What ever happened to old school rpg's? The kind with character levels, stats, you know, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest style. How come there are none like that here?

We do have one, it's called Baulder's Gate and by the looks of it, it seems to be dying a rather slow and agonizing death :D

actually, as i've said several times, BG kinda died because most of the team in the mines is awaiting an update on the fight against the necromancer.
