Alright now for the defenitive top 5 villains in video game history.
These guys are not in any particular order, being all vicious scumbags it's kinda hard to rank them.
Ramirez (Skies of Arcadia)
http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ski...dia/ramirez.jpgOnce an honored warrior of the tribe of the silver moon he was sent down to the world in order to find and retreive the moon crystals for the Elders of the great silver shrine, however he was discusted by the way people lived their lives and soon fell to the brainwash of Admiral Galcian of the Valuan armada. Together they ploted to overthrow the current ruler and use the moon crystals themselves to create a new world free of corruption and greed. The first to fall at our hands (sort of...) was Galcian leaving poor little Ramirez cornered and without a master/mentor, overun by grief he goes a bit emo and sheds a black tear... (or was that the eyeliner....) he fights and once he sees he is about to taste defeat for the first time he fuses himself with the huge silver Gigas Zelos, there is a big air ship battle and after we kick his a$$ he returns again this time in a hybrid state a new battle begins and he dies for good.
Why does this guy deserve praise? Besides wearing a cool outfit and having a sword that imposes respect to aany swordsman, he also possesses a fairly good arsenal of special skills. His story is in my opinion quite good, sure it's not evil EVIL more like... misguided-evil.... but still he is ruthless and he will kill without blinking, he will also come to your floating island base and burn the the place to the ground literaly taking you and your crew members to his fortress. How many villains actually take the fight to you huh?
Although this is already worthy of aplause this is still not the reason why i chose him. During the cours of the game you will able to face Ramirez in three different situations. The first two you are offered the option to surrender quietly.... but who cares!
The first two times you fight he comes at you with God mode, that's right when you fight early and at the middle of the game you lose, he is simply unbeatable, even if you are also using god mode yourself (like i did XP). So he wins the award for being the only NPC i know so far that has 2 consecutive wins in a game against a player with God Mode. Ramirez > God Mode.
Melfice (Grandia 2)

Melfice was the top swordsman in your village being raised by the chief he was the island's pride and joy and was soon to marry the chief's daughter... (which kinda bothers me a little since they were suposedly like brothers.... anyway), that was untill something went terribly wrong and Melfice endedup killing her in cold blood, cold gooey purple blood... don't ask...
He kills her with the village's treasured sword passed down to the top warrior in order to protect everyone. Melfice kills the girl we was about to marry maybe cuz we was possessed by the horns of an evil god of darkness... or maybe he was just having a bad hair day... After the tragic events Melfice leaves the island and Ryudo our hero is exiled, because the villagers don't want to remmber what happened by looking at him... harsh....
Like Ramirez we fight this bad boy more than once...... well ok only twice, the first time we get beaten to a pulp and utherly humiliated.... well only if your sensitive about these things...
On the second fight things get serious. Although he is alone Melfice actualy counts as three oponents, the sword, a demonic mouth on his arm and Melfice himself. Three targets that act as a team in one of the thoughest battles in the game, both the sword and Melfice take care of dealing the paine and dishing out those massive special skills and spells while the mouth thingy on his arm uses bothersome suport spells that will raise his stats and cast poison or skill seals on your party.
He is not the main villain of the game, nope. But his presence is well placed. Ruthless, sadistic and sophisticated, it's guys like him that make me thankful that i am an only child.
Pope Zera (Grandia 2)
http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/dreamca...acpics/zera.jpgIf i indeed had to rank these characters Zera would defenetly rank lower than Melfice even though he is the main antagonist, don't get me wrong i take great pleasure in beating the hell out of the pope like the next guy, but in terms of "so evil it's cool" Melfice takes the crown over him.
Zera is the reason i will never ever trust church representatives in video games, it was the first time i got to say, "Damn i got screwed by the freakin pope!", well yes this leader of the church of Granas the god of light and everything that is pure and holy made you go on a wild goose chase to destroy the sealed pieces of the dark god, while knowing that by doing that you would only be aiding to bring forth it's return.
This guy really had me fooled, i always thought the mastermind was someone else..... like Melfce, but no! It as jolly old pope!
After you foolishly run around releasing and gathering the pieces of the vil god, they are assembled by the church and Zera becomes the evil god hilmself. Of course he ends up being beaten once you get inside the behemoth.
Lan Di (shenmue 1 and 2)

This silk wearing mobster is a master of martial arts and proof that crime indeed seems to pay sinc he rides around in fancy cars and afords nice robes while conducting business with his cartels. The leader of the infamous Chyomen, blood thirsty and mysterious.
Lan Di breaks into the Hazuki residence and meets your father at the dojo, he uses his thugs to throw out the freeloader that is currently living and training with you and proceeds to interrogate him. That is when you arrive, you see Lan Di take down your old man without being touched once and then he grabs you by the throat lifting you high in the air. Your father gives in and reveals the location of the dragon mirror. Lan Di unhands you and utters a man's name, that you later come to discover to be Lan Di's father whom your own father killed for possession of the mirrors. Lan Di deals a fierce blow that aparently causes severe internal injuries and leaves as your father dies in your arms.
For the extent of two games that take more than three cds each and several weeks and months of questing in order to track this man down, you only see him once in the two games (not counting the times when he appears in your character's nightmares). His appearences are at the begining of the first game.... well duh, and at the very ending of the second one, when he flies away on his helicopter. Not even once you get to put your hands on him.
This bad guy is so good even the game's creator Yu Suzuki hasn't come up with a way to kill him!!! That's just how good Lan Di is!
Shao Kahn (Mortal Kombat)
http://eter22.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/...shao-kahn01.jpgRuler of Outworld, this guy has been alongside Liu kang one of the symbols of mortal kombat, once the most terrible force in all the MK universe, now Shao Kahn looses his spot to a barrage of new villains and falls down to the likes of Shang Tsung and that fire beast guy from Armagedon. But to me Shao Kahn will always be high in that tower right after Motaro.
With punches and kicks that could send you fly across the screen and a mallet that would depleat about half of you health bar, Shao Kahn will always be the meanest, viceous monster in all Mortal Kombat.
Cat Puppet (Dynamite Headdy)

This cool cat is the most evil puppet to grace the sega mega drive, this cat puppet obviously sent by the mastermind who wants to destroy the puppet world will come at you with full force. Time and time again it will drop onto the scene with it's own theme song and steal the show. I think that would make him a boss...
After beating him the first time, it will change to a bunch of different mechanical bodies nd only it's head (it's weakness) will remain the same.
You just never know when you are about to beat him it will fearlessly continue it's regular attack pattern untill you figure it out and rip it's head off once again.
