This is a short preview of my upcoming Highlander fic, so far, only four or five pages are done, I'm taking things slow with this fic..... Anyway without further ado, let the Quickening BEGIN!!!!

The Evanescence

Chapter 1: The Awakening

It started with a loud resounding crack after the tectonic plates of the earth shifted and the world trembled as a great earthquake was felt all over the world and set off one of the biggest and most dangerous the earth had ever experienced. But somewhere in a mountain village, a great boulder that had rested heavily against the side of a mountain for untold centuries, suddenly cracked down the middle and simply fall apart in two halves in an anti-climatic way, revealing a long and dark tunnel that stretched on seemingly forever. At least that’s what seemed like to the small child that stared down the tunnel with curiosity in his eyes, curiosity that evaporated his fears and spurred him forward, down the dark tunnel with his hands on the wall to keep him balanced and to help him to feel his way through the tunnel.
After what seemed like an eternity in which his mind screamed for him to turn and run back home to the little hut he had made for himself in the village, the young boy emerged into a spectacular ice cavern. The walls were a cliché crystalline like blue from which glowed from some unknown source, a fact that didn’t bother the child as he turned around in amazement, thoughts of turning the cavern into his own personal hide away. The ceiling was covered in dozens of ice spikes that had began at sometime to slowly melt, dripping every few seconds in an ominous sort of way, but even that seemed to of no concern to the child. It was until he came to a stop in front of a wall that his heart stopped in fright and surprise.
Embedded within one of the ice walls was the figure of a person who was nothing more then a silhouette to the little boy, but never less he stumbled backwards and fell on his butt while staring at the frozen person in fear, but also in a calm he had never felt before. Without warning the ice wall in front of him cracked, small at first, but then a few seconds later more cracks appeared in the wall, startling the boy into crawling backwards. Suddenly the ice exploded outward as a ghostly scream came out of nowhere, the figure inside stood there for a moment, its limps frozen in place, sticking out in gestured as if the person was begging for help. And then in a slow motion the person fell forward, landing on the ground in a heap in front of the now terrified boy, who promptly got to his feet and ran back the way he had come, screaming in terror with tears of fear streaming down his face.
Inside the slowly defrosting person, a flicker of consciousness stirred.

So, what did ye all think?

And just so everyone knows, I didn't make Onishi up, it is an actual Japanese Family name, ^_^;

Not a huge fan of Highlander myself but it does seem to work, though the first chapter better be longer then this :P

he did say it was a preview, and I'm sure it'll be longer, especially if I know riv :P

If I can be bothered to do anymore of it that is.............................................

yeah, he's been thinking up soo much stuff that he might have a bit of a problem getting to it, haha.

My head will explode before that
