured out of the bombard and slammed into Juggernaut knocking it back a couple of steps, each missile blasting it back just a little bit more but it kept managing to push forward just enough to keep it from falling out of the hole in the wall and it didn’t seem to be taking any damage from the bombardment either.
“Zeris, help him out!” Zeptha ordered.
Zeris ran at Juggernaut from the side and some how managed to execute a crouching sweep kick that knocked Juggernaut’s legs out from under it just as another mass of missiles smashed into it and knocked backwards out of the window. Rune and Zeptha rushed forward and looked out just in time to see Juggernaut hit the sidewalk, smashing into a thousands bits, both of them letting out a sigh of relief, silently thanking god that part was over.
“Now” Rune said has he started turning. “Its your turn Crab……”
Crabguts was gone.
“Go after him, I’ll stay here and wait for the others” Zeptha said.
“I’m going to rip his spine out” Rune growled and with that he ran off.
Rune ran down the hallway, like a blood hound chasing a fox down. It didn’t take him long to catch up with Crabguts either, chasing him up flights of stairs towards the top of the school, but Rune didn’t seem to notice, all he saw was his prey trying to get away from him. Rune powered forth, pushing himself harder to close the distance between himself and the criminal, and soon noticed vaguely that they had emerged on the last floor of the school, and saw Crabguts running for the door that led up to the roof.
Crabguts open the door and went up another, narrower flight of stairs, taking them two and three at a time before he reached top of them and burst through another door and on to the roof as he fished a walky talky out of a perfectly hidden pocket
“This Crabguts, need pickup on top of the school” he spoke into it.
“Roger that Crabguts” came a reply.
“You’re not going anywhere!” Crabguts spun around to find Rune standing near the door that led up on to the roof. “Tell me where my Medabot’s medal is!”
“Are you still going on about that?” Crabguts asked in annoyance.
“I’ll stop when you give it back!” Riven snarled, shifting into a fighting stance.
“Oh this is rich, you think you’re good enough to take on me? I’m Crabguts, the most powerful of the Elite Rubber Robo’s. You have no chance in hell of defeating me, because Robattling isn’t my only interest” the criminal replied as he too suddenly shifted into a battle stance.
Lightning streaked across the sky as rain hammered down on them, casting a perfect back drop as the two readied themselves, though Rune felt a little stupid fighting a grown man wearing a rubber suit. Without warning Crabguts lunged forward and executed a flying spin kick, Rune blocked it with his fore arm and drove his other arm forward, landing a glancing blow to the Crabguts’s shoulder. The criminal brought his knee up and got Rune in the stomach, the teen doubled over just for a second in pain but that was all Crabguts needed and brought his elbow down on Rune’s back, knocking him to the ground.
Rune rolled to the side as Crabguts foot came down and jumped up and then sprung upwards and got Crabguts with an uppercut, sending the Robo flying upwards. He fell to the ground on his ass but was quick to move before Rune could follow up with another attack and lunged forward, tackling Rune to the ground. They rolled around the ground punching at one another as best they could, until Rune managed to tuck his legs up under Crabguts and kicked him away. Both of them took a couple of seconds, getting up and circling each other, wiping water and blood from their faces.
“You can make this easy on yourself and just give me back the bloody medal” Rune told him.
“We never give back what we’ve taken” Crabguts snarled.
“Then I’ll just make you tell me where it is so I can take it back” Rune said dangerously.
Crabguts charged at him and Rune sprung into the air, executing the jumping spin kick he had been trying to get Arcsaber to learn properly, his foot connected with Crabguts’s face and knocked him backwards. Rune landed and rushed him, punching him in the stomach, then in the face, then again and again, his fist connecting with the Robo’s face over and over again until his hands were covered in blood. He hooked his leg behind Crabguts and pushed him over on to his back, before kneeling over him, and putting his hands around Crabguts’s throat, instantly squeezing, the criminal starting to panic.
“Tell me where the medal is and you live, that's the deal Crabby” Rune growled and was completely content with squeezing the life out of the low life. Until he heard a strange noise and looked up and around, and spotted it. A helicopter flying towards the school, it was all black and was moving fast.
Suddenly the world went wild and he fell backwards as Crabguts managed to push him off, he was about to jump up when Crabguts came over to him and kicked him in the side of the head, pain exploding in Rune’s mind. He cried out in pain coughed up a load of blood, but he pushed the pain away as best he could and managed to get up and saw the helicopter hovering above the school already with a rope ladder lowered for Crabguts who was already climbing it, the helicopter moving away as Crabguts signaled it too.
“No you don’t” Rune growled and ran across the roof as the helicopter moved away from the school. At the last second, Rune jumped, soaring over the ledge of the school and grabbing on to the rope rungs of the ladder, looking below just briefly before snapping his head back up, the cars below managing to drive through the flooded streets looked like ants. Slowly and carefully he started climbing up, which was easier said then done, as he had nothing below his waist for his legs to stand on, but he eventually made it up enough for him to get his feet on the bottom rung and he looked up, only to have a foot connect with bridge of his nose, almost knocking him off the ladder.
“Get off! No freeloaders!!” Crabguts yelled and tried kicking him off again, but Rune timed it and grabbed Crabguts foot in his mouth and bit down hard through the rubber. Crabguts howled in pain and then managed to yank his foot free and started climbing up towards the top of the ladder.
Rune reached into a pocket and fished around for something, which he found a second later and started climbing the ladder, climbing after the Robo. Crabguts noticed him and kicked down again, Rune dodging the kick but was caught by another and almost lost his footing with the rain making it difficult to hold on. Then Crabguts noticed something strange and focused on the thing in Rune’s hand, frowning as he tried to make out the small object, then gasped as realized what it was.
“You’re….!!” Crabguts stammered.
Rune smiled. “That's right, its been a blast!” he said and threw the small throwing medal with a red L on it, at the criminal, smacking him in the forehead and made his snap his head back in pain rubbing the already forming lump. Rune fished for something else in his pocket, taking him a few seconds longer to find it then it had the throwing medal.
“Die, Lonewolf!” Crabguts yelled in rage and kicked down harder this time, the force of the hit causing Rune to lose his grip and fall backwards.
He threw the object in his hand and it raced upwards through the sky and hit Crabguts in the leg but went unnoticed as Crabguts pulled himself inside the chopper. Rune fell backwards through the air, his arms out spread as he picked up speed, he was up a lot higher then he thought too, higher even then the Medabot corporation, feeling the air rush past him as he stared up at the chopper, Crabguts staring back down triumphantly.
“Kiss my ass” Rune mouthed suddenly started turning through the air like an Olympic Diver, twisting and somersaulting down through the air with the ground rushing up to meet him and then managed to right himself and landed in a crouch in the middle of the flooded street, water blasting outwards in all directions and revealing the ground road under the water as a large crater formed under him, and as the water rushed back in to cover the road, he looked up with a dark and deadly gaze.
The Rubber Robo’s knew who he was now………
“Oh my god, Rune where have you been?” Kelly asked as Rune came walking in through the front doors to the school, his clothes completely soaked through and his hands covered in blood and his face bruised from all the hits he had taken. “What happened? Zeptha said you went after Crabguts, but when Trey and Griffon went to help you, they couldn’t find you?”
He looked around and saw all the police massed around taking statements and their were reporters as well that were trying to get statements from Kelly, Trey and the others. Arcsaber, and the other Medabots were all being treated to healing chambers having the parts that could be, repaired but most of them were going to have to buy new Tin Pets after the battles, which none of them, except for Rune had expected to be as tough as they were. There weren’t many students around and he was quickly informed that school was going to cancelled for awhile to repair the damage that had all caused, which made him smile slightly, but in the back of his mind he knew that he didn’t have time to smile, action had to be taken.
After a little persistence Rune told them what happened after his fight on the roof with Crabguts, his version of course where he had Crabguts on the ropes the whole time and where he jumped to safety when the chopper came down a bit too low and he was scolded by Kelly for being so reckless about it all, even if it was to get Zeri’s medal back. After telling them what happened though, Rune sat next to Arcsaber’s healing chamber, avoiding the reporters while he thought to himself. He was happy to know though that he didn’t have to buy a new Tin Pet for Arcsaber, the damage hadn’t been as bad as it had appeared at first and the damage was almost completely repaired already. Then they were all called into the principles office.
“What were you six thinking?!” the principle demanded, a middle aged man who worried too much. “You could have gotten yourselves killed, not to mention countless others in the process!” he added, all of them sat stiffly though, choosing not to reply because he didn’t want them too at the moment, they had all been in his office for getting in trouble at least once and knew when he wanted them to explain themselves, and that wasn’t now. “But despite all this, you six have done this school proud and saved everyone in it today, you six should be proud of yourselves, now go home and make the best of what you can on this day” he told them, surprising them with the change of his tone.
“Really?” Trey asked.
“Would you like to go to Math?” he replied seriously.
“Oh no, we wouldn’t want to waste a teachers time and effort, come on guys, lets go” Trey said quickly and was the first out of the door, with the others following close behind, except for Rune who lingered, the whole time he hadn’t really been listening to a thing that had been said.
“What's wrong Mr. Daniels?” the principle asked. “You’re a hero, cheer up.”
“Its not that sir” Rune sighed, then he looked at the principle. “how do you know who to trust with a important secret sir?”
The principle eyed him suspiciously. “Secrets can be difficult things Mr. Daniels, they can eat away at you with time if you don’t have people to support you. So if you have a secret that you feel you must share, then share it with someone close, family members are usually best.”
Rune just sat there for a few seconds absorbing that, mulling over it before finally standing up and nodding in agreement with the principle and then bit him a fair well. He walked to the lobby where the others waited for him, Trey handing him, his black over coat.
“We’re all going to the 24M-Shop, you coming with us? You’ll have to buy a new Tin Pet, you know that don’t you?” Kelly pointed out.
Rune looked at Zeptha a little surprise. “You’re actually going?”
Zeptha shrugged. “We all have a good day, and besides I think we can act civil towards each other for one day, I still owe you for stopping that strange Medabot from stealing Zeris’s medal the other day at the tournament, I have to admit that it shocked me to see you get yourself hurt to protect my Medabot. But after today, things go back to normal.”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way” Rune nodded.
Their limo was already waiting for them when they ventured outside and they had him drive them to Zero’s families shop. While the others chatted, well all of them except for Zeptha, Rune leaned back into the seat and sighed as he relaxed, closing his eyes and seemingly drifting off to sleep but he was still listening to the conversation, at the same time he tired to figure out why the Rubber Robo’s had attacked the school, it didn’t make any sense for them to do so. It confused him.
Finally the car pulled up out the front of the shop and they all piled out, except Rune who lingered briefly staring at his little brother who was asleep on the back seat.
“Driver, take Cain home, we’ll call when we need to be picked up” Rune said, then he turned back to Cain and said quietly. “Live a good life kid.”
He closed the door and the car pulled away from the curve and disappeared down the street. Rune stood there for a few seconds staring after the car, then he sighed and went inside, wiping his face with the sleeve of his coat. Already everyone was sitting around or picking out parts to repair their medabots with. Rune transported Arcsaber and set him on the table, but didn’t start repairing him, instead he walked into the store room, where he found Zero crouched over a new gizmo he was working on.
“What are you working on this time?” Rune asked calmly.
“This little piece of technological piece of wonder that I have invented all by my own, is a Cyber Bomb. Attach it to the side of a computer, immediately links up with the Dr. Aki’s private super computers, gives us complete and total access to the computer its attached to and then, when we are done, you push this button here” he indicated to a cliché red button. “And it sends a massive electro magnetic pulse that will erase everything on the hard drive, while we have all the information we need and more stored safely. For what possible use we’d have for this I don’t know, but cool never the less right?”
Rune didn’t say anything, just went over to a wall, pushed a button and waited for part of the wall to slide away, revealing a locker. He opened it and removed his costume and a large bag. After laying the costume across the table he went about throwing a multitude of items into the bag, all the while Zero watched him with a confused look.
“Rune, what’s going on man?” Zero asked seriously, he could tell something wasn’t right.
Rune stopped briefly. “I have to go on a mission Zero, I need top grade stuff, not the usual junk I use.”
“Why?” Zero asked.
“Because the Rubber Robo’s that stole Zeri’s medal are back in town” Rune said, then added with a certain of frustration. “And they know who I am Zero. I only have a certain amount of time left before they find all the information they can about me and my family and find out where I live. We both know what happens after that. Look, don’t ask questions, just help me get ready, I have to strike first, understand?”
Zero took a couple of seconds to absorb all of this, then closed his eyes as he realized the full implications. Finally he nodded and went to work, sorting out the equipment Rune was going to need. Finally though, Zero had everything prepped and ready to go just as Rune zipped up the front of his costume.
“What about them?” Zero said, referring to others in the store.
Rune ignored him. “The Jet Ski ready to go? I’m gonna need to move without worrying about slipping over.”
“No its not ready, motor’s gone in it, but what am I going to do about them when they ask where you are?” Zero asked again.
Rune was heading for the loading doc at the back of the store, but he stopped and turned to face his friend, his eyes had a sad glint to them, but they were hard and determined at the same time, confusing Zero even more, but then it struck him and he knew. He went deathly quiet.
“I’ll take the bike, water levels have receded enough for me to use it safely. Hey, can I get yah to repair Arcsaber for me? His body is out on one of the tables” Rune said as he pulled his mask on. “See yah later Zero.”
And with that, he was gone…
