On that note.. fourth edition is coming out soon.. I've heard good things.. I've heard bad things.. Probobly just going to take a few good ideas from it and houserule them into my 3.5 games. I've spent WAY to much money on 3.5 to justify converting to 4th right now.

I've read both previews for DnD 4th edition monsters and worlds and Races and Classes. and I like what I've seen. Yes they have gotten rid of a lot spells and feats but they come back in the form of powers each class gets every class has pools of powers they can use. the Warlock and wizard class got major overhauls the warlock instead of being an infernal caster chooses his power source. Dragon, Fey, Demon, devil. The wizard now can modify his spells depending on what he uses to cast, wand, staff, or Crystal ball.

Tieflings have been overhauled and are going to be a core race along with the Dragonborn who are awesome looking. all the races have been redone and are better for it in my opinion. For instance their are only 3 kinds of elves. Eldrians who live mostly in the fey wild and are magic users. Elves who live in the forest and are more drudic and natural. And The Drow who are Fey but don't live in the fey wild.

They have concept art for the world which is stunning to say the say the least they don't have a full land just interesting places that can be dropped into any game. Also from what I've read some 3-3.5 supplements are still compatible with 4th just a little tweaking here and there. I can't wait for it and my local store is planning a release party for it. It sucks that Gygax died before it was released though he probably would have liked the changes they made.

Another reason I'm not too keen on swapping over..

I have close to a thousand dollars of 3.5 edition books.. and that's just what I can get without leaving the room I'm in right now to look for more.

And I've played maybe three games in the two years it's been since my father passed.

I don't use the stuff I have now.. upgrading will mean I use it even less.. and that puts a bad taste in my mouth.
