Title: Inactivity at FE Armory
Description: Who's guilty? *Raises hand* ME!!
Beachchickrules - May 30, 2004 12:44 AM (GMT)
Howdy y'all,
I've been so inactive because of how badly I suck at Fire Emblem. <_< I did so poorly on Eliwood's Tale that I just... quit playing. I haven't played for weeks now. :(
Does anyone have any general hints and tips to offer someone who knows about TBS but knows nothing about FE? Maybe I'll try playing the game again, but I'm still pretty mad at it for being so hard to me.
Check it out, Kyle and I got my emoticon right: :heather: H00t w00t!

Guidelines:
1. Anyone who has a name, picture, and affinity, and is not a boss, will join you. You just have to figure out who to have them talk to. (1 exception: The first time you meet Pent, he will have a name, picture, and affinity, and will not join you. He will join you later, but not the first time you meet him.)
2. Always have a staff-user on your team. No exceptions.
3. Remember the weapon and magic triangles:
Sword>Axe>Lance>Sword
Light>Dark>Anima>Light
In the case of weapons with "reaver" in their names, just use the opposite weapon that you would normally use to combat them. For example, if your enemy wields a Lancereaver sword, attack with an axe. It will have the weapon triangle advantage. And in the event that two "reaver" weapons face each other, the weapon triangle is returned to normal.

Abuse the arena. ABUSE IT!!!! GRRRR!!!
MarxDruid - May 30, 2004 09:18 PM (GMT)
yeah! use the arenas to their full extent. in the second arena, i brought up Sain and Kent up to level 20 paladins. I also brought up Guy and Dart to their max (already upgraded). it was sweet since i got through the game in less than two weeks while *cough* studying *cough* for the Final Exams.

Those guidelines are good to start...
-Those reaver guys can be pounded with magic and bows as well...in fact, it's a lot simpler :)
-always have at least one(if you're confident) staff user... sages, druids, and bishops count too...
-indirect fire units can counter indirect fire, directs, direct fire. Mages, shamans, and monks can always counter either form, but have weak defense...
-hand axes and javelins, along with their brethren can counter both types of combat...
-have vulneraries on hand for all units
-the arena is your friend-once you finish off the pre-deployed enemies in an arena level, take the opportunity to level up all your characters in that chapter a boatload...

Don't forget about Vaida! When you first fight her she'll be a boss, but don't kill her (I wouldn't worry too much, she's near invulnerable) since she joins your group later if you let her live. Just stay away from her the first time.

Uber-spear is teh awesome! Also, don't forget to use the mine trick. And abuse the arena! Wait, I already said that...
Nergal's Minion - June 1, 2004 10:09 PM (GMT)
The RuneSword and Light Brand up close function as swords, but from a distance they are Nosferatu and Lightning, respectively. Level up Ninian/Nils to level 20 and then use them as bait-they're near invulnerable! Always deploy Merlinus (what have ya got to lose?), and always have Thieves use torches. Lesse...Assassins can use lockpicks, but only Thieves can steal from enemy units, so always have a Thief around (not like you have a choice, there's only 1 Fell Contract!). Whenever you can, do the side quests-you get tons of XP, valuable items, and occasionaly an extra character (coughCANAScough). Ummm...that's all I can remember.

There's two, actually. The secret shop on VoD has one. That's where I usually sell my member card.
The arena is EVIL! Always back down if you know that you have even a SLIGHT chance of losing... *coughIwishIhadthiskindofadvice...cough*

Well, you made a good point about not killing her, but she is a boss, and will not join you while she is a boss.

Wolf: Abuse the arena. Abuse the arena. The arena is EVIL!!???  Wha?? LOL

Noonononono... It's the coloseum-type building! I used the Arena trick that NM showed us. I got my Florina/Raven/Guy/Canas/Batre to 20/20.... before my cartridge erased itself!
Nergal's Minion - June 4, 2004 01:51 AM (GMT)
There are Arenas in (Eliwood's tale) 16x, 20, 23, and 29x, if I'm not mistaken. They look, as Wolf said, like an ancient Roman stadium whose name I can't spell. You are asked to wager a certain amount of gold (I never go over 700, unless I have Nini's Grace), then the unit you sent to the arena and an enemy unit fight. The fight continues until someone wins or you hit B to quit. If you quit, you lose the gold you wagered. If your unit dies, it's gone forever. If you win, you get experience and twice the amount of gold you wagered. Hope that clears things up for you...
Wolf_010 - June 4, 2004 03:26 AM (GMT)
Hee... I lost 5000 gold by using the arena without Ninian...
Nergal's Minion - June 4, 2004 02:23 PM (GMT)
What...didja keep yielding?
Wolf_010 - June 4, 2004 05:09 PM (GMT)
No, I used Marcus with teh uber-spear and killed Dart. Of course I kept yielding! What else?:P
Nergal's Minion - June 4, 2004 08:40 PM (GMT)
Well...um...I don't...that's...eh...SHUT UP!
kryptonite - June 5, 2004 12:41 AM (GMT)

Nergal's Minion - June 5, 2004 03:04 PM (GMT)
Well, it does look like a...um, thingy. It's just so small that it's hard to tell.
Beachchickrules - June 12, 2004 09:28 PM (GMT)
:o OH! Haha... err, yeah, I knew that!!! Uh... NOT!! :P Thanks Nergal's Minion and Wolf for the info about arenas.
I still haven't started a new game of FE yet but when I do, I have the valuable information in this topic to help me. :D
