As some of you may recall for the last few days I was gone, well I'm back now, once again I was staffing at anime central, and anime convention in the chicago area where the shit always hits the fan and theres no end of surprises. It wasn't quite as epic as last years visit which you can read about here

But there was still some crazy stuff going down this time too.

I think one thing that sets this years visit apart from the others is the sheer amount of scantly clad boobs that I saw at this one. Not that I'm complaing about this, its just something that kinda stood out for me. Also there was a ghost that attacked a kamina cosplayer and an idiot who got beat up by a cop but lets talk about the boobs first.




This year had 50% more boobs then any of the other years. All types were showing up here, Small, big, old , young, sqeezed so tight they were popping out, naked, fake, imaginary, male, female, transexual, we got all types here. Even without the legendery guy with boobs I encountered during another year the place was full of them (to read about the boob guy incident go below)

But all that aside, heres what happened

When I arrived it was a dark and stormy day. Some other stuff happened on thursday, but I'm kinda having trouble remembering what it was. I do remember for some reason my room was in another hotel , which was a first, usually they put me in the same one the convention is. I also met a guy who was on staff who was telling me about how one of the years some dude was running around the building with no pants on for some reason. Alot of weirdos sure do turn up here. :P

Anyway the next day I spent the morning doing custiomer service stuff for the staff. Unlike last year which was a train wreck in terms of organization this was very well done. Probably the best organized acen I've been to which is what the noobs on staff don't understand. Some of them even complained about it not being organized, they had it easy this year though. One thing that stood out when I was staffing this day was this really fat dude who was cosplaying as a pink haired anime girl. Not that we don't get that sort of thing here, but what stood out was how much detail he put into making the fake boobs. He even put fake nipples on them which was kinda freaky.

Later after I bought a bunch of stuff and then did more customer service stuff I went to the gurren lagann panel. This is where I got to see some naked boobs. Among the people running the panel was a girl cosplaying as Simon, for those who don't know Simon is the character in the front of this picture

To avoid having naked boobies she had Simons stomach wrap wrapped higher then in the pic, but at the beginning of the panel this came undone and I saw her naked boobs. But she kept running the panel anyway which was cool. At the end of the panel there were several contests where I owned everyone and won a baloon with some pictures on it and a Gurren-dan T-shirt that was too small for me. One of the contests was making a drawing to promote Gurren Lagann. I drew a picture of the pink fuzzball dude from the fourth episode. To see what he looks like watch the below clip

The title of my picture was "MANLY ANIME GURREN LAGANN" it beat most of the others only losing to a chibi Viral picture which was drawn by someone who was actually really good at drawing. The panel people liked my fuzzball butt violation pic so much they took it home to hang on their refrigerator.

After that I went to anime hell which had alot of cool stuff in it as usual. for some reason the auditorium this wa sin seemed to have magically grown larger since last time with magic.

The next day started off unremarkably with more customer service stuff and then the psychology in anime panel. But then I went to the viz panel, for those who don't know viz is a manga/anime publisher in the usa. I usually wouldn't have given a damn about viz enough to go to their panel. But Karl Horn worked for viz, and I wanted to find out if he was actually at the convention this year. Unforntaly this attempt ended in failure. Viz didn't show up for thier panel for whatever reason, so about 15 minutes after it was supposed to start, I hijacked the panel myself and got up in front of the room wearing my paper plate mask and began to rant about my sure fire solution to the anime industrys problems. My ideas were so awesome that everyone ended up loving the panel. And thats how I saved the day there. Shame there was no one from viz or the other anime companies in the industry there to listen to what I had to say.

After that I went to the giant robot battle panel and the acen insanity panel where my wacky hijinx weirded everyone out.

After that I saw the premiere of Machine girl. For thos eof you who haven't seen it, this is Machine girls prevue

This was one of the craziest most hard core movies I've ever seen. The prevue really doesn't do it justice, its sort of like what you would get if you took Kill Bill, Ichi the Killer and Army of darkness and just mixed them in a blender. At one seizure inducing point near the end of the movie I wondered to myself if I was actually here or if I was dreaming. The flashing lights just made it feelo like a dream at that point, its a very hard sensation to describe, but then again i hadn't gotten alot of sleep at that point so that may have contributed to this. After that I went to panel where some people talked about how acen is haunted. That very day only a few hours before I went there, a Kamina cosplayer got attacked by an invisible entity that grabbed his shoulder and flung him on the floor. Apparantly it seqquezed him pretty hard because he said it really hurt. After the panel I went up to where his room was and photographed it kind of hoping that somehting unusual might turn up on it.



But as you can see nothing of the sort came. One of the things that bugged me about the people on the panel, was that like most belivers and skeptics, they had alot of preconceived notions about what exactly was going on in this phenomena. Even if an event is truly unexplained and it looks like it is caused by a ghost or an alien or whatever, that doesn't nessecerly mean that that is what it is.

After this apparantly someone got out of control



Another guy who got out of control got a beatdown by the cops. About half the police department, including the cheif of police came to acen because some guy dropped something out of the window. Personally I think they just had nothing to do and were boared. They found the guy and arrested him, as they were taking him away his idiot freind starts talking smack to the police cheif. A bigass cop comes up to him and tells him to back off. The idiot doesn't back down and starts acting up which causes him to be on the receiving end of a beatdown from the big giant cop.

The next day I had to get up mega early at four to do staff stuff. I spent half the morning watching three strutting fools go around the con and go up to every girl they saw and say "WOMAN! (blank blank blank ) WOMAN! HAHAHA!" I'm not even sure what they were saying only that it had the word woman in it, but it was funny to watch.

After that I got Yuji Moriyama, the screenwriter of project A-Ko and animation director of Rebuild of Evangelion to sign my mask. I also discovered that the early gamera movies are all in public domain now at the kaiju panel. Dunno if that info will prove useful or not. The most useful thing I found out on the last day related to script writing since the script writing panel included some useful information about how to do collaborative comics, now I just need to contact the artist I'm working on Parasite Galaxy with about what I found out.

At the end of the day I had to do more staff stuff, I found a camera that had a picture of some guys sniffing coke in it and also an ID belonging to Christmas, the guy behind the bloody masturbation incident. The staff wasn't too thrilled to find out he was back sneaking intot he con I gotta say. And yes , this mans name is Christmas, names like what you read in "Deathnote: Another Note" are real apprantly.

So yeah, this year wasn't super epic, but it had naked boobies and a ghost so I'm happy with it in the end.

Aww man if me and bloodstorm came here at the same time the place might implode from the craziness, now imagine if we were there and then Nabeshin, the dude with boobs, the ghost and Christmas all showed up.

The hotel would probably implode in on itself from the amount of WTF that would go down if that happened!
