After recent events,it was wisely suggested that we revert to the WG.com rules with a few minor alterations. I had originally thought about doing this, but I had hoped that we could co-exist peacefully with the need for stricter guidlines
No Spamming
-Spam: Posts that are made that have no relevance to the topic, or any relevance to anything at all.
-Examples of spamming:
- Really short post that say nothing (E.g.- “Me too!” or “LOL” or other inane posts of that nature)
- Sidetracking a topic into utter nonsense (E.g.- If the topic is Transformers and you start talking about food).
- Random Smiley Posts. (It is one thing to respond to a previous post with a single smiley to convey an emotion. However posting a smilies without any reference or purpose whatsoever is spam and such posts are subject to deletion.
- Nonsense (Making a random comment that is uncalled for, pointless, or silly or a combination of the three.)
- Role Playing (This would apply if someone role plays and then others respond and everyone starts role playing in some scenario that is off-topic and meaningless. Role Playing that is allowed is to role-play a gesture, a single action directed at another member (as long as it isn’t very negative), or to show some sort of feeling. If the role playing takes on a “life” of it’s own then the moderator may do what is necessary to stop it.)
- Authoritative gestures that aren’t yours to make. (Essentially, it is not your place to administer the law or to take action. It is ok to remind someone else of the rules, but if they are doing something wrong, contact one of the moderators and leave it to them.)
-Making threads that have NO relevance whatsoever is spam. Asking "what kind of chesse do you like?" or "do you like mustard?" or "do you breathe air?" is spam and will be closed/dleted immediately.
No Flaming
-Flame: A negative remark directed specifically for a certain person with malicious
intent to cause harm or insult.
-Examples:
- Extreme Example: "You are such a ****ing dumb**** you don't deserve to
be on this ****ing forum you piece of ****"
- Less Severe Example: "Idiot, go home."
- Role-playing Example: "*blasts (member name) away in a hail of gunfire*"
- Suicide encouragement also falls under flaming. Offenders under this particular category shall be banned on sight!
No role-playing outside the RPG forum
*more of a guideline, keep it limited and we're fine*
-Role-playing: Taking action over the internet and posting as if it were an RPG
-Examples:
- *Bio-Boosts and begins ripping Zoanoids apart*
- *pulls out a uzi and kills his opponents*
Post in the correct forum
-Forums: The little subdivisions of the message board. Under each of their names
in the message board home page is a description of what goes there.
-Example: Posting a video game thread in the Members Artwork forum would be using the wrong forum.
No sales, trading, or discussion of pirated/bootlegged materials, ROMs, MP3s, etc., or on where to obtain it. Discussion of and where to get them is strictly prohibited, since these are ILLEGAL. (if you're not sure, msg/pm a mod first to stay out of trouble). Discussion of them here could get us into trouble.
- Example 1: "WHERE CAN I GET A END OF EVANGELION FANSUB ON THE INTERNET?"
- Example 2: “Oh man this new file sharing program is great! You can find tons of stuff on it, here is the URL….”
Sexual Material is prohibited on this forum. Severe consequences are in store for those who post pornographic material (i.e. pictures, links to pictures, graphic verbal content, etc.)
-Sexual Material: Any picture or text which explicitly talks about or shows sex, the sexual organs, etc.
- Example: "HEY ALL GO TO THIS PORN SITE (insert link)!"
Plagiarism in Fan art or Fan fiction is strictly forbidden!
-Plagiarism: Taking someone else's work as your own without crediting the person.
-This includes tracing and recoloring, revamping, editing another artist's picture without acknowledging them.
-This includes taking a story editing it slightly and posting it as your own
-This includes using a story's original characters or ideas without permission
-This offense can get you BANNED and SUED by the person you stole from
No racist comments or derogatory comments about life choices
-Racist comments: Comments showing disdain for a particular ethnicity
-Derogatory comments: Comments showing disrespect for people who have chosen a particular lifestyle including religious, sexual, and others
-Examples:
- Example 1: "US should go bomb all the terrorists in those Muslim Countries, USA
USA USA!" (clear assumption that all Arabs are terrorists, clear thinking that
American citizens are superior)
- Example 2: "Stop acting gay you faggot!” (using gay or faggot as a derogatory term)
-(Also refer to rule #2: No Flaming)
I plan to be fairly strict about this rule
Stretching the page posts, revival of closed threads topics
-Stretching the page posts: Posts where you don't break up a word with spacing stretching the page's width, like an "AHHHH!" with 100 H's.
-Revival of Closed Threads: Posting a thread again that was closed by the mods.
Revival of dead threads:
- When a thread hasn't been replied to in fourteen days and is something that doesn't promote any form of conversation [going for intellectual here].
This basically falls under spam. If you're reviving a thread that's been not replied to for about ten days, and all you say is: Yeah! That's right. Then it's just spam, plain and simple. And will probably be closed.
No Multiple accounts or ban dodging
-Multiple Accounts: Having more than one AnimeX.com login
-Ban Dodging: Using another account or isp to get around a ban placed on you
-Example: You get banned and you come back as (Your Name)2
-Punishable by rebanning and doubling the first ban period
SPOILERS must be tagged!
-Spoilers: All threads containing information that is crucial to the plot
-Example: "What happens is that in the End of Ninja Scroll (insert revealing fact about ending)"
-To tag a spoiler gives a huge warning about it before you write the spoiler like "SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER" and skipping a few lines before writing it.
Avoid posting a redux. A redux is making a new thread on a topic that has already been done recently. Such as, if there is a topic made about a book, and 15 minutes later another brand new topic is created about the SAME topic. It's ok if it happens maybe once or twice if the original topic had a misleading title or something'
Posting of Outwar links or any related sort of recruiting link for an online RPG is explicitly forbidden on these boards. Any posting of said links shall result in their deletion. We reserve the right to ban you if you continue to post them after we delete them.
-The members of this board are authorized to offer advice to other members of the board regarding board-related matters only when the issue is technical in nature. Examples include "How do I get an avatar?", "How does the rank system work?", or "How do I add pictures/formatting to my posts?". Reminders of the rules are outside of the responsibility of members of the board. This is the duty of the mods and is to remain as such.
-When someone seeks advice of any sort pertaining to board matters, all manner of heckling them for not knowing about something or how to do it shall be regarded as flaming and shall be dealt with as such.
You are responsible for your own account! If someone logs on under your name, too bad. You are responsible for the security of your account, and shall receive any punishments appropriate to actions committed with your account. All identities using your account shall be treated as one for the purposes of your account.
Don't make me mad
You wouldn't like me when I'm mad(sorry, couldn't resist)
Try and be civil to one another
Now I'm not asking you all to be the Brady Bunch, but try and keep things peaceful. If things start getting too heated then You will be asked to take it into PM's. An increase in warn level will be merited for repeated offenses
Other offences will be dealt with on an individual basis
That's all for now,RPG specific rules will be posted later
Thanks to Sully and Matt Bellamy for the original version of these rules.
OK,this one is mainly for the Admins.
Unless expresslt requested by a member,no more changing of member titles. All current member titles will be removed, other than those of the Admins.
You will now need 750 posts before you can alter your own member title
