Title: whats your favorite rpg
Baron of Guyvers - August 3, 2004 07:16 PM (GMT)
clearly all the members of this board are rpg fans I was just wondering what everyones favorite is. and by Rpg im speaking of games not the ones we conduct.
personaly my facorite is Legend of dragoon. it has a wonderful story and the gameplay is good too. also the movies are very good for when they were made
Gall_4185 - August 3, 2004 07:19 PM (GMT)
Well the Bioware games go without saying, especially the Baldur's Gate series and Star Wars:KOTR. PLus Bloodstorm and myself have a penchant for NWN
Kaiser Dragoon - August 3, 2004 08:38 PM (GMT)
Good ol' Final Fantasy is good, Legend of the Dragoon was also a favourite of mine B)
BloodStorm - August 4, 2004 12:26 AM (GMT)
Like Gall said, I spend way to much time playing NeverWinter Nights. (NWN)..
As far as old school goes though, I'm a fan of the BOF series.. and Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross are pretty good games too..
"and by Rpg im speaking of games not the ones we conduct."
You do know that the G in rpg stands for "games" right? So if one wanted to nitpick, he could twist your words around and validate choosing an rpg on these forums as his favorite.. but eh.. I'm guessing you ment videogames and the like, correct? ;)
Teknoguyver - August 4, 2004 02:21 AM (GMT)
xenosaga. i'm loving the hell out of the game right now.

xenosaga good but i liked gears a whole lot more. I stillcant wait for episode 2
BloodStorm - August 4, 2004 03:26 AM (GMT)
Heh. you know I'm just joking with ya Baron. I'll even fix your post so it's obvious you quoted people. I can see where some people could get confused otherwise.
Okies.. Now it's easier to read.. Remember, Simpy copieing and pasting to quote doesn't work as well on these forums.. make so people realise your quoting someone, and who your quoting.. Just a friendly tip
(plus if you get into the habit of proper quoting now, all those high school reaserch papers will be alot easier on you)

man ty bloodstorm I just dont get the quoting stuff. im comp. illiterate
Also no offense to all the FF fans but not all of the games are good mystic quest sucked and ff11 made me bored really quick then I felt like I wasted money after a week. But I got to give props to tactics because that introduced me to a game genre that i love to this day
Astroguyver - August 4, 2004 01:47 PM (GMT)
I liked all the final fantasy ames other then online. Online is a rip off since the people that play it get multipule people to play one charater 24/7 it is un fair to the ones with lives out side the PC. I really liked LOD, Xenogears is better then xenosaga. I got bord with xenosaga in 10-20 min. im currently finally playing ffX and i just found my kingdom hearts. But my all time favorite RPG is FFVII and FFVIII. Nothing can ever beat them.
Baron of Guyvers - August 4, 2004 05:57 PM (GMT)
Astro dont even get me starte on 7 and 8 they were both soo good. junction system was soooo good.
Another one of my favorite RPG's is Skies Of Arcadia. for gamecube it was good for cast but cube just has alot more stuff to do

Oh come on, the Sphere Grid in FFX was good too! I love that system!!
Baron of Guyvers - August 4, 2004 06:04 PM (GMT)
sphere was good but its alittle ify in my opion because if you dont have your caracters learn the right move you could end up with a healer auron. Another thing that was bad about 10 was that if you go to the monster arena and fight the cacktuar just put on dmg to exp and you gain rediculos lvls

If you want to beat all the Dark Aeon's without relying on Zanabato then you'd realize that those lvs are exactly what you want.
Because really if you want to fight Penance then you're going to want to level up A LOT.
As for Healer Auron, well the whole point of the Sphere grid is so you can practically make the characters what you want them to be.
For instance, my Tidus is a fairly good White Mage at the moment while Yuna is a very powerful Black Mage and Lulu has a lot of Blue Mage potential ^_^
Mind you thats one of three saved X games that I've been playing.
Astroguyver - August 5, 2004 12:58 AM (GMT)
Try but in time you can even learn everything for everyone. so you can have tidus and the gang learn EVER move on the grid. it just takes a while.
guyver 6 - August 5, 2004 02:58 AM (GMT)
well games in general i am loving the hell out of right now are Samuri Warriors and Armored core (2 and 3)
but over all favorite rpg would have to be........well final fantasy and i would like to play Galerians:Ash
Baron of Guyvers - August 5, 2004 03:04 AM (GMT)
Samurai warriors was good but it was bassically a dynasty warriors incarnation wich is one of my favorite series. The sad thing is there all the same but I cant stop buying them all. Now I cant wait for empires to come out.
As for armored core I love any game with giant robots. but I can never beat the last lvl of AC:3

ARMORED CORE ROCKS!!!
I love these games. I'm a lightweight and middle weight pilot all the way, no one can beat my fast speed tacts
Sorry, AC just makes me want to blow things up and gets my blood pumping, but I wasn't joking before, no one can beat my lightning speed mecha's!!
guyver 6 - August 5, 2004 06:55 AM (GMT)
well i tell you what if you liked armored core 3 then nexus will blow you away which will be released on 8/24 i think and i cant wait
and Samuri warriors and Dynasty Warriors are almost the same but they are addicting
BloodStorm - August 6, 2004 03:27 AM (GMT)
Hate to break it to ya Riven.. but I know a guy who could out-do any lightweight you throw at him. He's an ArmoredCore prodigy. It's like he's one with the game.. Zen and the art of AC.. yep.. He doesn't even have to try to beat most people... Just watching him is scary.. (shudder)
I prefer nice big heavy mecha myself.. allthough I really shine in games that let you go "Plus" and use the overweight trick.. (huge arse weapons.. super light uber-fast legs.. My "PitLord" has been described as a Linebacker from hell. )
I'm REALLY out of practice though...
Wait a sec... why are we talking about Armored Core in a consol RPG thread? Last I checked it wasn't very RPGish...
Riven - August 6, 2004 07:17 AM (GMT)
No I suppose its not an RPG, but an RPG could be made out of it ^_^
Still, I would like to go head to head with this friend of yours, I've been without a real challenge for a few years now. As for him being one with the game, well its not like I can't sync with my game either ^_^ I only brag when I have reason to.
Tydorei Belouve - August 23, 2004 08:49 PM (GMT)
My Fav rpg would have to be Kingdom Hearts. I love to customize the gummi bear ship. And the disney charecters in it where cute. Some bosses were hard for me tho. Trying to do a certain spell or skill or chaining them together... <_<
WarriorZoalord - September 6, 2004 10:10 AM (GMT)
I'm playing Tales of Symphonia for the GC right now, that games pretty gool.
I like the FF series except FF2(Japanese) FF3 (Japanese) these two never came out in america cause they bit the big one i bet, the Game boy games, and MQ, they all sucked, I also liked Skies of arcadia. Though wayyy back before sony came up with the playstation, I was playing a sega saturn game called Albert Odyssey: The Legend of Faldean, and I gotta say that was a pretty damn good game, storyline was better then Some of the FF games, I want to play it again so i've been huning around for a place besides EBay that might get me it and a Saturn, and I may have found it, just gotta call the place tommorow to see if they can get it for me.
Honorable mention RPGs: Wild Arms series, Arc the lad series, and Kingdom hearts.
Riven - September 7, 2004 04:20 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Kingdom Hearts was cool, I absolutely love the ending, so beautiful.
I can't wait for Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 2 to come out, they're going to be sooooooo cool.
