I need some help guys. Lately my computer has been wacky. It's slower then before, frezzes up video's jump and jerk and when I go into my computer my C drive is displayed as a big red X. and when I open it. after some folders theirs about a thousand files with Pos as the first three letters. and I can't delete them. plus their are these messages that say I have errors in my startup. I'm using a Dell I've had it for about 2-3 years and I'm using windows XP home edition. I've tried a systems restore and it didn't do a Damn thing. I would call Tech support but those bastards are charging PER MINUTE. And I'm really hopeing some one here can help. Would a PC restore delete all my files including the ones this thing came with? or just to the way it was when it was shipped?

In this instance there is only 2 choices for you Bloodfang

you can either

A. buy a new computer

or

B. Reformat the thing, WIPE EVERYTHING

Next time don't get a dell and don't get home edition

It sounds like you have some crazy viruses on your drive, what you could try doing is taking out the drive and scanning it with another computer for viruses since it sounds like it might be too jacked up for the virus software to work properly on the drive.

A. don't have the money but would buy a new one if I did.

B. I would only my dad got this for me threw a relative who works for dell and I didn't get any disks besides the drivers I could buy Windows XP office or vista and update my Os. Or reformat and start over with Vista.

The changing harddrives is a good idea but the only other computer is a mac. I'm screwed eight ways from Sunday aren't I?

Well you could always just pay some guy who knows stuff about computers to clean the drive for you. I would be willing to do it if your willing to send the drive to me, but that would require waiting and other stuff like that so maybe you want to find someone in your area.

That..is a good idea. If I can't find anyone around here I'll talk to you about this. I have a few people in mind. Thanks for the help.
