Title: Favorite music
Description: Genres, artists, albums...

Prisoner in Grey - July 26, 2006 04:35 AM (GMT)
Music, as most of you may agree, is the most influential type of entertainment there is. There are so many kinds of music and so many feelings you get when you listen to it, it's almost indescribable.
I'd like to know what kinds of music everyone hear listens to so I can extend my own taste in music, and hopefully others can do the same.

My favorite band/singer is Johnny Cash. His music has had the biggest effect on my life and I owe everything to it.
Johnny Cash is considered country/rock, but he really sounds nothing like other country singers. If you listen to just one of his songs and don't like it, you may not listen to him again. But I guarantee there is at least one song he has that each individual here would enjoy.

Some other bands I like are:
The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jimi Hendrix
The Doors
Run DMC

You've got a good preference of style there...

YOU DARE TO INSULT cRAP?

Meh, I don't like it really...most of it is too extreme.

Eh...singers...never liked them much...they always seem like extroverts...except more invasive and more self-centered...but its all ones opinion...

Personally, I like video game soundtracks. My Ipod has a healthy mix of Final Fantasy, Halo, Skies of Arcadia, and Kingdom Hearts music...just wait till I get Onimusha Dawn of Dreams soundtrack..then I'll have it all...

Though I guess my opinion on music must automatically be ignored if I consider the Advent Children renditioning of "One Winged Angel" the pinnacle of musical achievement...

Link - July 27, 2006 12:40 AM (GMT)
One Winged Angel is awesome. Most of the music I listen to happens to be game soundtracks...The Halo 2 Official Soundtrack is the only that really comes to mind right now though.

Jerrad - July 27, 2006 04:56 AM (GMT)
Ya know, that was my first soundtrack, and its okay, but there's really a lot better. FFX, Advent Children, Skies of Arcadia, that's where its at. I have a bit of Halo music though...its just not quite on par with the rest.

Hectaimon - July 27, 2006 09:37 PM (GMT)
I like anything that sounds good to me. A lot of it happens to be game music, rock, Weird Al, and soundtracks from certain movies and anime. E Nomine and the Black Mages are really good.

Shadow Bahumat - July 28, 2006 12:51 AM (GMT)
I enjoy classical music a lot...Like the ORIGINAL FF7 version of the One Winged-Angel. That one was good. Then the made it an Rock&Classical song in Advent Children...those lousy fools. And what's up with the crazy rock music in FFX? Come on...the ruined the series by destroying the classicalness (ish) of the series...

Andy - July 28, 2006 03:16 AM (GMT)
I mostly listen to math-rock, Noise, drone metal, 70's industrial, no wave, early 90's post rock, free jazz, avant jazz and some drone-y ambient. I guess I could say Throbbing Gristle is my favorite band, but I'd probably be lying. I could also say it's Merzbow, and as far as I know, not be lying.

As for a favorite album... the first thing that comes to mind is Slint's Spiderland. If I gave it more thought I'd probably say either Evol, Confusion is Sex (both Sonic Youth) or, perhaps, Einsturzende Neubauten's Kollaps.

For the most part, I despise video game and movie soundtracks, but I like/tolerate classical... I'm not sure what this means...

Hmm...you may enjoy this band called Kamelot. Try them out and see if it's what you're looking for.

See the awesomeness of Mark Wood and his electric violins!!!!!!!

This guy and his instruments are awesome, I'm saving up for one. For music go under about us and click audio file. I recomend Howedown and Vivaldi rocks.

Duero - August 5, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)
I like the full-versions of anime ending and intros and a lot of classical piano music.

j@k - August 5, 2006 11:43 PM (GMT)

These are some depressing posts, guys.

Expand your tastes beyond to 90s/00s! Stop denouncing entire genres based on what little you've heard (rap and death metal, for example)! Likewise, don't assume you like "everything" based on the probably very minimal amount of genres you've listened to. "Everything"? Really? I take it that includes Zeuhl, harsh noise, grindcore, epic-doom, noise-hop, hard-psych, etc., etc...?

Indy - August 9, 2007 11:42 PM (GMT)
I have to agree with Andy there are some great 80's bands and 70's bands etc.

Andy - August 10, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
Psh! The 70s and 80s are great, sure, but 30s leftist folk and 40s hard-bop are where it's at, man!
