Title: The slow process in learning how to CG color

Yeah...just thought I'd share some thoughts about a recent art craze I've gotten into.

So recently I've been learning how to digitally paint pictures. For this I've been using a program called "GimpShop", which is a "hacked" or modded version of Gimp that makes the VUI look closer to Photoshop (originally it was meant to be used to help photoshop users get the hang of Gimp, but in this case I used it because it is very compatible with tutorials directed specifically for photoshop). Looked at some tutorials on Deviantart, and then I decided to give it a quick try.

So I went looking for some lineart. Ran out of ideas, so I decided on using a Cloud lineart that I found and liked (link is here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/346672...h+age_scale%3A5 )

Note that the lineart doesn't belong to me. Props for TheHoodedNinja (@Deviantart) for making the lineart.

Here's my WIP (work in progress):

It doesn't really look the greatest, but I can tell you that through this I learned a hell of a lot about digital watercolor and coloring. It's obviously not done yet, and I am currently working on the clothes.

Please keep in mind that I am a beginner at this (while I do have experience in traditional art--such as sketching and painting, sprite manipulation, and special gfx, this is my first time attempting to do something as difficult as coloring a picture using a raster graphics editor). If you have any advice, PLEASE give it to me, because I can use all the help I can get.
