Title: Uh Oh! Another Idea!!
Description: Bare With Me Please

Riven - September 20, 2004 04:04 AM (GMT)
How would people feel about doing a Macross/Robotech RPG?

Now before I post my idea, keep in mind its been thirteen years since I saw the original Robotech/Macross serise and that was when I was five so bare with me please and also Keep in mind that this is just a basic concept that I've come up with on the spur of the moment, and I have no idea how the original serise ended because its been sooooo long since I saw it, so please bare with me.

~

Its set on a newly established colony - which for argument sake we'll call Macross C20 - on a newly discovered planet very similar to earth where a plentiful supply of Protoculture has been discovered, by both the humans and the new alien threat that has arrived in the same section of the universe that this planet has been discovered in. And now this new colony has to defend themselves against the aliens until reinforcements arrive from the Earth, but they won't arrive for another few years, so the Macross C20 has to use everything it has to keep its inhabitants alive.

Like I said, basic and kind of clich'e concept but its a start...

Now I know its kind of a long shot to ask this of ye all, more specifically Z, Blood, Kaiser and Sparky, but I would really like to keep this as a serious type of RPG, which means no friggin dimension travelling Guyver Organisms, no Dimesional traveling POKEMON or Male Sadako looklikes or anything ridiculous :bang:

Honestly, people have been looking for a low powered type of RPG lately and I think that this could be a low powered RPG.

Veritechs and many of the other batteloids will be available to characters, and I might need some help to come up with some battleloids for this new alien spieces, which i'm still trying to come up with some history behind but I was thinking about making them some kind of cousin species of the Zentradie (sp?)

So what are your thoughts on this, I really think it could be fun.

Sparky - September 20, 2004 07:34 AM (GMT)
Guyvers hoping dimensions is a serious thing, I think thats why BloodStorm brought in his police agency which you have to admit is a practical idea.......... B)

Seriously though, if you get it going don't worry, I'll play by the rules. But I gotta remind you I haven't seen a whole lot of Robotech/Macross even though I have a few of the very first episodes on a tape probaly over twenty years old since it was bought out the shop.

Well, I can only remember bits and pieces of the original serise myself, most noteably the starting relationship between Max Sterling and Miyira....... But other then that I only have acess to the first 12 episodes of Robotech Masters and the first two parts of Macross Plus, which I still don't know how it fits in with the Macross story, so I'm sorta working blind here too. Though I'm getting the entire first serise on DVD for Christmas :clap: :w00t:

But I've been able to find a good site that has a lot of information on the Mecha's of the three shows..

I'm working on the opening post at the moment, though, it might be rather long.......

WarriorZoalord - September 20, 2004 07:48 AM (GMT)
Well, I know a bit about Zentradi and the first macross series, I have the books for the macross saga (first series for those who don't know) I also Own Robotech: Battlecry video game, and I saw/read a lot of the second series, so I'm in. I also know ofa site abotu a lot of MAcross mecha, mainly the different VT'sthough.

Sparky - September 20, 2004 05:06 PM (GMT)
I also have Robotech: Battle cry but I don't know if it's enough to say influence the making of an rpg, remmebr the games only second hand info compared to hte series

Riven - September 20, 2004 05:11 PM (GMT)
Here is the two sites I've been using to get my info on the Mecha, ships and Vehicle info

http://www.steelfalcon.com/macrossmecha.html

and

http://www.kent.net/robotech/rpg/things_to_know.shtml

with the second link, just scroll down to the bottom of the page and follow the links to the other stuff.

What are these sites that you go to Warrior Zoalord?

Astroguyver - September 20, 2004 05:59 PM (GMT)
I'm In but on one condition cince i wanted to try this . I want to be a zintrati with a vertech big enough and proportionate to his size.

WarriorZoalord - September 23, 2004 06:45 AM (GMT)
I've been to the MAcrossmecha site bye steelfalcon, but not the other.

Astro, a Zentradi With a Veritech proportinate would make him roughly as big as either the Prometheus or Daedalus Super carriers.... I don't think that THAT would be allowed, a Battleoid is 50 feet tall, multiply that by 50 times...... thats 2500 feet tall... about the only thing that could rival it would be the capital ships.

Teknoguyver - September 23, 2004 10:10 AM (GMT)
macross plus is more of an AU story then anything. if you'll all remember the sdf-1 was destoryed near the end of the Zentradi war.

Riven - September 23, 2004 11:53 AM (GMT)
Actually I found out the other day that MP isn't a AU its just a side story about the Super Nova project that was to decide which of the two Veritechs in it would be the next production models, and as it turned out it was the VF-19 Excalibur, which fate would have it was quickly succeeded by the Alpha and Beta models which were smaller, faster and slightly more powerful.
But it was set on the colony planet of Eden, and then in the fourth part they went to Earth...............

Anyway, as for an update as to the status of this RPG, I've started the opening post and I thought I should let you know some of the restrictions I've come up with so far.

1. No one will be using full blooded Zentradi's, they can have micronized half breeds like Dana Sterling but no full blooded ones, giant or mirconized.

2. No super dimensional characters, at least not until we get a bit into the RPG, even then there will be some restrictions to what you can do with them.

3. No Guyvers! No Zoa's!

4. You'll only be able to use a Veritech from the list I provide, and only those ones, but don't worry, there will be a fair few to choose from, and you can make some small modifications to them, like slight power output increase, etc, etc.

5. No DBZ fights or I'll have to introduce you to Magie.

Thats it for restrictions at the moment, there shouldn't be any need for any others hopefully, but we'll see.

~~~
Now just to let you know who the alien specie is.
This war will be against the Anunnaki, an evil and acient alien race that lives in the uncharted territories that even the Robotech Masters or Invid won't go in. The Anunnaki are evil creatures that carry horrific experiments on their prisoners. But the Anunnaki also hide a secret, something that will cause a major plot twist in the RPG later on.
I'll have more info on them up before I post the opening to the RPG.
~~~

So get your Datafiles ready, and if your playing a human that has a mech, put the mech info in the same datafile and you can only have one Veritech at any one time so choose carefully, study the veritech info at both those sites, disregrading the RPG info in the stat descriptions...

Of course you'll have to wait until I post the list of Veritech's, but I'll probably have a lot of Veritech's in the list so the likely hood that you'll pick one that isn't on it is low. The classic Veritech of the original serise will be in it.

I might need some help coming up with mech's for the enemy though, so if any one wants to post some suggestions please feel free, I was thinking about trying to make them similar to the Zentradi, Robotech Masters and Invid mechs just to keep things simple.

WarriorZoalord - September 24, 2004 02:24 AM (GMT)
any Veritech you say? I call dibs on a VF-17S Nightmare Stealth Veritech :P

Riven - September 24, 2004 07:28 AM (GMT)
Don't get over excited Warrior, wait for the list before you decide :D

WarriorZoalord - September 24, 2004 08:58 AM (GMT)
well, In every Robotecfh RP I participated in, I was always flying the VF-19 :P I personally think thats one ofthe best, just gott he fact its the only official Stealth Veritech type.

Riven - September 25, 2004 03:53 PM (GMT)
Keep your options open Warrior ^_^

Now, who here know's about Warhammer 40K? Or better yet, has seen the Warhammer 40K Elder Minatures?

Well, if you have, then you know how cool their mecha and suits look, for those who don't

user posted image

This is an Elder Wraithlord, a very cool and powerful mecha to have in your Elder army, I've been thinking about buying one for myself purely for display though, but they are very expensive so I might just look at the picture for now. However I am not here to discuss Warhammer 40K or how ridiculous the prices are, that is best left for another topic or rant ^_^;;

I'm think about using the Elder as the base designs for the Anunnaki because I simply can not visualize what their mecha is like, but I think the Elder mecha is as close as possible to what I think their mecha may look like, plus its cool and being able to provide pictures of what each thing looks like makes it easier for the players to visualize the enemy. Of course I'm going to be changing and adding a few weapons here and there, so the weapons will not be the same, just the mecha.

However this does not mean the Anunnaki are like the Elder or even Dark Elder (evil version of the Elder) they are completely different.

So what does everyone think?

WarriorZoalord - September 26, 2004 11:20 AM (GMT)
It Kinda reminds me Of a beefed up zentradi battlepod..... looks cool though.
