History: Adeline used to live in a town called Zachyes. It was a small town on the outskirts of the Eastern border. Their family lived in a small house, it was nothing special but at least it was a place she could call home. Their family sold bread for a living, so their house was always filled with the warm smell of bread. Adeline was the youngest out of the three at age seven; an elder sister, Veronika aged 14 and an elder brother Ian, aged 16, who was the oldest. Her elder sister, Veronika doted on her, and Adeline was extremely close to her. Adeline looked up to Ian, since he was the oldest. Unfortunately that was going to change. One night, when the moon was a thin crescent, bandits attacked their town. Barging into her house, they quickly slit the throats of her parents. The three of them had run upstairs and hid in their bedroom. The bandits ran up the stairs and started pounding on the door. Veronika cradled her, singing a soft lullaby to calm her down. While her eldest brother just sat there and bawled his eyes out, saying that he did not want to die. The bandits were knocking the door down now, and it was only a matter of time before they broke it down.
Her sister pulled off the bracelet with engraved words and entrusted it to Adeline. Pushing her and her brother under the bed, she ordered them to stay quiet. The pair immediately did as they were told. Her brother was hesitant. He should be the one, not her; but he wanted to live. He feared death. Letting a final tear slide down the side of his face, he crawled into a ball, and shut his eyes. Adeline was shocked, with what just happened. The bandits only saw Veronika sitting there, and demanded the location of the other two. She would not speak, so one of them pulled her up by the hair. She spat at his face, which greatly angered him. With a swift movement, he silt her throat, blood splattering onto his face. Laughing like a mad man, he walked out of the room, amused by the girl’s effort. Adeline had watched the whole thing happen before her eyes. She was pale, and her pupils were shaking uncontrollably. Using the last of her strengths, Veronika crawled over to Adeline. Tears streaming down her face, she whispered, barely audible, “I’m sorry…”, and took her last breath. Ian grabbed Adeline from under the bed when day broke and they both left the town.
They were taken in by a kindly old couple in the neighboring village of Agraria. Adeline never talked to her brother again. He was the eldest, yet he did nothing to protect them. Clutching on hard to the bracelet, she swore she would avenge her sister. He was such a weakling; he did not deserve to live. Four years had past, and Adeline was now 11. In these past four years, villagers were disappearing one by one; and their numbers were rapidly increasing as each day passed. There was much speculation about them being the responsible culprit, being Yoma. The town’s folk shunned them, isolated them. Adeline was seeing less and less of her brother, which made her worry. On a night where the stars and moon were hidden from view, Adeline was woken up by a scream that pierced through the entire night sky. Walking slowly down the stairs, the elder couple lay there a bloody mess. Guts, organs and blood were everywhere. Adeline felt like throwing up, the stench. Where was her brother?! Adeline stumbled down the stairs, and out into the open streets. She started screaming for help, and alerted villagers came pouring out of their houses with lit torches.Pointing at the house and frantically explaining her situation, the villagers suddenly pushed her to the ground. Pitchforks were raised and pointed at her.“Wha..What?!” Adeline questioned. “You’re a Yoma! You and your brother are both Yoma! Ever since you two appeared, people have been going missing! Kill her!!”
The hoards of villagers now huddled close to her, leaving her no breathing space. A screeching scream pierced through the night sky. It came from behind, everyone turned immediately. A gruesome creature stood before them. They were frozen, not moving an inch, trying hard not to attract its attention. Adeline peered through the small gaps, her eyes widening. Those were the clothes her brother was wearing. “Nii-san?...” The creature advanced slowly towards her, it dug its hand deep into the person’s body, ripping out the remaining guts. It devoured them, crimson dripping from its mouth. Flinging the wasted body to a side, the creature proceeded on. The crowd of villagers, parted like the Red Sea, not wanting to upset it. It was in a semi-morphed stage, certain qualities made it look human, but other than that it looked positively like a Yoma. Adeline recoiled in fear; this was no longer her brother. The Yoma stretched out its hand, and reached over for Adeline. Its face started to contort, morphing into a hideous sight. Adeline was shaking in fear. She was going to die, this was it. The remaining clothes on his back were ripped off as his body expanded. Its skin was pale green with a hint of grey. “No..someone..help..” Adeline choked out each syllable at a time. No one would step forward.
The Yoma, started up a run, and picked up speed. It jumped towards her, and Adeline shut her eyes. Metal made contact with its teeth. Adeline slowly opened her eyes; shocked breaths escaped the villagers’ mouths. The locks of a pale haired lady fell slowly back into position. Turning to give a glance at her, Adeline saw the most alluring and unique eyes ever. Cold silver eyes. The lady wore heavy armor, and wielded a gigantic sword. Leaping gracefully into the sky, and with a flick of her hand, the Yoma’s head dropped onto the floor, spraying Adeline with purple fluid. She sat there shaking, the lady flicked off the remaining fluid off the tip of her edge. She was getting smaller now, walking further away. Adeline got up and ran after her, tugging at her cap. The lady simply turned around and gave a deadly stare before kicking her off. Adeline fell back knocking her head hard on the gravel, she passed out. Life was never the same after that incident. Suffering on the streets, she survived on what little scraps she could find. Life was hard and miserable; there was no reason for her to live on. She was whisked off to the South, where she endured more hardships. Adeline was then put up for auction, in front a large crowd. She was going cheap, since she was lifeless and had no will to go on. A man in a black coat stepped forward and offered to purchase her. So the deal was sealed. “She’s perfect, no kin. No will to rebel. Just what the organization needs.” Adeline was brought to a training facility. Where should would be trained, to become a Claymore…
Misc: - Adeline is left-handed (because well I drew her sword on the wrong side…so yeah)
