I'm ignoreing fourth edition.
I have too many 3rd edition rulebooks sitting within arm's reach that have never been used to justify spending god knows how much money on a new set of rules.
Simply don't play enough these days to justify it.
I might read through things, and take a couple bits I like to houserule into my 3.5 games, but other than that I'm not going to bother.

I'm seeing a lot of that in reguards to 4th. I'm only going to get the books so that i can play a game or two and get a good feel of the new system.
Anyway sorry i haven't been around much if at all but i'm boat bound and we pull out for two weeks to a month or two at a time.

I've read the 4th edition previews. And I'm looking forward to it. I'm gonna buy the core books and after a while start converting my still on-going campaigns to fourth. I love how the races are redone and the new races they've added. The warlord class looks sweet. and The Warlock is awesome.

WARLOCKS FOR THE WIN!!.
I do dislike the fact that warlocks have to use wands now, but they do have some sweet powers.

The MAIN thing I'm interested in as far as 4th goes is the rebalancing between melee and caster classes.
3.5
A wizard can with a little luck, take out a monster as high as 4 or 5 challenge levels higher than himself, even if you take away all his gear.
Most melee classes would be hard-pressed to take on an even CR monster with non-magic gear, let along no gear at all...
I hear 4th has cut down on the reliance of magical items pretty nicely.. so I'll look into that too.. never liked how the magic items defined the character, not the otherway around. I think a good character should have 3.. MAYBE four. peices of serious magical equipment...

According to what I read they do balance the classes better. Also they've changed the way Item creation goes for Wizards and what not. No more xP cost, and they took out the item creation feats and put them into something called Rituals. Which I'm guessing does the same thing but in a more streamlined way.
Also on the Wizards of the coast site it just says June 2008 for the release not a specific date does anybody know what that is?
