Title: Yoda, Vader warring
Description: in Soulcalibur IV

Gildragon - July 2, 2008 06:52 PM (GMT)

I found the following info rather interesting

CES '08: Yoda, Vader warring in Soulcalibur IV
Namco Bandai and LucasArts team to add Jedi Master to pacify Xbox 360 version, Sith Lord to rage on PS3.

Cameos are nothing new to Namco Bandai's long-running Soul Calibur fighting series. When Soul Calibur II released for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox in 2003, each version received an exclusive, and seemingly oddball addition to the game's fighter roster. Nintendo's iconic sword fighter Link wound up in the GC version, while Todd McFarlane's Spawn materialized in the Xbox game and Tekken's karate master Heihachi Mishima appeared in the PS2 game.

Yoda takes a swipe at Cassandra. With Soul Calibur III seeing a console-exclusive release on the PS2, Namco Bandai forwent the cameo route, instead throwing all three out-of-place fighters into the same ring. However, with Soulcalibur IV slated to arrive this summer on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Japanese publisher felt a new round of iconic fighters was in order.

Namco Bandai today announced from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that it would be partnering with LucasArts to add Darth Vader to the PlayStation 3 version's roster, with Yoda joining up with the Xbox 360 crew. Screenshots released with the announcement reveal the two will both wield their respective red and green lightsabers, though no other details on how the two characters will play were given.

Voldo seems to be no match for Vader.Soulcalibur IV continues the story begun in the first three fighter installments in the Soul Calibur/Soul Blade series, with Project Soul returning to development duties on the game. In addition to new battle system, Soulcalibur IV will let fighters create their own custom characters with distinct looks and moves and will also feature online play.

Yoda would destroy everyone.

Xugoh - July 3, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
So the point of this thread is to talk about the upcoming soulcalibur game? Cuz i'm a soulcalibur fan, sort of...

I don't really like the idea of having star wars characters in the game... It's just ridiculous, i'm all for bonus characters but they could at least bring some from a universe similar to the game.

Kira - July 29, 2008 01:12 PM (GMT)
The game is coming out soon. Vader, and Yoda are going to be fun to play with. I never really play these games, but Vader, and Yoda are enough for me to try this game.

SilverBlade - July 30, 2008 08:32 PM (GMT)
Xugoh, wasn't that Spawn dude in the xbox version of SC2? He wasn't exactly from SC universe, but it worked out ok. I'm sure Yoda and Vader will be fine. Actually, I heard Vader pwns Yoda, GJ. EGM ftw. Unfortunately, I'll be getting Yoda on my 360. D= I wanted Vader..

Anywho, loved SC2 and 3. That one for the wii? not so much...thought I made a SC thread. :o Idk.

Mushroom Cloud - August 7, 2008 10:09 PM (GMT)
SC is good, but the characters dialogue is retarded. Half the time, it has no relevence to the fight. Also, I heard Nightmare is actually a good guy in the new one.

I had SC2 for the Dreamcast and 3 for the PS2 i didn't see any characters from other games.

I don't see Nightmare as a good guy. Besides i never really understood how the hell Sigfried and Nightmare got separated did that happen in Soulcalibur 1?

First off, there is no Soul Calibur 1, as far as I know anyway. That, or it was called Soul Blade. user posted image

GC had Zelda, but he fit in perfectly with his shield and sword. Like a male version of Cassandra. And I believe PS2 SC2 had Heihachi (from tekken. that old guy) who also fit in perfectly, seeing as he came from a game just like SC2. I don't think SC3 had any platform specific extra characters, but don't quote me on it; I'm not sure and I'm bout ta go to sleep so I don't feel like googling it. xD

Gildragon - August 8, 2008 02:52 PM (GMT)
yes that is spawn

Xugoh - August 8, 2008 03:03 PM (GMT)
Yup it's spawn alright.

I see only the DC version didn't have any special character... oh well i still liked the game.

SilverBlade - August 8, 2008 04:15 PM (GMT)
I never even knew there was a dreamcast SC2. Isn't dreamcast mad old? xD Oh. It was in between ps2 and ps1...

er..dude...are you positive you had SC2 for dreamcast and not just SC? o.O

Xugoh - August 8, 2008 04:45 PM (GMT)
Oh it was one! Seems you're right Will, hey the the DC isn't THAT old... >.> ....... i still love sonic adventure, jet grind radio power stone and the inumerous awsome RPGs.

But then it only confuzes me even more. What happened to the story in Soul Calibur 2?

How did Sigfried and Nightmare got seperate bodies once Sigfried lost Soul Edge?

And didn't Maxi die of severe injuries at the end of Soul Calibur 1 then?

Acording to each character's story each retrieved soul edge right? What happened to them then and why were they looking for it again on Soul Calibur 3?

I mean it's a great fighting game but the story is too darn confuzing.

It's like it has a different plot for every character...

I can see why Yoda would want to detroy Soul Edge and Vader would want to gain it to enhance his dark side power.

I really thought i had played the second one cuz there was already lots of things we didn't know from the begining and the third game actually made some sence without playing the second one...

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED???

SilverBlade - August 9, 2008 04:41 AM (GMT)
I never followed the plot. I just kicked butt. XD Meh. i'm best with Kilik. Maxi is ok... I friggin hate that girl...crap, I forget her name. well...shes.......mature, for lack of better words. She's like a friggin ninja. Erich beat me with her on SC3 cause she attacks so damned fast I couldn't get any attacks in. Even with blocking. >_<!!!

Interficio Nocte - August 9, 2008 11:22 AM (GMT)
I don't like the addition of the SW characters, if for not other reason, than because Yoda is like, soooo cheap.

He is too short for half of your moves to hit. >>

Mushroom Cloud - August 9, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
Mabye they set up the game so that when you face Yoda, Your charecter 's attacks all aim low. And if you want cheap, Link was cheap. He had his bombs, boomerang and a friggin bow that if the arrow hit you, it knocked out about half your health.

Xugoh - August 10, 2008 12:40 AM (GMT)
Yeah short oponents are a pain in these kind of games.

Nah, I'm sure hes tall enough for regular attacks to hit him. That'd be way too cheap. Vader is like.. teh uberstrongness I heard, though.

Same here! I didn't even know there's a storyline.... Do you mean Taki? I use her all the time, though her costume annoys me. XD

And I like Nightmare's new sword and costume in SCIV (see trailers on Gametrailer.com). ^^ But the voices of the characters were kinda....blah. T___T

Go online and you'll know why every n00b uses Yoda. ; ;

Yeah, thats her! Really? See, I don't mind her costume. At all.

And wow, Nocte, that's screwed up. :-/ I suppose if you're good enough it doesn't matter. Thats what blocking is for? XD

It is screwed up, if they were smart, they would block Yoda and DV from the online matches to make it fair.

I am certain if GGL hosts a tourney, they will be banned from use.

Xugoh - August 12, 2008 11:03 AM (GMT)
The ninja girl you were talking about is Taki.

Quick research on wikipedia would help you all.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_(series)

The first game was Soul Edge, thus followed by Soulcalibur, Soulcalibur II, III, and IV. There's also some Legends game that I saw in the wiki link.

I thought you could unlock both SW characters in the games. =/

Interficio Nocte - August 12, 2008 04:45 PM (GMT)
If you are talking about Yoda and Vader, that was a rumour, devs said they had no plans of making either one dl content on another console.

And Spawn was in SCII I think, Link was in the GC version I think too. 0.0

SilverBlade - August 13, 2008 03:00 PM (GMT)
Right. I said that. Spawn was xbox, GC was link heihachi was ps2...

Wiki annoys me, Mark.

And right, Xugoh. Fearless said so a few posts up though. xD shes just too fast >_<

Vader=ps3 yoda=360. As far as I know you can't get both in one game.

Hyorinmaru - August 13, 2008 03:19 PM (GMT)
Cheat codes and Game Sharks. <3

SilverBlade - August 13, 2008 10:19 PM (GMT)
No one likes a haxer, Mark. :-/

Hyorinmaru - August 13, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
But, hey. If it gets you the characters, then why the hell not?

SilverBlade - August 13, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
cause you hax.

Hyorinmaru - August 13, 2008 11:25 PM (GMT)
I actually don't. I'll only use cheat codes on games I've already played through and beaten, and just want to start a new one with everything to just go and kick ass.

SilverBlade - August 13, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
XD Mhmmm

Back on topic, anyone have the game yet?

Neloangelo - September 21, 2008 03:50 PM (GMT)
I have the game now on the PS3. Vader really isnt all that but The Apprentice is bloody awesome. Theres been a lot of additions to this game. Story made has been changed to sort of like Team Battle style. You no longer fight against one character. Its 5 stages against multiple characters. It isnt bad actually but its short for me =/ It definetly has a lot to do with the tower of souls mode having like over 60 levels and they get real tough. Its a great game I must say.

Anyone wishing to play against me on the PS3 version feel free to add me. Nelo_Angelo7

Xugoh - September 21, 2008 03:59 PM (GMT)
The Aprentice? You mean the guy from Force Unleashed? I didn't know he was on that game.

Neloangelo - September 21, 2008 04:04 PM (GMT)
Yep, you unlock him in both games by beating Arcade mode with Darh Vader. On the 360 its by beating it with Yoda I think. If you master him you can be deadly, he's got some awesome moves that requires to use the force bar which depletes with the moves. But recovers slowly.
Mitsurugi still kicks ass ;D and Yoshimitsu has some new moves too what with him having two swords now.

Mushroom Cloud - September 22, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
I alwys thought Mitsurugi was the worst character. Never really like him. Moves to slow.

Neloangelo - September 22, 2008 10:23 PM (GMT)
Slow? o.o he is like a top tier character cuz of his speed and strength.

Mushroom Cloud - September 23, 2008 01:30 AM (GMT)
I always favored the characters with staves. Like Kilik( If thats how u spell it), or, in another class, Raphiel.

Xugoh - September 23, 2008 01:53 AM (GMT)
My faves have to be Killik Sigfried and Mitsurugi also. But it's kinda hard to control Mitsurugi cuz sometimes he'll shed his sword for some reason.

Neloangelo - September 23, 2008 01:56 AM (GMT)
Thats his style, if you can learn to use him well trust me you will kick all ass. He is a really good character. Yoshimitsu is one of the best in that game. His speed is amazing making his short range attacks hit their target thanks to his teleportation.

Maxi is one of my favourites too

Mushroom Cloud - September 24, 2008 07:16 PM (GMT)
Maxi is fast, but his attacks are a bit too short range for my likeing.
