Title: I'm sorry, I can't help it
Description: Here's another idea

Riven - October 20, 2004 06:28 AM (GMT)
I know, yah all probably getting sick and tied of me coming up with idea's and not being able deliver, but I can't help it, I've got nothing better to do!! :weep:

Anyway, I've been playing a lot of Onimusha lately and I was thinking about doing an RPG based on Onimusha.

Now my idea is that, instead of setting it in the old days of Japan, we set it in the present day Japan. The plot I've come up with off the top of my head is something like this.

A cult in Japan have discovered ancient manuscripts that explain how to open the gate to world of demons and they unlease the demons upon present day Japan. And to combat this threat against humanity, warriors have been choosen by the Orges to stop the demon race from spreading to other countries and send them back to their own realm.

Thats the basic plot that I came up with very quickly, so obviously it needs a little work, but there are two restriction that I've already decided on, and will not change.

1# The ONLY way to kill a demon, is with a weapon made or blessed by The Clan of Orges
and
2# Everyone that has a weapon blessed or made by the Clan of Orges, all start at lv 1

Weapon Enhancement will be a random event and your weapon can only be enhanced to lv3.

And I'm also thinking about adding two new orbs to the list

the Water Orb and the Earth Orb.

As for fighting demons, like I said, they can only be KILLED, with Orge weapons, if you are using normal types of weapon, you can hurt the demons but you can only knock them out for a random amount of time. So getting a barzooka and blasting them into little bits is just going to piss them off and once they pull themselves together again, you will suffer a painful attack ^_^

So what do yah all think, there's room for improvement, but keep in mind I really only came up with a loose idea a few minutes before sitting down to post this.

I'm all for slaying more demons, I'm in, though how are the elemtental properties of the weapons going to be sorted out and how do we get Orge weapons?

WEll, one Idea I had, depending on how many people want to join.

I was thinking about having only a few positions as choosen warriors available at first and then go from there.

I've got to sit down and work alot of this out first ^_^;;

WZ if I could make up my mind, I would have about five books finished by now ^_^

I've decided not to do the Robotech PRG until I have the Macross Saga, Robotech Masters and New GEneration boxsets, that way I'll better understand the serise and thus be able to create a better RPG that will be more enjoyable.

So I will be trying my hardest to get this RPG going.

Teknoguyver - October 20, 2004 10:32 AM (GMT)
for those of us who haven't beaten or ever played the game you mind telling us what the weapons and orbs are and what they can do?

Riven - October 20, 2004 01:00 PM (GMT)
The weapons you get with the orbs.

In the game there are three orbs (that I know of, I only recently got the first game so I don't know what the other two games are like) the first one you get is the Thunder Orb and with it, you get the Thunder Sword, and to harness the power of the orbs, the Soul Gauntlet, which you use to absorb the souls of demons you've killed.

Each orb has a magic ability as well.

THe THunder Sword is a multiple slash attack that releases Lightning magic

the Fire Sword is a single powerful downward slash of fire
and

the wind sword (a double bladed sword) is tornado like attack which hits most demons at once.

Basically this Clan of Orges, created these orbs and weapons to fight the demon race.

What would be the power range for this rpg? Are the chosen warriors all supposed to be human or can they be other things too?

Power Range

Normal Human's using magical weapons, its not really the humans that are strong, its the weapon that has the power, and I should also mention that if you have a Soul Gauntlet you will have acess to all the orbs plus the weapons that come with them, so with the Water and Earth orbs, thats a total of five weapons that will have three forms, that change as you level up.

The weapons don't really increase your own strength, speed or abilities, so really you would be just a normal human with a weapon created with the purpose of slaying demons. As you enhance the weapon, the stronger their slaying abilities become and the more powerful the weapon magic will become also.

A bit later on, I might allow both demon Player Characters and other magical weapons that aren't made or blessed by Orges, but for now we'll keep things simple. I might even allow the weapons to surpass the max lv3 limit, but I want to wait and see how things go first.

The design of your weapons are up to you, but they have to be bladed weapons, that being said, you have Polearms, swords, double ended swords and war axes even to choose from, and any other bladed type weapon I can't think of at the moment.

I might work on a picture of my own weapon designs later and try to get them up over the weekends, hopefully.

I've only played Onimusha 1 unfortunately, but this RPG won't be based on any of them, the only thing that links them is the Gauntlet, Orbs and Weapons, so while it would help if you've played the games, even Onimusha Blade Warriors, you don't really need to have played any of them.

Sparky - October 20, 2004 04:50 PM (GMT)
Well I'll pm you later with some of the prefered details for my character.

And kaiser, no way, my idea, not yours, this one I'm getting

Mr Zektoll - October 20, 2004 04:56 PM (GMT)
can I have a scythe or a bent metal baseball bat? don't know if there are any weapons like that, but those are always my weapons of choice. I also like naginatas too.

Riven - October 20, 2004 05:04 PM (GMT)
I have no problems with you using a scythe as a weapon, but a bent baseball bat? That's just going to piss the demons off ^_^

Well, I'm heading to bed, I'm going to think about some things, and I'll get back to yah's after I go and finally see Alien vs Predators tomorrow (yes, its only just came out over here)

Night everyone

and how are we going to control the magic in the rpg?

I don't know if all Demons are evil, I only have the first game to go off, and I'm only just half way through it.

As for the orbs, Yes, I'm pretty sure Demons can use it, in fact if I remember correctly, it wa sa demon I had to fight to get the last orb, the Arashi Orb (Or Hurricane Orb, its the Wind Orb)

As for how we'll control the magic, I'll have to think about that, I didn't consider that when I was coming up for the idea for the RPG. In the game, your MP bar can depelet rather quickly if you use the magic continously. Anyway, I'll think of something. Idealy, you should reserve your magic attacks for when you really need them, for instance, it took all the power of Fire and Thunder orb to defeat the guy using the wind orb because I simply couldn't hurt him enough with simple slash attacks......

Kaiser Dragoon - October 25, 2004 01:27 PM (GMT)
So as long as I get to wield two axes and be a half demon, which ever one I can use to cause more destruction the better :beers:

Riven - October 25, 2004 02:35 PM (GMT)
Ok, after playing Onimusha 2 and 3 (I brought 3 yesterday) I have decided to change some things as some things I was not aware of have come to light.

One, the time period that this RPG is now set in, is 2020, 16 years after the third game takes place.

two, you can now use weapons other then bladed weapons to kill demons, but using guns or other normal weapons to kill them will take longer so no easy 1,2,3 kills please if you decide to use normal weapons like guns or knives. However, I will remind you that it doesn't matter how many demons you kill, you will never be able to kill all of them, for everyone you kill, another two or three take its place.

Here's a list of Ogre/Oni weapons you can use

Swords
Spears
Polearms
Whips
Blade Whips (swords that seperate into section bladed whips)
Morning Stars
Flails
Double Bladed Staff
Axes
Helbird
Sycthes
Tonfa Blades
Maces
Nunchukas (I advise you to have small blades on the tips of them)
and basically any other close quarter type weapons that I haven't mentioned above.

Also, in these catagories you can have duals weapons, two axes, two swords, two tonfa's etc, etc.

the catch however, is that only one of your elemental weapons can be a dual set, so choose carefully.

And you can only start with one of the following elements if you're using Ogre/Oni weapons.

Fire
Ice
Wind
Light
Thudner
Earth
Water

You can use the magic of weapons (the power to attack with that element,) in different ways, meaning you're not restricted to a specific movement to execute the attack, so you have more freedom as to how you execute the magic attack, as long as it doesn't come out of your body then its fine, but it has to come from the weapon.

Also, you can now choose to either be a human warrior for the Clan of Ogres - Or Oni Clan as they're also called - using an Oni Gauntlet or you can be a Half Oni/Ogre half human who bare a mark on their left hand which allows them to absorb souls without a gauntlet.

And, whether your using a gauntlet or not, you will have acess to the Onimusha mode, which allows you to become an Onimusha (Demon Warrior) for a short amount of time and in this state you are practically invinicible, however you can only be in this form for under a minute, but your attacks are very powerful in this form. And in this form you still retain your human form, only your skin becomes a dark grayish purple like color, your eyes are a dull red and your hair becomes ghostly white, though I will allow some variants for originality.

In this form you also have another magic attack. This ones allows you to release tremendous amounts of magical energy into the ground that explodes up out of the ground and hurts everything (except yourself and other Onimusha's) caught in the blast radius. Again, I will allow variants of this attack.

In the game you need absorb five purple souls to use the Onimusha mode, but for obvious reasons, this won't happen in the RPG. Based on your participation, and the amount of demons you kill will go towards you gaining the ability to use the Onimusha mode. When I think you've done enough, I will notify you and let you know that you can use the Onimusha ability. You don't have to use it straight away, when you use it is up to you, but when you've used it, you'll have to start all over again, absorbing more souls and doing more, and again, I will let you know when you can use the ability again.

I will also let you know when you've absorbed enough souls to level up a weapon, and aside from your weapons, you can also use your soul count to level up your clothes and effectively turn them into armor, you can only level your clothes to lv3 though which is the max. Other things you can use your soul count for is to level up items, such as med kits so they can heal more. Here is an example of common types of items that you can find from time to time.

Power Jewels - Increases your HP
Oni Jewels - Increases you MP
Herbs - Heals you in small portions (can be turned into Medicine with souls)
Medicine - Heals larger portions of health (Can be turned into first aid kits)
First-Aid kits - Complete heals you
Various items - these can range from things you need to complete a certain task, i.e. rope ladder to get down or up to some place, key to open a door, etc, etc.

Also, concerning weapons

you can only have one type of weapon for each element, an example would be

Thunder Sword
Double Bladed Wind Staff
Fire Sword Whip
Ice Spear
Earth Axe
Water Tonfa Blades
Light Polearm

As you progress, you'll gain the other "Elemental"/Oni weapons.

I'm also going to allow the Sacred Weapons, which are weapons blessed and able to kill demons, they are not as strong as Oni weapons, and they can't be enhanced, but they get the job done.

List includes

Swords
Dagges
Polearms
Axes
and any other bladed weapon

I think thats it. If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to let you know.

However, discussing the games themselves is not what this topic is for Warrior :bang:
