So I had an idea run through my head that I just couldn't let go of, and it slowly became more and more formed in my mind until the image of everything was right in front of me. This will be my second character, yet another Claymore trainee, but if you want me to stick to Walter I'll understand. Though, please tell me what you think of this character.
Name: Roxanne
Gender: Female
Rank: --
Insignia:
Race: Claymore
Type: Offensive
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Height 172 cm (5’6”)
Weight 55kg (121 lbs)
Dominant Arm: Right
Attribute: Strength
Likes: Honeyed lemons (even if she’s not hungry she will eat them when she can), things that are well thought out, trying anything out in a variety of ways, being self-sufficient, leather.
Dislikes: Mostly her dislikes are negative traits that can be found in people. Such as those who are: insecure, inconsiderate, show-offs, suck-ups and spineless whiners. She also dislikes bears and wolves.
Personality:Roxanne’s self -esteem and respect is fairly high and people can find it difficult to make her feel bad about herself. As a result when she thinks of something new she tends to use it at a time she deems appropriate and does so without a doubt in her mind. She is what people would deem to be extroversive, and likes chatting with as many people as possible(when the time is appropriate) and maintaining a friendly relationship with them without having to change how she is. At the time, she isn’t exactly an attention-whore, and never feels the need to be a big part of something that would grab a person’s attention. In a number of situations she tends to go with what she’s told so long as she doesn’t see it as ridiculous, and in the event she may take charge she keeps her personality upbeat and relaxed so she doesn’t have to deal with a huge mess of a team.
Appearance:
Special Skill: Pinwheel This technique involves Roxanne leaping into the air and making herself into a human cannonball, and sending her blade as well as her own body flying towards an opponent in a spinning manner that is very similar to an actual pinwheel, and effectively charges at the enemy in midair while spinning like a fast circular saw. When she is close to the enemy she raises her sword and swings it down with a large amount of force to cut through the heads of opponents, and in the case of facing an armored enemy (like an awakened being with a thick shell of skin like Duph), she will strike them with the flat side of her sword to attempt to smash through their armor. However, there is a drawback to this technique…if it’s to be used in a series of attacks then it requires continual bursts of yoki. And even a standalone attack requires a large burst of yoki, so while it is powerful it is risky, requiring a release of 15% just to start the attack, and a burst of 10% per each extra leap. She rarely goes beyond the limit of 50%, so soon stops after around 5 leaps, but hopes to increase the number of attacks to make it even more effective. In addition, her sides are left wide open and would be at the mercy of a very well placed attack to her sides. As she rises in the ranks she will be able to use her yoki more efficiently as well as increase her speed and power.
History: Before becoming a Claymore Roxanne had been the second youngest sibling in a family with 4 children: herself, her two sisters and the eldest of the siblings, their brother. Their parents were former merchants from the western lands that traveled the continent, making a living by selling goods and bargaining with other merchants and peddlers. For as long as Roxanne could remember the family had always been traveling, running the dangers one would expect from the way of a merchant: bandits, losing one’s way, coming across wild animals, and villages struck with a plague. They never had much money but they had enough to put food on the table each day, and that was enough to make them all happy. However, some time after she turned 6 years old Roxanne and her family paid a stop to a village to the southwest region of the continent, which overall seemed to be a fairly stable town. The family had decided to take a rest at the town’s inn after doing business as usual. It was the next morning that things started to become chaotic. Roxanne’s father had awoken from bed early, and decided to take a stroll through town early to pass the time. Some 10 minutes after mindlessly walking through town the father had heard the incessant coughs of one of the villagers in a house, the window wide open for air to come and go through the house. Reluctantly Roxanne’s father took a peek inside and saw the villager, a woman, whose skin and body was torn apart; not by another human, but terribly misshapen by what could safely be assumed to be a disease.

(something like this)
Running back to the inn, Roxanne’s father had to ask the innkeeper about the disease. Reluctantly, the innkeeper informed Roxanne’s father about a recent plague that came over the village. The skin deforming was a very common symptom, as was incessant coughing. It could continue on for a number of months before the victims’ lives slowly drained away. There wasn’t any cure for it as far as the villagers knew, and the doctor was at a loss for plagues. Naturally the father didn’t wait to wake the rest of the family and leave as quickly as possible. But unfortunately, the gates that led to the town were under maintenance, and it would be a week before the family could leave. The merchant family had no choice but to wait the week out...and it had been a long week of listening to the coughs and moans of pain from the numerous villagers outside. That week however, eventually caused the parents to catch the same plague as well. Not wanting to spread it, the parents rented out a different room for themselves until the week was over, and even then they refused to stay with their children anymore, out of fear for them catching it as well. The eldest brother closed all windows and doors at that time in an attempt to prevent it from spreading onto them. By the end of the week Roxanne’s parents entrusted the merchant business to her brother, for he was the oldest of the sibling and knew the most about running the business. Reluctantly the siblings left the town and their parents behind, never knowing what truly happened to them but safely assuming they were dead.
The merchant family continued to do business, being incredibly careful with where they went and what they did. The siblings continued their business for about 6 years, before finally giving up on being merchants. The reason had been because the memory of being right in a village struck with a plague was still embedded into the brother’s head, and there were many other dangers beyond that. Roxanne’s brother finally concluded that traveling so much was unwise with such a large family, even if it was to make a living. Another year and a half passed though, with the siblings living with one another in a forest to the northwest, and Roxanne’s brother eventually decided that the closest village from where they were at the time would be the place they would live at until they were all full adults.
But soon after they started heading to that village, the siblings were very quickly surrounded by a small pack of wolves, 7 in total. Very quickly the 4 siblings were attacked; with the eldest sister being the first to be killed by the wolves, her guard left wide open during the wolves’ ambush. With very little chances to escape the siblings had to grab whatever could be used as a weapon to fight off the wolves. Dealing with wolves though, had proven to be almost as difficult as a human would try to fight off a yoma, and the siblings soon found themselves losing the stamina to fight back the hungry(or perhaps territorial? Roxanne couldn't tell) wolves. But for Roxanne…there was an opening for her to escape, but would the wolves simply allow her to run away? She had no way of knowing, but subconsciously she stepped away slowly from the brawl as her brother and remaining sister fought on, and miraculously she had been left alone as she slowly moved away. When she finally realized the wolves and her siblings were finally out of sight, Roxanne turned around and ran. But she was not heading to the direction of the village they were to stay at…instead she ran north, to a group of slave traders. Before she knew it, after running for a long amount of time until her legs could barely take anymore, she was there...and needless to say, she had been taken in. It had been a few months later that one of the Black Coats came to visit, and took notice of Roxanne, who had been covered and dirt and closed off to the others around her, and disgusted with herself for abandoning her siblings to save herself. And of course, the Black Coat took her in, not caring about her current state; she was young and very much usable, and that’s all that mattered.
Misc: When the Trainee Mission starts Roxanne will be 5 months away from her 17th birthday.
